VAG parts sharing

Featured Replies

Seeing Colin G's post about parts being used across the VAG group ranges gave me an idea, what about starting a thread about what parts can be added to a Skoda that come from other vehicles?

I will start with

-Golf Mk IV and Bora interiors (havent tried door cards yet) (Octavia)

-Golf MkIV and Bora gearkobs but not the gaitors (Octavia havent tried a Furbie)

-Golf Mk IV and Bora Sunglasses holder to replace the drivers side roof mounted grab handle (Octavia and Furbie)

I know there are more anyone else want to suggest anything?

Most wheels, SEAT Ibiza strut brace (Fabia only)

Switches, column stalks, door handles (inside and out), steering wheels, most mechanical parts.

W8 Night light is supposed to fit, but not sure it has been done to an octavia yet.

The new Golf front bumper is the same as the Furby vRS bumper.

What about the "Aero-Wiper" blades and arms?? Or do those come as std on the Skodas?

And while not on a Skoda, at one point or another, my A3 has had parts from the MKIV Golf, TT, S3, and RS6 (DV). Oh, and the Polo rear Wiper arm with a Touran blade :smashfrea :)

S3 front Upper & Lower strut braces (Octy RS)

Wheels (Mine are off a TT)

The only current Skoda with the Aero wipers is the Superb, but the Polo ones do not fit on a Fabia (Although a few polo owners are fitting Fabia rear wipers to their cars)

Anyone want to try and explain to a thicko (me!!! ;)) what an Aero-Wiper is? :D

Is it?

ScoobyChris, just wondering how ur car is debeiged

i dont think so!

No I didn't think it was?

If you look at the current crop of VWs and the Superb, they have a different style of wiper blade that hugs the windscreen better. It is a totally different design to the std style of wiper blade/arm and is basically just the rubber wiperblade with a bit of metal running through it to keep it straight. This deisgn needs a different wiper arm to fit but there is an improvement on wiper coverage as it hugs the windscreen better.

The Polo has them, the wiper blades will fit on the Fabia, but they do not do the blades to fit a Fabia (the polo ones are too long, no matter what way round).

Hello there,i'm from Greece i own an octavia 1.8T 4x4 and i read in a Greek site(www.gtc.gr) an article about improving the airflow through the intercooler!!!

On the rear side of the intercooler on octavias (i guess and i some other turbo Vag cars) is the mudguard.

On audi tt's the mudguard has a grille allowing better air flow!!

As the article suggests, also explained with some pictures, you can buy a TT's mudguard, cut around the grille with some overlap and install the grill to your car so as to improve heat abduction from the IC.

Anyone want to try and explain to a thicko (me!!! ;)) what an Aero-Wiper is? :D

It's the new(er) one piece wiper blade with the spoiler intergrated into the body of the blade itslef. Unfortunately it requires changing the wiper arms as well. But I personally think they're better than the std ones

Here's a pic of mine' date=' halfway through with just the drivers side fitted :smashfrea

Well, the Golf fronts fit the A3 with NO problems :D Don't know about the Fabia, but if the std wipers are 21" and 19" then it's possible

Tried the Polo ones, the wiper arms fit, but not the blades.

My car came with the rather tasteful beige interior  and I'm currently replacing all the beige trim with the light grey interior out of a slightly rolled (thanks Jason  ) Fabia. So far have done all the plastic and Skospares have said I can have a set of seats and door cards when they come in (and I have a few spare quid ;))

Oh and thanks Jeff and Drill - sounds interesting :D

I was wondering about 'debeiged' too, thanks for clearing that up.

Tried the Polo ones, the wiper arms fit, but not the blades.

Well are there any other models with comparible wipers?? What are the std Fabia blade lengths??

Adrian (SkodiRS) has done a similar 'do it yourself' mod which looks quite professional.

Not sure on blade lengths, but ithey only seem to be availiable on VAG models at the moment and are only sold in pairs from auto accessory shops.

It may be with the wiper arms that it is too long, but there was no way that I could get it to fit.

Well, what I was getting at was that if you knew the std lengths, we could try and find a VAG model that has the same length Aero wipers :D That's what I did on my rear wiper. I had the polo arm and wiper, but the wiper was too short for my tastes, so I measured the std part, and went around the dealers lot measuring rear Aero wipers  Finally found one on the Touran that worked just fine

:)

I'm with you now. Good thinking Batman

Thanks, PLUS you can have a bit of fun with the sales people at the same time  When I measured the Golf fronts to see if they'd work on my A3, I walked around one on the showroom floor for about 5 minutes, salesman watching me the whole time (Although since I was in jeans and a t-shirt he didn't feel the need to bother with me...) UNTIL I pulled my measuring tape out  :P naturally I had it measured and was walking away before they got to me, as I just meander back down the way :smashfrea

:D

Had a look yesterday, and I was suprised with the results (I had a dealer come up to me as well). All I need is to borrow a donor car to see if the offside wiper arm fits snugly onto the Fabia.

All will be revealed later........

Been out this weekend... but good luck
