resonated or non resonated???

Featured Replies

i've recently purchased a mk1 octavia vrs and im in the market for an exhaust and hear a lot of people rate the miltek one with downpipe an sports cat but im unsure whether to go resonated or unresonated what is the difference in sound etc is the un resonated to loud any help or info much apprecciated

I had the resonated one fitted to mine for about 6 months but have now removed and replaced with a straight through pipe...The resonated one is similar to OE:) With the non resonated one now on the exhaust note is sweet:cool: not to loud on normal driving but when you gun it, it sounds great

I've had a Milltec turbo back (resonated) exhaust fitted to my Octy vRS for about a month and I am really impressed with it.

I went for the 2.75" version made for and recommended by Jabbasport, for cars fitted with KO3s as well as IHI turbo's.

Its a quality system, that looks better than standard, sounded great on an otherwise std car (not to loud in the car), and gave a noticeable improvement in low down torque and overall performance.

My car has now been custom remapped by Jabba, and the exhaust note sounds even better :D.....Oh and it goes rather well too :D:D:D

Have a look on Jabba's web site for details or give em a call, ask for Nick

That's my car:thumbup:

If you look on the Jabba page you will see a load of pics I posted when it was fitted on mine some months back.....if that helps:)

Resonated is more livable with day to day :D

(Non Resonated) I assume this is the pipe between the cat and back box, without a silencer?

Do Blueflame do a non resonated pipe?

If so does anyone have one?

Are they road legal?

Do they sound better than resonated or fill turbo back systems?

Cheers

Hmmm.

Blueflames system is non resonated afaik.

Yes they are road legal.

Some say the cat back system is too quite. For the best noise but not too loud go for the 100cel turbo back system, they sound very nice :D.

not been on 4 a while. but im back now lol. just fitted cat back non resonated miltec system rather impressed even tho thougt it wud be louder still sounds nice. gonna fit downpipe and sports cat at a later date and hope that shud improve it even more :)

I have the resonated milltek system with 2.5" downpipe and 200CEL Cat, and to all intents and purposes, noise wise, it is the same as a standard system IMO

jus to revive this one,

i have a 200cell cat and a 2.5" custom system from longlife in cardiff, just been ut to get the back box adj coz it was catching when hot coz I wanted it as stealthy as pos. I wanted them to quote me on a 3" or 2.5" Downpipe. they advised me that the std one is machined for the car and that bigger isnt better for a downpipe. so the one they fabricate may loose power.

what is the general concensouse?????

appol for the spellin.

cheers

billy

Is your cat separate from the downpipe?

I think my blueflame is 2.5" from turbo back. I wouldn't have thought you would get any benefit from going over 2.5" either unless you upgrade the turbo.

cheers mate

they cut the old cat off and tigged the new one on along with a bit of pipe to open the std one to the size pipe that is on the cat. it is all one unfortunatly. I think it is coz they make all the parts themselfes they didnt wonna mess with the one that is on just in case,

hats off to them thou they didnt jus want my money,

goin back to the post, mine is a non res. all it has is a rear silenser and for 2.5" pipe work it is very large piping,

its been on for a few month now and covered 3-4k and still looks as new.

I think i understand.

Surely it will be restricted using the old downpipe and putting the new system and cat on won't make a lot of difference. you need to get 2.5 turbo back really or it ain't much different to standard although the cat will make some difference.

All the tried and tested downpipe and systems run 2.5" with decent gains.

If your thinking of big turbo deffo get the 3"

i also went for the resonated milltek at 1st , but now ive got the str8 thru non resonated :orb_devil

the choice was made, the result was found mmmm

the difference is in the downpipe and cat i beleve as me brother has got the cat back at the mo , cool but a kick in the nose away from mine hehehe

and a stage 2 chip and fmic lol

still very cool tho :orb_danci

I personally would prefer the non-resonated type. The sound would annoy you driving the car after a while. I had a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth with a resonated type of exhaust. It drove me blomin mad. Got rid of the car hasten to say.

I have heard there is little difference between the two.

Alot depends on what you want from your exhaust, some buy for style others for sound and then there are people that want both.

I don't think the VRS sounds as it should (too quiet :thumbdwn:) and will be going for the blueflame to just deepen the tone when I change mine although I'm hoping the Revo map on friday will go some way to changing the note :D

I found this somewhere :orb_rolli

a non resonated milltek national speed limit flyby :orb_devil

Go for the non resonated as its not that much dif to normal driving steady but when you gun it . . . . sounds coolio! :orb_devil

its actually all cgi :orb_hypno

Not from where i was stood . . . . i mean standing :orb_scare

the stig said he only wanted to look :orb_faint

thats the last time a guy in a white suit n helmets get to borrow my car ! :orb_no_no

but it does show how the milltek sounds ok

in a controlled , professional enviroment :orb_phew:
