Just how fast is a Hybrid fabia????

Featured Replies

I didnt find lag particularly an issue with the TD stage 2 hybrid, I could be wrong here but the turbo spins up pretty sharpish, and in a way it's better that it takes a fraction longer to give the tyres a hope in hell ;)

my peloquin diff is awesome! Can't wait to properly get used to it and give it some stick this summer.
mine will be on soon, then its onto the engine:D

I guess lag is down to the virtues of the map. Mine has so little lag it is barely noticable.

Yep, I cant say I noticed any lag either :D

Drive any "hybridised" fabia vRS right and there should be minimal lag. On mine, if you try to hoof it at 1500rpm, you will get lag, but drive it how it was tuned, say flooring it at 2500rpm instead, then lag is minimal.

Why has nobody mentioned Stripes? They weigh nothing and add at least 16.8% to your cars performance.

Not forgetting 'L' lights :o

So even with a combo of bigger blower and a FMIC with associated piping you notice no extra lag? That must be one clever map. :D

Does it still spool up at around 1850rpm like the standard car?

Does the map overfuel at low RPM to get round the increased spool up time of the bigger turbo etc? Wondering how it all fits together. I'm curious. :)

It spools up later, but that's not lag. Lag is when you drop the foot to the floor and nothing happens for a bit.

The bigger turbo means that yes it spins up slightly higher up the revs, but when it does the air volume it pushes is so much more that the FMIC volume is negated. The standard turbo (had to) work(s) very hard to fill the FMIC at similar pressures in the same time, and was more laggy in a way.

The cheapest and most cost effective way to make your car go faster is to let Dave (Shifty) drive it.

hth:D

Sound Barrier iirc (in 2 different ways)

oh dear, biggest can of worms ever.

well a standard fabia keeps with a civic type r, a remapped one beats a imprezza WRX and sti so i imagine a big turbo higher power one must be as quick as an evo FQ400/lambo's and nearly keep with an enzo, but thats in my humble opinion of course :)

Where does a standard Octy II VRS (Petrol of course ;)) fit in with that lot?

On a par with a standard Fabia VRS or between the CTR and The Scooby's - say the VRS wasn't remapped but only had a PD160 intake and a pannel filter ??

(Serious question BTW)

Difficult to say that one, are we including the weight of additonal passengers? What about fuel?

+ maybe a car cover, drag and less aerodynamic? at least 2 secs slower haha

That wasn't very funny. :)

You do seem to have pretty good control of the car even when you are nailing it so I think the end result would be in good hands.

And yes, I think it will be quick. Not sure if the lag will annoy you though (lots more clutch slippage required at the lights) but when it spools up it'll fly.

You seen the video of Jasons car at Santa Pod? Takes ages for it to get going (also cos he used 2nd gear starts) but when the boost comes in then he's off like hell.

You thought about doing anything to the internals too? I hear lots of people going for mental power but they don't seem to mention the crank etc. What sort of power can the PD130 take before things like that start to give up the ghost?

Seem to have :P

I dont think the stage 2 turbo dynamics turbo is laggy at all. Its a Vnt 20 compressor wheel with its fins cut down for faster spool up. so therorectically shouldnt be anymore laggy than say a remapped fabia.

I found my car when mapped laggs alot more than standard.

The pd engines are rock solid. The only worry i have about mine is the cam shaft which apparently arnt that strong :(

My only worry now is that my clutch wont be able to cope with the extra oooomf.

Nope just the driver (avg weight 12 stone) and say....... 10 litres of fuel

(serious senario BTW)

That wasn't very funny. :)

lol, gotta keep the love up between us. Just bought a milltek system so youve caught me in a good mood.

BTW are you using a vtec controller?

and before you say no i am not doing it  I am going to warwickshire for it mapping, if all goes to plan

Ill let you have a play in mine when its done, see what you think then ;)

Earlier, you asked me to stop talking about my car. Why do you want to know whether I'm using a VTEC controller or not? Keep the thread on topic.

PS. Blueflame have a better flow rate than Milltek and sound better plus being cheaper. Looks like you've bought the wrong one IMO.

sat with my mate and he wants to know.

my choice but I got it cheap, £180

Looks like your mate is in for a long wait.

If he would like to come and look at my CTR then please feel free - I will even take you out for a drive if you like. ;)

can i be the first to say ....... who care's ?

slightly petted conversation now
