MPG of the Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

I'm still generally getting <300 a tank. I realise it's down to lots of short trips but it's starting to get annoying now. Went to Wales and back the other week and still only managed 350 to the tank.

I get less than 300 to a tank now around town, but I expected that :D

Is it possible to have the car remapped with the sole intention of improving the fuel consumption, im already happy with the performance, just want to use less fuel when motorway cruisin.

Just completed my first 10k and had service done on my Fabia VRS se and my measured MPG since new is 45mpg ( but from experience of measured v reported, the onboard computer consistantly reports 4mpg better ).

I think 45mpg for my non-modified standard VRS is not bad, considering I have a short'ish 25mile round trip A-road commute to work and mixed driving at the weekends.

Later today I'm putting up a weeks worth of figures of my mpg last week.

Davy

well, not been able to get a proper MPG reading since my air filter was replaced, but the onboard reading does seem to be more inline with the "expected" MPG now

I had to put my front tyres up by 0.3 psi and noticed a impreovement in the mpg on a long journey for example the car drove to hawick in the borders and sat at 55.2 when we arrived.

On the way back up from Hawick we stopped at my uncles about 16 miles away in Galashiels for a hour and then drove back to edinburgh and got 56.3mpg.

Davy

all fine and well, but don't forget the computer lies.

mine is showing a "number 2" average of mid-high 50s (can't check just now as SWMBO has the car), but my brim-brim calculations are coming out at an average of just over 48

well, my computer used to show a #2 of 50ish, and I'd get around 40 calculating it properly.

it now shows 44, so unless I'm really doing 35mpg lol....

My #2 shows an average of around 44mpg yet my brim-to-brim calcs give me a rock steady 40,5mpg.

I only do fairly short trips though (10miles) so the engine rarely gets up to temp or decent efficiency

aye my number two was showing an average of say 53 on the trip down to hawick.

Here's my figures from last week

Monday:33.1MPG in town over 3 miles driven by SWMBO

Monday:40.1MPG over 12 miles mixed driving by SWMBO

Tuesday:36.0MPG going to work over 4 miles driven by me

Tuesday:31.0mpg mixed driving which involved going into city centre over 12 miles driven by me.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday due to me being ill the car was only going short hops at a mpg of 32-33mpg in town over seven miles each day!

Saturday: Long distance run to Hawick in the borders 55.2mpg (50 plus miles)

Sunday: Long distance drive to edinburgh from Hawick including a stop at my uncles in the borders about 15 miles from Hawick. 56MPG

Today we are averaging 33MPG going to work and 40.1MPG over mixed driving, I am also finding that SWMBO seems to getter the better MPG than me.

Will keep another log this week and see if it improves.

Do you use Millers? I've been using it for some time now and average around 48 at the moment (rubbish weather causing rubbish drivers so right foot getting heavier). However for the first half of this tank I forgot/couldn't be arsed to add the Millers....and it dropped to 44! Millers added and the numbers are rising again and the car feels quicker once more.

I'm getting 55mpg almost every trip... I'm doing 50 miles a day of a 35 minute 25 mile commute.

GCE "O" level maths question circa 1974:

37/41 drives 950 mway/b road miles per week, but he only gets a computer average of 41.5 mpg.

What is 37/41's average speed? (4 marks)

How many points does he have on his licence? (5 marks)

What is his chassis number? (25 marks)

Hi,

Been following this thread and can report the following MPG of both our vRS's since bought new.

Car 1. "54" Reg. Re-mapped, PD160, Filter.

Mileage to date= 22,500--low as used to be 2nd.car driven by my wife.

MPG since new= 45.6MPG

Car 2.--"07" SE, standard apart from PD 160 + filter + 9mm mod to eradicate stutter.

Mileage to date= 4,500, again very low as both of us have taken early retirement.

MPG since new= 45.6MPG

As you can see, exactly the same overall MPG as cars are now used alternatively on a daily basis for similar types of jouneys.

MPG is calculated by noting down car mileage and litres bought at each fill-up and calculation of MPG done over approx. 1000miles, so not relying on trip computer data.

Cars are driven fairly close to the road max. speed limits and using "normal" acceleration for most of the time.

Motorway trips where MPG is well over 50MPG seems to be balanced against short trips where MPG is obviously much worse.

As you can also see, no difference between the standard and re-mapped cars.

I've not used millers before but Might give it a try as does it not clean the tank or something as well as improve the diesel and make itr quicker?

Davy

Mapped, Cupra intake VRs 55 plate - 53mpg on a decent motorway run at 75-80mph average. Up to 450-460 on a tank.

Round town, average week's driving, maybe 380-400 for a tank and I'm using Millers each time.

Think I will give it a try, is it about a tenner a bottle? and how long does it sort of last?

Davy

hi everyone what does this number 1 and number 2 mean on the computer? thanks

  • Author

is it not just trip 1 and trip 2??

Davy

hi everyone what does this number 1 and number 2 mean on the computer? thanks

#1 is the current journey info and #2 is the info for the (iirc) last 1000 miles.

You can cycle through them by pushing the button on the underneath of the wiper stalk

#2 is the info for the time untill the "driven time" #2 is rest/rolls over back to 0

I did a 25 mile each way motorway journey today. Averaged 57.3MPG (indicated), at smack on 70mph.

Not bad considering the wind!

was the wind coming from behind you?

Considering I travelled in both directions and the average indicated MPG was across both directions, it wouldn't have made any difference ;)
