Featured Replies

unbelievable cant believe it this morning my front wipers have stopped working all together when i try and put them on the rear wiper goes what the hell could this be i know it has been very cold recently but has something gone? any help greatly appreciated cheers

Was you car frozen up this morning?

I had the same with my fabia many moons ago and trying the wipers when frozen to the windscreen blew the fuse and caused the problem you have described.

Give the fuses a check.

Will be a fuse. Watch out for the reversed fuse diagram in the manual. Its a 5amp fuse iirc

Definitely sounds like a fuse - check number 41 (allegedly a 20A fuse, but I suspect it's lower than that if it blows!). :D

cheers guys thanks for your help will try it later and see hope this is the case can you get normal fuses from anywhere so they have to be 5amp yeah? cheers again

Halfords or any motor factors will stock them....

Chris

are they not mini fuses, if possibe can you get to a skoda dealer, might be able to replace them for free.

Davy

At the time my dealer sorted it out under warranty and fitted a larger fuse.

thank you very very much everyone for this it was extremely cold this morning -10 at 7am so it may have been this that has blown it strange though that the rear one goes when you press it ha ha!! i shall call them and see if i can pop in one day this week at night just to try it out but i think my local garage has some fuses which one should i go for please cheers nmany thanks

Pffft. Mine popped this morning. 1st time this year. Bought 2 extra while i was at the Motor Factors. Wonder how many callouts the AA get for this from Fabias.

Just take your old one out show it the guy and ask for 2. Fifty Pence should sort it.

ha ha i lifted my wipers this morning to make sure did not happen again lol

Half boiled kettle of water usually sorts mine out. Just boiled to the point where it steams when outside, and it's not too hot too be able to put your hand in it. :) Give all the glass a bit of a dribble and it clears it fine. Not had -10 here yet, but the kettle trick worked well when fully frozen glass at minus 4 or so. :)

Same here this morning, have checked the 41 fuse no joy, when the front wash is put on rear comes on instead, go a nice 60 odd mile trip from work to dealer tonight to try and get it sorted lets hope theres no rain

unbelievable cant believe it this morning my front wipers have stopped working all together when i try and put them on the rear wiper goes what the hell could this be i know it has been very cold recently but has something gone? any help greatly appreciated cheers

last time i saw this happening it was due to people not using enough screen wash in the washer bottle. the water freezes solid and the fuse blows to protect the motor from burning out. sadly the washer bottle motor is on the same fuse as the front wipers. so they fail too.

ive had about 3 owners over the last few days that have had the same issue, i replaced the fuse and bobs your uncle :)

i now always advise customers to keep the washer fluid topped up to help stop the bottle from freezing

This was the cause of our wipers stopping working guess its just lack of screenwash :)

Argh help! Had exactly the same problem this morning, and the back window wiper coming on when pulling back lever. Changed the fuse and it didn't fix the problem.

Seriously fed up of -7c!

Just a quick one, changing the fuse will sort this. Just done mine again today. (Must remember not to squirt water when cold)

BUT if you get back in the car and try using the washers it will pop straight away if, as said previously the screen wash water is frozen.
