Still off topic, but I can confrim the aero wipers dont lift anywhere near as much as a conventional with or without spoiler wiper blade. Because the non-glass contact edge(upper side) is just a rubber fin it causes even pressure to be applied to the glass as well resulting in a superior sweep.

It also means you have less change of doing any damage to the bonnet edge at any given time.

Also, the mounting at the wiper arm is different and seems more rigid than the plain bog-standard clip-in mount.

I know :( the replacement arms of this particular car cost

Dude, which model has the right size wipers? :D

the car with the right size wipers is......

the Skoda Superb & VW Passat (although not to sure on the fitment of the offside wiper arm due to being a different shape to the Fabias)

They both have the same size wiper arms and are actually 2mm shorter than a Fabias!

I have a howto knocking around somewhere about how to replace the wiper blade instead of having to renew the whole lot anyone interested?

The wiper arm and blade is a totally different design to the one on the Fabia/Octavia although the spline is the same (more than likely) If it eorks though Alex, I'd be interested.

The blade has to be renewed as a single item though this how to explains how to change the rubber strip which is a lot cheaper I will try to find it.

I think you are barking up the wrong tree here Alex. I am talking about a totally different design of wiperblade and arm, not the replacement of the current ones. If you are not sure what I mean, have a look at any recent VW golf, polo, bora, passat, or the Skoda Superb and you will see what I mean.

Are you talking about Aerowipers the onepiece blade and cover which connects to different arms and only come on Superbs at the moment??

I have a howto on replacing the wiper blade in the onepiece blade and cover as currently you have to replace the whole lot at considerable expense (I know it doesnt help in your situation Jeff but might be of interest to others)

Link is here Clicky

yes it is the aero wipers.

OK so the Superb comes up thus....both blades 535mm long. Drivers arm 470mm and passenger 530mm. Both arms measured centre of pivot to centre of mounting at blade.

Thanks Andy. The wipers with the blades I know are short enough to fit, it is just the actual placing on the car that I have to figure out as the Superb wipers are straighter than the Fabias and the challenge is to see if it fitsa well enough to use.

Are you going to the Maidstone meet on Friday?..........:D

Possibly...but dont even think for 1 second that my car is coming apart in any way or another :P

Hey guys... I'm a bit :confuse: about the "Considerable Cost" of replacing both blades AND arms??? Just how much do they charge y'all??

The arms are

the new octavis has the aero wipers too. Rather a dissapointment. After 2 weeks the'yre streaking and smearing as if they're a year old. Look nice but don't work very well.

the wipers are Bosch Aero Twin if anyone fancys buying them online somewhere.
