I saw that yesterday.

Silver 56 plate with all the lights on in the back window giving some poor chap a ticket on the road to the M3 in Basingstoke J6.

Spotted the octy today round Basingstoke, J6, pulled some bloke in a Nissan Terrano. Rather decent looking female officer doing the dastardly deed with the ticket book.

Hants aren't the only force that covers the M3 who have some unmarked Octy II's :)

You're obviously forgetting Surrey!

We seem to have been getting a much improved unmarked fleet in recent months too - things you really wouldn't expect too!

Spotted an unmarked race blue MK2 vRS one on the M6 outside Birmingham a while back with all the lights going. Looked pretty cool all lit up.

Who could forget Surrey?

He was dealing with the remains of an MG (rover 25 based one) when I was on way home.

The only thing recently other than the prodrive scobby (years ago) they had for a while that was modified in that way was the V70's which handled like a boat when they first came out and had to have the springs changed. Hants do have some nice octavias but they don't hang around too long as either swapped with another division or get written off which can be a regular occurance. 3x 330d in less than 6 months was the best i heard of from one local station. Have seen TVP unmarked cars which are usually vauxhall but have never 'thankfully' seen a surrey one.

Let me know next time they trash a VRS MK II, I want the rear brakes

i've regularly seen new shape 520d, 9-3 tid, new shape 9-5 tid, mk1 cupra R as well as the standard vectras on various parts of the A3

North Wales police also have a silver VRS estate which I saw recently on the A55 near bangor, luckily they'd already pulled someone over

Also read in the paper today that North Wales Police have a total of 352 unmarked vehicles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not that special a thing. We've probably got as many, mostly Fabia 1.4 diesels. If you consider that 90% of those will be horrifically underpowered unmarked CID cars, CSI vans, transporters etc. Only a small fraction will be anything spirited!

i was fortunate to break down outside the traffic hq for tvp on friday around shift change, they have mainly dark blue and racing green like vectras, a silver one and a red one, so there goes my theory that they were all dark colours. havent seen the saab around for a while, but rumours are there is a golf gti floating around which im yet to see.

saw him today pulling over a 4x4 near caernarfon. beware of 57 plate vrs's in your mirror on the a55!

Chichester traffic base has swapped their silver merc estate for a white one, just seen it 'speed taxing' a motorcycle on the A27.

Reg for this one is MT53 FGG

Just for the information of those members who like to collect registration numbers of public vehicles, of course.

:)

It's a bit like train / plane or bus spotting really isn't it!

Surrey have a dark Jaguar on the M3. I think it is the S type but it was REALLY moving when it came past me. I have seen it a few times around J3.

Mark

ps. I forgot to mention that I have seen a marked Octy II in Basingstoke today.

I've had the jag turn up to assist me in the past - it wasn't half moving as it approached! And it looks like a christmas tree when it's lit up :)

Saw the silver octy today southbound M3 pulling a porsche .

RE Modified Police cars - in a recent issue of Total Vauxhall, they did a feature on Strathclyde (IIRC...) Police, who had Reshelled Vectra VXR's - ie, Vectra SRi Bodytrim and interior, with full VXR Running Gear - Engine, Gearbox, Suspension, Brakes etc

They were marked models - one a Hatch, one an Estate.

So that's kind of a "modified" Police car. In a way. Sort of.

I swear there is a couple who run the M4...

.. oh and hello to all the others who drive their Ocy II with convenient 'white shirt'/dark top/ high vis vest , who go chasing beemers ;-)
