People love to try it on.....

Featured Replies

I have a habit of not speeding in 30 mile an hour zones, normally they are 30 for a reason.

As I live in a rural area (no webbing as yet :P) there are a lot of 30mph villages that lead into 60mph zones.

Happily people queue up behind me in the 30 but often some fool will try to launch around me when entering the 60.

Now personally I like to exercise the VRS to the limit, or 60 limit in this case, and the persistent fool who has been hugging my rear end for the last mile just gets left in my wake whilst in the wrong lane.

They end up all fingers and thumbs showing me how great their full beam is and I just feel warm inside.

Is it the Skoda badge that does it? Who knows......

I get funny looks when driving mine bang on the limit in a 30mph zone, saying you have a fancy car and don't put your foot down.

Davy

i do 30 as well, but when the de restriction sign comes away we go,i think its the skoda badge they hate, cos they never flashed and beeped when i had the skyline

The transition from 30 to 60 zones is awesome for this very reason. You end up with an abundance of numpties up ye jacksy, all impatient and perfect soot fodder for when you boot it to the new speed limit.

You make it sound like we do it on purpose

Why is that not what you are supposed to do

I do that all the time, like to reach 60 asap!

Nah, it's the fact you're holding them up by sticking to the limit. Funnily enough, they don't seem to like it very much when they 're holding you up in the "derestricted" bit and you look to pass them! Had some ch@v in a modded 106 who overtook me in a 40mph zone and then got a bit wobbly through the twisties when I started pushing him on in the NSL afterwards

Soot Fodder! Like it! I might have to make a bumper sticker that says "You're soot fodder matey!" in little letters for those tailgaters...

I have no problem with motorists passing me, so long as they are quicker than me on the national speed limit stretches.

However, around here it seems that some (not all) drivers between the ages of 30 and 60 like to go 40mph everywhere, in both 30 speed limits and in NSL areas, meaning when I stick to the 30 zones religiously to protect the small 6 (well, in fact 3 if you think about it) point allowance on my license, they take it on to themselves to pass me in the 30 zone, and then hold me up when the NSL is resumed... which drives me absolutely crazy.

yes i had a ch@v racer in his 1.0 litre rust bucket with more fairy lights and strip lights than a xmas tree (wonders how this heap moves). Up **** in 40 limit, again into the 30 limit, tried to get a run up to get past in the 30 limit as we approached 60 limit... oh forgot, level (side by side) as we go into nsl and as i reach the limit (60) the rust bucket is miles behind and the last we see of it.

Its also annoying when they stick up your ****, yet in the NSL they only get up to 45-50mph, so much for the urgency. However the ones that over take you in a 30 limit never seem to get caught by the mobile traps that are often on those roads, but i can guarentee would be there for you if you were doing 35.

I had a sticker saying "please dont hesistate to pass if you think you can" on my old golf on the tailgate below the number plate

Youd be supprised at the amount of people who "tryed" to pass :D

Very childish i know, probably the reason it ended up bannana shaped :(

Dad saw one get done like this last week :D Into 40 limit, said plonker comes flying past on a bend at about 60, right round the bend is a scamera van. Result!

I also saw one of the "50mph everywhere" club get done too! I was stuck behind him (about 6 others cars behind me) in a twisty NSL, we came into 40 limit, I slowed to 40, he didn't. Cop jumped out from behind a hedge zapped him with the speed gun and pulled him there and then :D I pi$$ed myself laughing :D

The effect is even better in a (slightly modded) PD100 . Man I'm having too much fun with this Dragon box :D!

Replace the TDi badge with an SDi for even better effect ;):D

Or a Mondeo badge ;)

What really pi***es me off is the "mother" car driver. I shall explain....There is a 20mph speed limit in my village where countless children have been given a royal "did not see you" scenario and have been injured.

So why do these "mothers" think that once they are at school you can drive 40mph and right up your *** in a 20mph speed limit???.

I ride a motorbike and love speed, I have my car remapped and it is very pokey but when the speed limit says 40 or 30 on an urban area I always stick to that speed.

All of the previous posts I do concur that you will alway get one right up your *** when you stick to 30.

Most peoples house's are in a 30 limit for a reason after all but it is also a great benefit to your VRs if you drive within the speed limit and before you get home leave it idle whilst you get your stuff out of the car.

Just my 2$

It is fun though leaving them looking stupid. Good on motorways too after 50 limits. 'Think I'll pull out and pass this Skoda, oh dear where's it gone'. Cya

yeah the mothers are a great bunch of hypicrites, i go past schools in the morning in a lorry and never above the speed limit (or even near it) yet they scream at you to slow down, later on there they are up your **** trying to push you down the road cos you wont go to their speed of above the limit.

I found this problem when I had the Octy, when I had the A4 i never really got it, but now Ive got the Elise the number of people that will sit about an inch off my **** cause im doing 28-30 in a 30 limit etc (im fairly conscious about speed limits being 22 with such an obvious car and 6 points it would be daft to ignore them) but the worst thing is they wont pass cause they are expecting me to set off like a scolded cat at any time.

Although it does give me great satisfaction knowing that I can pass a van and a lorry (with plenty of space to pull in in between) safely on a country road without having to worry.

My current phrase for such launches is the "3rd gear special".
