Featured Replies

Right I've had it with these crap VAG wishbone bushes. The 3rd set have gone on the offside so I'm gonna get polys fitted

Question is .....Which brand

Opinions please

Powerflex

Super Pro

Or any other I ain't heard of

Looking at getting front and rear bushes on the front wishbones.

Oh yeah while we are at it anyone know the standard front arb size as I might as well get those done as well

Standard front arb on mk1 vrs is 19mm but powerflex don't list 19mm for Octy.

Cheers buddy

I know Powerflex don't, but super pro do:)

There one reason for super pro

I know eddy H used have trouble with powerflex, they used to pop out iirc, which is why I'm looking for opinions really

Maybe something to do with huge power though

Cheers Colgod, the only problem with that is the fact that awesome is the other end of the world from me. But the prices are a help god like one :P

I have been looking at the super pro bushes for my front wishbones over the last couple of weeks.

The main problem problem with powerflex is what you have already found 'bushes popping out' and this puts me off a little,as you don't want to have to pay someone to fit them and for this to happen.I know powerflex will probably pay for refitting but it's the hassle.

I realize that there will be a lot more powerflex bushes fitted to cars compared to super pro ones.

Hopefully i'm popping to Awesome tomorrow so will have a chat then.

There's no obvious reason (well other than popping out) for not having mostly Powerflex, and SuperPro ARB bushes.

I looked at both before opting for the superpro bushes for ARB and wishbones. No probs with rear bush popping out and the front bush is 1 piece compared to the powerflex 2 piece bush which can only be a good thing in my opinion. I honestly believe superpro is a far better quality product.

I have super-pro wishbone bushes, cant fault them, going to replace arb bushes with them soon too.

I went for the PowerFlex bushes and have been on my car for the last 10,000 miles and mine havent popped out and I'm pleased with them. Admittidly I don't have a vrs.

Im pretty sure they have changed the design of the Powrflex ones, last ones I fitted were mushroomed either side if you like so you pop them in and they cant come out again.

I will get them for you and bring them down if you want mate. Can meet up half way when I'm in camarthen next week?

I fitted my Powerflex bushes last weekend, and so far so good.

I have to say that these have improved the turn in and make the overall front end feel tighter.

I got fed up waiting for Garage so bit the bullet and fitted myslef. It actually is not that too difficult providng you are confident.

Make sure you replace all the bolts (especially the ball joint ones) as 4 of these sheared when i tried to undo them. I can supply part numbers if it helps.

Here is a few pics and a nice how to from a TDI forum. I found this excellent how to. Should post it up

I ordered a set of Super Pro's last week :)

Hmm, it was highlighted in my service that my rear control arms bushings are shot. So what are the TT ones, how are they different to the standard ones or should I just get poly ones?

I think I might have a go at them myself if I can't get them done under warranty.

My Powerflex were fitted last week and so far so good

I did think one had popped out due to a loud rubbing sound but it must have been a stone in the wheel or brake

Front ARB next to be replace along with the bushes(Not sure to fit a Nuespeed on the front to match the back)

technically o/t but important I think.

If you suspect a stone in the wheel or brake, have a look for scoring on the rim and brake disc wearing surface ASAP! Don't want you to do an impression of Heikki!

Does this bush look a bit nakkered, or is it OK? I did notice a small tear in it.

Doesn't look to bad to me from that angle

Get a bar or summat and jemmy it about and see how much movement there is.

Then use your common sense (which is what I did):confused::rofl::rofl:
