Glad it was found - hopefully it's in the same condition as when you last saw it.

Time for a Tracker perhaps? :)

too right, will have to change locks and fit a tracker.

Or a "snap-off" steering wheel just to make it more of a challenge for the little toe rags... :)

to cut a long story short i've found my car. Got a call from someone who drinks in my local saying some bloke knows where my car is' date=' and do i want it back. After a few more phone calls he tells me where it is.

Glad to hear it's been found, but if some guy knew your car was missing and had seen it, why didn't he call the police?

Good news on finding the car. Just hope it is still in a decent condition inside and out.

Congrats on getting it back. Hopefully it was too much for the scrotes who took it to handle, and they bottled it and left it parked.

Lets hope they didn't rag the engine to with an inch of it's life.

I reckon the mimimum you should do is, get is checked and serviced (all fluids, brakes and lubes), get a full system diag on it for any fault codes, and get it on a dyno to check it is still doing what it is supposed to be doing.

If it blows on a dyno, it is better than if it did it when you are attempting an overtake.

Jon,

I have spread the word that the car has been found, just hope all is well in the mechanical department.

Glad you found and have it back

nice one!!! I'm really chuffed for you

Me too :)

Never had my car knicked, but previous polo had been broken into twice, with all ICE taken. Police or friends never helped. I know the feeling about getting something back that's been tampered with an unknown person though. Hope the car's still ok :)

very good news that you've found it.

would be a little concerned that someone in the pub knew where it was,and didn't think to call the police or get in touch with you earlier.

must have been someone from your local area, wanting to try out a superior vehicle.

did you check the mileage?

and have you had any speeding fines drop through the letter box yet?

the person who knew where it was is a well known naughty boy(not really on talking terms with the law), he swears it wasn't him who nicked it(it was a bloke who knows a bloke who knows someone etc). Dont worry im not going to protect him and if his prints are in the vehicle then he's knackered.

when he told me where it was, he told me ive got to say i stumbled upon it, and not that anyone told me where it was, as he was scared of being found out as a grass by the gang. Apparently the gang have been using it to do more robberies and they really liked the car, no probs getting away from the law.

hope that clears up a few points.

i didn't notice the mileage on the car. its gonna be a fairly long process till i get the car back, new locks, tracker fitted, some cosmetic damage, mechanical tests etc. Is there a standard vehicle test for recovered vehicles?

jon

i live in luton, it was first registered to Rolls royce motor co in crewe, think it was a co car. They didn't have what i wanted at forward motors so they sourced it from skoda uk.

****bags I'm sorry to hear about that, I live in Leighton Buzzard so that is very worrying.

good luck in sorting things out

Is there a standard vehicle test for recovered vehicles?

I don't think so. Best to get it booked into your local Skoda dealer and let them give it the once over and then inform your insurance co of the damage / problems.

I've been following this on Scoobynet - glad to hear you've got the car back :)

No offence but I'm glad I live in t'North :(

We're all poor numpty's oop here and don't know a good car if we see one lol

Half glad you've got it back mate, probably the same as you - you don't know what's happened and it may prey on your mind a bit but once you change the locks and get a tracker fitted it should ease your worries a little.

I hope you don't think I'm taking the pee here - been done myself many moons ago and I know the feeling of violation :( :( :(

Good news.... hope all is ok!

Good news & I guess fairly rare to get it back these days

Suggest you keep your insurace company informed as to where you take the car as they all have approved repairers which they can not insist you use but they need to be informed of any costs that you may be incuring. I would suggest your local Skoda dealer assuming they are good is the best place to take it.

Also after the Police have been over it with all their finger print detecting etc try & get the Insurance Co to stump up for a valet. It will then feel better as well, if you can add a bit too it then why not get Mark Underwood to give it the once over

Glad its the right result

Glad you got it back.

IIRC Vag com tags a entry if the rev limiter is bounced of for a period, other than that I would say any engine use is valid use, even if it's harsher than you might expect to ever use; consider Jons Tavia RS; driven hard for 140k+ miles. So even 1k hard miles; might of even loosened it up; okay I would be fuming now so I'll stop. All I'm saying is the rev limiter is thus to prevent damage; but if maintained vag-com registeres it so at least you then have grounds to go to the next level; whatever that is.

personally i would disconct the batt clear the fault codes... then get it serviced.. just to make sure warranty ok and all is well..

Jon, thinking about this the last few days. Dont just get the locks changed, I would also insist that the imobilser codes are also changed because they still have your old keys so making the car easier to start should they come back.

thanks for all the advice chaps. the police still have the car, hopefully tomorrow they will release it. then its going to a dealer for any work that it needs.

Jon

Glad your cars been found and should be sorted OK by Insurance, I am a Lutonion, originally from Leagrave although have moved away now, back in late 70's I was always getting my cars nicked or broken into in Luton, until I saw the light and bought Skoda's. I had a mint 1600E Cortina nicked new years eve , police found it in St Albans it had been used in a chemist raid in St Albans - Police asked if they could fingerprint it _ I said yes and it was the worst thing I could have done interior was wrecked and not cleaned - Never again !!!
