N95 or K810i?

Featured Replies

Finally my contract is up for renewal, or cancellation - which is probably the option I'll go for. I would like to go back to O2, but will depend who has a good £30 a month-ish deal.

Anyway, I haven't kept up to date with phones at all, they have moved so fast over the last 18 months since I got my last contract. So, the two that seem to be the main ones in the running for me at the mo are the N95 or K810i. Just wondered if anyone has opinions or info that might help me?

thanks

Doubt you'll get an N95 for £30/mth unless you are willing to pay over £100 towards the phone as well.

I got an 810i for £25/mth but got upgraded to a £30/mth tariff for the £25 when I threatened to leave - also managed to get a 12 month contract instead of the 18months they were trying to tie me to.

Nice wee phone too.

I can get both phones free on £30 a month, thats not an issue, I just need to know which to get.

As for those other 2 Roy, are they even available? lol

N95 - search for issues online. battery life isnt fantastic

K810i, just a K800i with round buttons.

I'd say wait for the N81 (smaller N95 hopefully with fewer problems) or K850i, or maybe even the W960

There's a new very gucci looking 8gb version of the N95 out as well if you can find one. they are for sale privately for about £150 but it shouldn't be long before you can get one on contract. Smaller than N95, less bugs and more RAM memory so faster to use.

mmmm....nice....I do like black....

I thought it was the same size, just with squashed up buttons on the front display and a 0.2 of an inch bigger screen?

Is it actually available yet then or not?

go N95 all the way, ive got it on tmobile so i got unlimited internet access either on the phone, which is great or using it as a modem for my lappy, ifs got great speeds and never fails to get me online :)

the camera is fantastic, and leaves the sony standing imoa. the video quality is also really good. ive got a 2gb card in mine and it performs perfect until i had literally 1.82gb of info on the card, then the phone started to slow when accessing the info on the card.

the battery life is enough that after a long day photoing, browsing, texting and phone calls it still lasts into the morning to wake me up! so its good enough for me. on a quiet day i can get it to last 2 or 3 days, but then the phones still doing lots during those quieter days. for the sake of getting a charger for work i think its a better phone than the sony, and i used to work for them too!! :D

Samsung G600 ;)

Where are they available for £150? PM if necessary ;)

I was choosing between the same 2 phones, Loz. I've always had Nokias but decided to make the leap to Sony Ericsson as they have a better reputation for their cameras.

I am now totally regretting my decision! I nearly threw it against the wall the other day out of sheer frustration! I press certain keys and sometimes nothing happens for 5 seconds or so. And other times nothing happens at all. Maybe I'm trying to do things too quickly but I never had this problem with Nokia...

I must admit that the camera was good for taking photos when we went to Prague but seeing as how I predominantly use it for making calls and texting, I should've made that my priority rather than camera quality.

A couple of other people who have the same phone (or the K800i) have said they have the same problem with it being slow BUT my brother loves his K800i so I guess it really comes down to personal preference!

The only negative thing I've heard about the N95 is that the battery life isn't good but if you usually charge it overnight then that shouldn't be a problem anyway.

Roll on September 2008 when I can upgrade again!!!

Nokia all the way. I have the N80 and the battery life has always been describes as 'godawful' for that. But I charge it overnight, as Katie said, and only once in the last 18 months has it died when I needed it.

Helped no end by turning off the 'auto-seek' function that looks for WiFi networks. So if the N95 has that as well it might help.

But that Black one is sexy. T'is my next phone for sure. Unless they sort the iPhone quickly.

Sorry Steve I been researching this and the sites that offer this phone for £150 or $280 are always some classified ad based sites with a dodgy mobile phone listed. Aparently it's all a big scam and you have to 'wire' the money before they send the phone, or more realistically, before they don't send the phone.

I find this happens with a lot of smart phones be they Nokia or otherwise. the key is to keep the firmware updated.

i have just unpacked my new N73.pretty darn good.couldn't get the N95 as they wanted 150 quid for it.i wanted a free upgrade rather than pay to upgrade.

it's locked up a couple of times, but then reading above thats normal with smart phones.

does anyone know if i can put more than 2 gb mini sd card in?everywhere says 2gb max:(

I've heard they will take a 4GB card but it drains your battery a lot quicker for some reason. I used to have a 6310 which was only supposed to take a 512MB card but it worked fine with a 1GB, except for the battery like.

See what T-mob will offer you to stay with them first.. rekon you could get any phone for almost nowt, or a fair wad off line rental.

if you were going to get a N95, its best off on t-mobile with the web n walk bolt on.. im paying an extra tenner (£45 a month total) for 20mb 3g

N95 Ftw!

K810i for me on O2, brill phone but then anythings better than me old LG chocolate;)

Samsung G600 ;)

I love Samsungs, I really do, .....but I'm not into all the touch screen malarky, a girl at work got the U600 and refuses to use it becasue she isn't 'at one' with it! lol! Also, I would like to be able to change my message tone. My last 3 phones have been Samsung though...

N95 Ftw!

What on earth does ftw mean? lol

Col - What 'better' phones could I try to bribe out of them I've never haggled with phone companies before......

could haggle for the web n walk cheaper I guess, or to not have to be tied in for 18 months, I'd much rather it was 12!! I'd like to go back to O2 though :(

Hmmmm....does anyone know when that black N95 will be available? Just watched the advert for it on the Nseries website and I'm quite taken by it :o also, Col's managed to navigate us to and around Prague so I like it for that pmsl!

*has flashbacks of running down a street in Prague with the Tom Tom GPS in my pocket shouting 'How fast am I going?!' with Col following behind shouting '20 kmh!'* lmao!!

I'm just a bit worried about the screen, it looks so flimsy and easily damaged lol! And maybe a bit big for my pocket? I dunno ...............

Oh yeah, and Katie, I remember you saying you weren't so fond of your phone on the ferry!! And your picture of a banana I think?.....I hope.....hehe

  Quality.

I was worried about the screen on my N95 as it is quite mahoosive. the weird thing is Nokia seem to have made the screen out of some sort of reinforced crystal so it doesn't scratch. i usually keep it in my pocket with keys, coins, machetes and it stilll hasn't had a major scratch after 8 months. It just shows some light swirling if you tilt it ino the light as I'm always polishing it with kitchen roll. It's the best screen for scratch resistance that I've ever had.

n95.. check out orange.co.uk.. 35 quid a month plus free broadband, wireless connection.. and calls free via tinternet..

sounds interesting, does it have a name, the contract? that i can look for? Is it another 18 month one? I have found 12 months, £35 per month on O2 which is tempting me...
