Hi john,

Looks like everyone is heading your way including Ian (Jons mate). He will be jumping in with me (I think). Would it be possible for me to pick him up from yours in the morning, send me a PM if this is OK.

Cheers m8

Have a good time everyone , wish I was coming as well , as Prescott is only 20 minutes from me , but as well as it being Mothers day , it also coincides with the anniversary of the death of my father , so perhaps not . Hope to see you all soon .

Jon,

Thats fine no problems with starting from mine/parking cars. It will be easy for Des to leave the M4 at Swindon and go via the A419 towards Cirencester my place is easy can pm details once sorted. I am driving to Precott tonight so will have an idea how long it takes from mine. I intended leaving earlyish to watch some of the cars start.

John

Timings from my house to the entrance of Prescott tonight was 50 mins and was a distance of 26 miles included a fuel stop, the traffic conditions were about what will be expected on Sunday Morn - good road and route taken was A435 from Cirencester direct via Cheltenham - piece of cake no chance of anyone getting lost. As my sheet shows arrive by 10:00 and the venue opens at 09:45 we need to leave my house at about 08:45. earlier arrivals at my house are no problem at all - tea and coffee and full services avaiailable.

Hi Guys,

I stumbled across this a bit late but have booked up and am no 60 -so will be near you guys. My only confession is that I will be doing the event in my Elise -no insurance probs with this, unlike my RS policy. Anyway, despite this, I hope you will still talk to me and will be keen on seeing your cars and mods.

I did meet Jon Stopan at Castle Coombe last Oct 9silver RS on track).

See my note on the other events thread re 2003 Castle Combe VAG days.

Looking fwd to meeting you all and a great event

ehhh.... your starting behind me you mean I stand a chance of lapping a car :D spoke to some South Cerney m8's in the pub tonight who said that the outer circuit is not used any more due to its pot holes and general poor state - think an email to the organisers coming on!!! Wife tell me shes off duty on Sunday due to mothers day mad: (All the thanks I get for taking her for a drive in the Cotswolds)

so FULL ENGLISH = BACON SARNI:(

John, I was only joking about the full english :ignore: a cup of tea will be fine. See you Sunday.

Cheers m8

John et al - If I wander over to South Cerney can I join your convoy to Prescott? If that's OK could you PM me a postcode or something?

Re Track condition at South Cerney -

mailed Simon the organiser - as helpful and prompt in replying as always, heres his response:-

Hi John

I had heard a lot of reports on it too, but I drove around it two weeks ago and it's not that bad. It depends how you look at it and what you call pot holes.

There are no pot holes as far as I can see, but the tarmac is broken in places. No problem for road tyres, but I would not want to use pure racing slicks, so really not that bad in my book and certainly OK for this event.

In a way it will be helpful, as it may serve to keep the speeds down and keep people on their toes. We are mentioning it in the road books.

Next question:

Where are you putting the plate on the front of the car?

Where are you putting the side numbers?

A little consistency would be nice (if a little sad) :D

Still not got my pack as yet :( I think I'll be up and making the posty a mug of tea.

As to location, guess front grill, not low vents due to IC location..rear, dangling of the wiper for me...

As to pot holes..eek wonder if Skoda took the elk test; umm wasn't therea theory about given enough speed you could skip...

Going to prep the car today - dust it at least ;) I will decide where to place the plate/numbers then - or I could ask the wife

My thoughts are :-

Front plate - possibly on tow hook vent as I asume the air intake is not used - If I cant find a suitable/safe place will probably display in front window.

UPDATE TO FRONT PLATE POSITION SINCE POST ABOVE

Im going to place mine in the center lower vent for road use - top edge unger no -plate clipped on by cable ties, then i will move to centre of number plate with cable ties when performing - no damage to paintwork should it start flapping in the slip stream.

Numbers - probably but not confirmed central on top portion of front doors - not sure how white will stand up on "YELLOW" but they will on "BLACK"

I think you're intercooler may have some thing to say about that.

Des as posted decided on centre pos, I asumed wrongly the pasenger side was the towhook side. Just looked at it and found the passenger side vent hasn't got any useable slots anyway.

Postie has been, no pack :( Serves me right for leaving it so late to change my mind I guess.

Off to phone simon to see if he has spares on the day...anything in the pack I really need to know before hand?

Just been back onto Briskoda after a couple of days, all seems terribly organised unlike me, we will meet you there.

Re the lunch stop would like to join you guys, if we dont sort something at the start (I'll probably be cutting it fine) can someone call me on 07799 623693 if anything is decided. I wont be on line after this post but will have mobile on tonight & tomorrow.

Re Plate & numbers, I have cable tied the plate to the drivers side lower front grill & the numbers are in the rear fixed side window. I will have some spare cable ties with me if anyone needs any

Stuart Silver 4x4 (absolutely standard apart from the "Skoby Doo")
