Yup, looking forward to getting it.

Any 'must ask for's' regarding VAG-COM set ups etc....

Already got;

Auto Locking

Make sure service indicator is set to variable

Put the rear wheels on the front (current fronts are down to 6/7mm, rears as new)...

Anything else?

Edit: One more - order Briskoda sticker

Don't like auto locking myself. Alarm beeps and single unlock would be my choice, also turn off seatbelt chime if they will.

i've gone for vrs tdi, i do 12,000 ish miles a year, insurance savings, excise duty savings were also a factor. I also expect residual values to be better with tdi. Oil market looks volatile at the moment, think it will hit petrol harder than diesel. I will keep this car for 3 years so the future has to be considered.

People tend to want to keep pulling the handle went the door doesn't open. You nearly have to get into the habit of unlocking the doors manually if letting people out, becomes habit.

Hi

I have a Tdi Vrs and only average 41mpg. I use the roque every now and again but even switching off when stuck in traffic or at lights doesbn't boost the results. I've done 6500 miles so far. I get up to 50mpg but only in heavy mway traffic which means lots of slowing down off the gas... Should i take it back to the dealers?

In my opinion that is probably about right for the TDi. We've recently been running a TDi 140 Golf and it was no better.

That is pretty much what I get from my vRS TDI; having now covered just over 14,000 miles.

No need to visit dealer!

Covered nearly 1500 miles in my TDi. On a return trip to Norwich at the weekend, I got over 49mpg, cruising at 65-70 most of the way, a little bit of "booting" though certainly not full range, and town driving... Early days yet too so hopefully see this rise a little over time...

but what do you get 'everyday' driving around East London? 37 - 39mpg I wouldn't wonder!

I do very few short trips to be honest... Next one I do, I'll take note - but yeah, likely to be late 30's I suspect. :)

my trips are mainly mway cruise control 70/80.....

More concerning is a slight relcutance to pull away from 1 - 1500 rpm - a slight "judder" is fely before it rockets away... I have tried using Shell optimax as well as std diesel but no difference

Anyone else expreienced this?

John

dunno how some of you manage 28mpg around town

I generally get low 20's around town and between 35-38 (sticking to 70-80mph) on motorway

oh and 11mpg at 162mph

A short trip of around 10 miles in normal stop/start Saturday traffic around E17 saw me average over 35mpg with the occaisional "boot" to 3500rpm in 3rd... Loving that torque surge! :)

At those rpm I'm not surprised there is a degree of (driveline) judder!

Be gentle with the old gal, have a bit of mechanical sympathy for her ;); gently stroke the loud pedal below 1500rpm, particularly in a high gear, and only go to full throttle when the turbo is on song c. 1800rpm and above. :D

Not sure if this is interesting or slightly off top topic. I have a 2.0TDi 1 series, and average about 41-45 mpg. Motorway driving at 80ish yields about 41-43 mpg. My car weighs about the same as my old Octy TDi 140 DSG (1450kg approx) and the economy is slightly poorer. Admittedly my current car has a bit more power/torque but on the motorway I would have hoped the ‘advanced’ engine (all alloy diesel!) would have negated this and so returned similar mpg to my Octy. The car has only done 3,500 miles but I don’t expect much more of an improvement in economy tbh. Goes to show that the PD engine is a very economical one really, if a little rough.

Ah yes; very interesting.

Come back Wilberpog ; all is forgiven :o (that'll teach Lady L to go to the blue & White propeller brigade).

PS> mind you; your current consumption is more in line with a PD 170 engine (vRS TDI) which is a more comparable car to your 120d.

Ahem ‘cough’ he’s a 123D.:D Actually Willberpog (I think this new one is Villberpog) is with Conner who joined recently then vanished again. I think he thought he might have been fleeced by Horners of Bury, they certainly tried to fleece me.:(

Oops, sorry (should have read your 'signature'). :o

If Villberpog is a 123d then even more so that you should compare with the Octy vRS TDI and not Willberpog (PD 140).

If you're getting 41-45mpg then that is pretty much the same as a vRS.

I was hoping for a little more on motorways:(. But the gearing isn’t particularly high for a TDi of this Power/Torque. Funnily enough the 120 has higher gearing (about 34/1,000 as opposed to my current 32/1,000) although I think my DSG was only about 32/1,000 rpm. My previous Toledo 130bhp TDi was terrific at giving high mpgs on the motorways. I often saw 50 mpg at 80+ and that’s a corrected reading by checking miles against brimming the tank.

Spoke to my brother the other day, and he got excited as he hit his new all time best journey average of 58mpg. Not bad for a 170Tdi A3. He recons he averages high 48mpg overall. Wish I got that out of my 140 Octy.

My other half has averaged 36mpg in her 170TDi A3 but she does mainly urban and very little motorway. Just like with my Octavia vRS TDi, WHERE you drive it makes a huge difference. My Octavia average = 42, with 47 regularly seen on the motorway if kept to 75mph ish

Just done a long solo trip down to Glasgow for the Caravan Show. According to the computer we averaged 52mpg with cruise set to 70.

Pleased with that!

Did a trip to visit my Father-in-Law yesterday (Hertfordshire to North Kent coast) with mostly 'free-running' dual carriageway A10 and Motorway (M25, M20, M2) all the way.

Cruise was set at ** mph there and *£ mph back. Combining the two trips over 190 miles I averaged 60 miles in the hour at 44 mpg. Not bad. :D

I was disappointed when I found out Skoda were making a diesel, having bought the VRS petrol and was told there wouldn't be a diesel.

I'm not anymore as the mpg isn't as good as I would expect. I travelled 314 miles, averaged 55 yesterday, was stuck in a traffic jam for a while and on a varierty of roads and got 38mpg. shouldn't a diesel be better that 44mpg?

I shouldn't a diesel be better that 44mpg?

... maybe it should and some guys do get better; but for cruising at ** and *£ mph I think it's pretty reasonable. I like to enjoy my driving :D not pussyfoot around.
