Dear Mr Collins,

Thank you for your email.

I have discussed your enquiry with our Technical Department and have

confirmed that it is not possible to install the one touch indicator

operation on the Skoda Fabia. This option will be available in the new

Octavia, due for launch later this month at the Motorshow at the NEC.

Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Rachel Court.

Am I alone in thinking this is a cop out mail ?

One touch indicators? ie the 3 flash indicators?

hasnt Graeme (fab16v) enabled this with vagcom?

Errrrrrrrrrrrrr, 1 touch? 3 flash? sory to be thick but can someone explain!!

Basically, in germany.. its the law that the indicator has to flash 3 times when signalling to change lanes on a autobahn. some modern cars have a onetouch/3flash indicator feature where you just tap the indicator, and it automatically flashes 3 times :)

Oh right!!!!

well you live and learn dont you.

cheers!

New 04 Mondeo does this. Had one in yesterday at work and wondered what was going on.

I don't think you can do this 'mod' with either the Fabia or Octavia due to the indicator system being relay driven. Whereas on cars like the Focus and Mondeo (New shape one) the indicators are driven by the ECU and are fully electronically controlled. If you listen to the indicators in a Furby or Octy you will hear the relay click on and off. In a Focus and Mondeo for example, you get a 'computer' click for the sound.

Andy

This one touch 3 flash thing happens in my new Furby vRS, nudge it a wee bit and 3 flashes, push down to click and acts like a normal inicator?

Mine too, 04 vRS Fabia.

IMHO it depends on what electronics you have in the car, and I guess they've revised them for the 04 onwards vehicles (my old Y Tdi Fabia didn't have this).

Fabia does have electronic flashers without a relay. Pre 2004 cars didn't have one touch indicators and can't be altered. I spent a long time going into this (lots of previous posts on this forum); apparently the ECU can't be re-programmed. The ironic thing is that VW Polos had this feature from early 2003.

Hows this for an update from Skoda.

Dear Mr Collins,

Thank you for your email.

Our information shows that the one touch operation is only available on the new Octavia, and not the Fabia vRS.

Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Rachel Court.

I am still not convinced, even more now after this mail.

They are denying it exists, also my local dealer was not aware that it was available, they told me ' oh we get an update from Skoda UK, it looks like we havent had it'

They are supposed to be the technical experts ( )

What are Skoda UK up to ?????

How about keeping the stalk down (or up depending which direction you want to go in) whilst counting to 3? Would that not be the same?

Q,

that would be far too simple - works for me though

Eh! Is waht I described what you are asking about? If so then I got it

The simple answer to all this is that their information is wrong, or they're answering the wrong question!

If you stick a big wad of blu-tak © to the top and bottom of the recess the indicator stalk sits in, then whenever you push the stick up (or down) without clicking, the tackyness in the blu-tak © will keep the switch in place for a few seconds. After that, the tension in the stalk spring will return it to it's default position.

There! One touch indicators...

:rofl::thumbup:

How did we ever cope b4 this wonderful invention, I had a vectra hire car with them and found them to be a right pain in the ar5e at first i was like tryin to turn them off and that made them come on more arrrggghhhhh ppl wudn't have has a clue which way i was goin left, right, left, right  , i did get used to them after a while mind you. I certainly wudn't pay for the things..... it's just like ppl cuttin corners .... laziness !!!!! turn the god damn wheel more !

Additionally, a similar system can also be used to enable your car's cruise control. Stick a VERY large wad of blu-tak © under your accelerator pedal. Get the car going, achieve your desired speed, release the pedal, and you'll find that the car maintains it's velocity! :D

So it looks like Skoda Uk are taking customer service tips from VW UK.

There must be 20+ members on here that have one touch on their Fabia VRs, seems we know more than they do at times.

A further reply to my enquiry:

************************************************

Ref 111272

Dear Mr Collins,

Thank you for your email. I am sorry this matter has caused confusion.

The one touch indicator facility is not available and cannot be programmed on any model prior to 04 registration.

There were a limited number of Fabia vRSs that were produced from the factory with this option, however this is not part of the standard vehicle specification and is not a listed option. It is not possible to add coding to the ECU to initiate this option.

Therefore, when we are asked at Customer Services if a facility is available we are only able to answer positively if this is standard across that particular model range.

Please be assured that neither myself or the Technical Department are trying to mislead you in any way.

Should you wish to discuss this with me please contact me on telephone number 0845 7745 745. I shall be happy to take your call.

Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Rachel Court.

So now they are saying it is available but only on a LIMITED number ??

My local dealer has 5 in stock, and they ALL have this facility.

I am now in a dilema

Do I carry this on and point out their shortfalls ?

OR

:mischief:

How about Briskoda members asking the same question / pointing out their lack of technical ability.

:mischief:

Wots the verdict ??

Wots the verdict ??

What's the point? You'll gain nothing but annoy them.

They might just be telling the truth. Seems to be a satisfactory responce to me. They tried it on a limited number of Fabia vRS before the new Octavia came out.

  • 4 weeks later...

SO CAN YOU, APPLY THIS TO A 04 OCTY, VIA VAGCOM?????

Cheers

Tim
