Fabia vRS owners bad/reckless drivers??

Featured Replies

You're right there Mr. G.

I noticed someone thinks the word "Moron" has an "A" in it back on a previous page

I think the problem with the Labia V-Arśe is that it is commonly the first reasonably quick car that most of the owners have driven. Yes, there will be exceptions but in general I think it is true - something that recent polls would seem to confirm.

If you go from a 1.2 Clio, the Fabia will be quick, it will feel fun and it will seem like the best car in the world. But all things are relative.

Someone who spends every other day driving a Ferrari 360CS would get into a Boxster and think it was slower and diddnt handle so well - yet to a Fabia or Octavia driver the Boxster's handling would be a revelation.

The biggest problem is that owners of the Fabia never seem to want to admit the car's shortfalls. Its almost as if the problems it has arent really problems - they just give the car character  I realise that a lot of them have saved up the money from their paper round, combined this with their pocket money and bought their first new car - others are living with Mummy and Daddy but have a "really nice car" on the driveway. Its no good buring your head in the sand chaps !!

The Monaro - a.k.a. The Moron CV8 brakes are rubbish, the fuel economy is apauling, people break into your hosue to steal it, everyone thinks its an Omega and its not very fast along a winding road.

Okay, I agree with some of your points. But I think that you have the wrong end of the stick. It's not that Fabia owners are oblivious to the car's faults, but that we don't like being repeatedly reminded of them by some bloke who once had a go in one for an afternoon.

This is place where Fabia owners can discuss their problems and get help resolving some of them. If it was as bad as you make out the forum would need to be renamed "What car should I replace my Fabia with?".

To use the Boxter as an analogy, the old TopGear gag about only buying one because you can't afford a 911 is very amusing. But I think hanging around the Boxter owner forums repeating that gag ad-nauseum is going to get on a few people's nipples.

I also personally resent the generalisation that as a Fabia owner I must have spots and a paper round ;) As it happens I'm over thirty with a reasonable job in IT - I have the Fabia because I have a mortgage and lots of other toys to spend my cash on rather than funding OPEC lunches.

You'll probably find that I am not a sad little man, I'm not a sterotypical Police Officer and am not from Cumbria. No doubt I'll meet you in the future and we'll have an adult conversation at one of the future meets. ;)

So what you're saying is that you're just a born liar ?

I'd have another Fabia, quite liked mine. That said, I sold it for a Smart car, so I've got terrible taste

Guys, this is meant to be a friendly forum, if you're going to meet up & have a scrap I expect the video to be up by the end of the day! Failing that you could always agree to disagree & buy a vehicle that you like & meets your needs & budget, whilst accepting that whilst you may not share another person's enthusiasm for a particular vehicle, they might just like it & be proud of it.

Damn you, sensible person :P

From what I've read on here you might have a long wait for that "adult" conversation Johnny Boy, it appears Goochie has a long way to go before that will be possible.

By the way I am a (well) over 30 Fabia Vrs driver, having previously had a CooperS I am well aware of the Vrs handling shortfalls but as I do a lot of mileage I am also well aware of the fact that I don't have to fill up more than once a week, take out a mortgage for the insurance or save coppers in a jar to pay for the road tax. You don't buy a Furby Vrs expecting it to be a fire breathing monster that corners like it's on rails. You buy it because it is an excellent compromise of performance and practicality that is fun to drive.

Apologies if there are a few big words in there for you Goochie.

Have you stolen my Crayons ?

Well said, sir

Goochie - re the crayons - I think you're fibbing there mate :P

They come next year, that's when your Mum and Dad take off the reins when you're out walking too.

One thing is for sure, when I'm as old and experienced as you I do hope I wont have turned into a blinkered sheep and will still have my sense of humor.

Obviously I'm not saying that you're a blinkered sheep ;)

and will still have my sense of humor.

For that to happen you'd have to have one in the 1st place :P

Baaaaa :D

:Baa: :Xmas:

Most of you youngsters wont understand that :P

It was ME :D

Clearly you didn't read the post properly as what I actually said was 'A' Moron - as in, A person with no brain etc.

That was either elective reading... or your eyesight is going due to advancing years! ;)

On topic though... I'll be the first to admit that my Fabia handled crap, wasn't the fastest nor the best looking car on the street... but I still think it was an entertaining car to drive though and suited my needs - not to mention saved me a fortune in petrol money :)

I think the banter in this thread is now bordering on aggresive... and I shall restrain myself from lighting the touchpaper and watching from a safe distance

We're all as bad as each other - it's like kids saying "My bike's better than yours!" :P

Mr Goochie - have you got ANYTHING positive to say about the Fabia vRS at all just to silence the critics?

Just one little comment can't hurt! :D

Can't be bothered to read the whole thread, but I'd just like to say that I've found insurance for an unmodified VRS to be pretty reasonable indeed (just renewed £300ish with Admiral, age 26 and 4 years ncd, down a fair bit on last year).

Modifying has a stigma though... I mean why would you want more power if you weren't going to use it? and thus I think that Insurance companies are going to sting you because of that risk.

For a small car it has good motorway manners - I was most pleased with the way it could trundle along a concrete surface so quietly

Finally!! :D

Now who's lying.

I've thought of another thing. The noise on startup kept stray cats from the garden

*ahem* my petrol 1.8T sounded more like a diesel on startup:eek:

(though I understand that was perfectly normal :))

Eh? What? Speak up!! ;)

What absolute rubbish.

No way is the Fabia a high risk car, no more than any other small car.

I am 24, 3 years NCB and pay £400. When I changed from fiesta ST they gave me £100 refund with 6 months left on my policy.

Its a way higher risk now than it was when it was released... Fiesta ST, well everyone knows straight away that it would be a cha'v car

You blokes :rolleyes::D
