Green stuff

Featured Replies

Are people still against these pads or is the supposed new formula ok?

i think generall opinion is avoid EBC stuff. tarox and ferrodo are supposed to be pretty good. and mintex extremes if you can find them.

ime green stuffs are only good for reducing the amount of dust on your alloys.

I've just got my new carriers coming and will be running EBC redstuff having been in other cars fitted with them and being impressed with the stopping power. The cars I know they are lasting well too.

IMHO the green might be ok if you're not driving hard but the red stuff ceramic V3 should be really good. Watch this space for a review shortly.

(There are already some member reviews I believe)

The tarox and ferrodo are extremely expensive at twice the price of the EBC reds and 4 times the price of OEM pads.

The mintexes are supposed to be good but a bit aggressive on discs which was a factor in them being discontinued.

I've gone for Mintex extremes all round with new discs

Can I ask where you obtained them from?

you can still find them on ebay if you look hard.

you will be ok with yellow stuff id say.

brother has them on his Ibiza and rates them, balance motorsport sell them

justpartsbiz.co.uk, but they did say they were running out, and they haven't turned up yet! - but not due till Monday. I might fit them Tues if not raining.

I've had several different cars with Green Stuff pads and each time they fail to impress.

A mate of mine had yellow stuff in his Octy though and to be fair it stopped very well.

I don't quite understand where in the market place EBC are pitching the Green Stuff as they don't seem to be an improvement over standard OEM items.

Another recomendation for Mintex Extreme from me. I fitted a set on the front a few weeks back along with some new OEM discs. Initially not very impressed but after a few hundred miles they started to work. I got my pads from GSF.

EBC are not really a favourite of mine. I have Redstuff on the 928 and although they stop OK-ish, and don't fade on track, they have a very dead feel and don't really inspire confidence on the road. Ferodo DS2500 are far superior in my opinion - had them on both Octys for some years now (actually the same set) and they both last well and stop well, although they do create some rather evil dust.

Pagids might be another good alternative - blue is the equivalent for fast road, I think.

I`ve got Red stuff since 10k miles with solid EBC disks (front),

10k back they were worn out and after comparing all (!) options - (Ferodo, EBC, drilled or solid disks etc etc)

the best option for me was to stick with EBC, only with the better pads. (Red vs Green)

If Green is what you are used to know, the Red stuff will give you a big smile for the money :)

Ferodo DS-2500 (with Tarox G-88 I would guess to get all out of it) would be better

for track days as other users quoted, BUT in my opinion for daily use the Red is the best bang-for-bucks.

Practical: dust from the pad seems less with the Red stuff (vs Green) I found out

while washing the car.

Since the Octy rims (or my "NewRS4") are a bi... to clean, also a big plus

Little detail: the look in the rim becomes different: Green (calliper) with red (pad).

(standard all Greenish)
