Forge TIP

Featured Replies

I bought a used Forge TIP recently and when I went to local garage to have it fitted today he said if it was him he wouldn't bother fitting a Forge TIP as it's not reinforced, instead he said to get a reinforced one (can't remember the make though)

Would this be right??

No, the forge tip is 4 ply and is actually more stable than the standard tip?

The silicone compound used in the construction of the hoses is of the highest sheer strength available and is hand-laid with a polyester reinforcement fabric. The layering of the hoses is far more uniform and consistent than of that from any other manufacturer which improves the overall structural integrity of the hoses up to 50%.

Does the APD intake hose have metal in it to keep it more rigid?

The ABD Racing one is totally metal., and replaces the restrictive standard metal one.

Does the ABD one go all the way from turbo to filter like the Forge one??

No it uses the standard OEM from the filter to the existing restrictive tip, and then replaces it with a non restrictive one that has a nice round non compressed bend on it.

If you do a google for ABD Racing, you can see them on the American site, although Mike at Impossible Performance is the UK importer.

I have one fitted and it really does make the turbo spool up quicker, and unlike the Forge TIP, it bolts to the turbo, so cannot blow off.

I have to add that I have never heard of anyone having a problem with the Forge tip, so perhaps you should ask your garage how they come to the conclusion that there is a problem with the Forge item??

He says that he would use one by THS???? Anyone heard of them?

Sorry, but I have not heard of them, but if you already have the genuine Forge one, and its in perfect condition, then fit it.

Hi

I would stick to the Forge one defiantely

There are ebay copies around from china I do believe that are not very strong , if you have it , fit it and with a Forge one you know you have quality

Sarah

Does the forge one still give the benifits of the metal one? IE better spool time / more airflow?

Yes they do

Sarah

the quicker the turbo spools up the more you will be on it and using more fuel. is it that important?

The ebay "Chinese" autobahn88 ones are good. The uprated Dv is tight against the vac box but otherwise good.

Four ply construction too, just like the forge

my forge one clamps onto the turbo.how does it blow off? the standard one is held on by one tiny allen bolt, the forge one buy a mecalor pipe clamp(depending on what you fit ,some use normal jubilee's with no problems)

i had a look at how they join. im not sure this is novice diy stuff. who has diy'd theirs?

No i just got the Tip.

Me and me mate fitted mine in about an hour, its quite straight forward just very fidily getting the pipe down to the turbo and on the turbo at the same time.

I used a stainless steel jubilee as i didn't want it to rot.

k cheers

Hi
