Fabia vRS handling in the wet

Featured Replies

Not bad going on the Turanzas....

Yep - Camskill seem to have the best price on 205/45/16 T1-Rs ATM, if you go the popular online then local tyre fitter route :)

just some advice yokohama parada spec 2 dont work in the wet  when the roads are wet i dont take the vrs out i use my other car, when the roads are wet my stering wheel sops working

Really ?

I've just fitted a set of these after reading some reviews including those on Blackciricles where it seems to get a 4/5 for wet weather driving. So far they have been much better than the "Velocity Extreme" ditchfinders I had on before in the dry or wet but I have 17s and haven't really tried many others.

I've always found the VRS to have more power than grip in the wet but cornering on a neutral throttle is fine. I'm not sure where the "dangerous in the wet" idea comes from - apart from traction.:D

Only time I've noticed poor grip in the wet was on Toyo T1R's after 6K miles. Before that they were excellent.

My toyo tyres lasted 6k and the F1's i had before only lasted 3k. I think i must be doing something wrong ;)

Now the rainsports i have on the back have been on for the last 27k and still have some use left in them

I have kilber tyres on the front at the moment............. bloody dangerous!

well i took the skoda to work this morning the roads were best described as damp and it was a cold morning and as you say the vrs has more power than grip and i have a remap i just didnt feel safe on some corners i wasnt driving fast but it just didnt feel good, i dont think you can get the yokos warm enougth in the wet to make them grip, when the roads are dry they are amazing.

don't use highsport remoulds on anything, they just are ditchfinders, you can shod a whole car including pare for well under a hundred quid tho:thumbup:

I'm kind of used to low grip and loads of power though. I had a 135/13 tyred Nova TD for a while - wheelspin in 3rd gear from 67hp.

Yokohama S306's seem to be not too bad in the wet although i have a friend with the same tyres on her del sol and she claims them to be deadly.

Had them on my C2 GT, there were bad but far from the worst!

im currently running Toyo P4's (Proxes4) size : 205/40/17 - W and i find them very good in the wet! with tyre pressure of F:33, R:32

when the roads are wet my stering wheel sops working

Hasn't there been a service bulletin on this? Please contact your dealer as it potentially a safety issue.

Infinity (?) 17's on the car when I bought it. Ok in the wet, they throw up more spray than an 18-wheeler; makes tail-gaters back off on motorways. At least I think they do as I can't see out the back window anyway because of the spray.

Have you ran T1-Rs before as well, by any chance? Interested in hearing the opinion of someone who's ran both...
