My car was made in Feb/Mar 2006 and deifinitely does not have the cruise control illumination thingy. I think I can probably live without it though.

8. The Stream radio is different in sound and functionality.

Possibly because the speakers haven't run in yet??

10. There is no manual level control for the headlights - but it does have HIDs.

No UK car with factory fit xenons will have a manual adjuster :)

12. The tyres are different to the ones fitted to the old car.

Just depends what Skoda has in stock at the time.

14. The alert noise for seatbealt non-fastening (and other things) is more pleasant (if an alert noise can be pleasant)

Can be configured how you like regardless of model year.

15. The battery is bigger in capacity (61-70AH)

Does your new car have more options as standard?

19. The retractable load cover has a stronger spring

Possibly the older one was getting a little tired or dirty?

20. The seat belts are easier to pull out - the inertia reels are different.

22. The alarm beeps when it is set.

Mine's Nov.06 with the cruisey-lighty thingy !!

Don't forget the change of brake caliper's from Green to Red - just about October/November of 2006 too ;o)

I'm pretty sure the Cruise Indicator was a MY07 introduction.

My September registered 56 plate had it.

My 06 has it too, although iirc, it was a MY07 as it has the MP3 socket too which I beleieve also wasn't on the MY06.

I picked up mine in August 06 and is a UK spec.

Mine was first registered 01-09-2006 and it's got it :)

It's no wonder I'm losing my hair!

A mere flick of the finger with VAG-COM :P

Micks Calipers are actually Green

Andrey has a late car too but he has Green calipers (Russian Spec)

Yes but there is a very good reason for that :P

How ironic, Russian Calipers NOT being RED....

You may all now accuse me of being stuck in the cold war.....

Dammit, its a good job i have an estate, all the beer i'm gonna owe you when this other 'thing' does finally turn up :D

But the "original" pod had it also :D
No MP3 connection Colm....my car obviously missed the boat for Russia:rofl:

Thank god it missed the boat for the UK or we'd have a mutiny on our hands! ;)

Thanks for that TOM Vrs.

.........But, a couple of things:

The radio has different options in the setup, mainly due to the AUX in socket, and the MP3 compatibility. I take your point about the run in of the speakers - I hadn't thought of that! the sound is a little 'tight' and bright at the moment.

14. I know that it can be enabled or not, but I was commenting on the actual sound which the alert makes, which is different to the old car. Are you suggesting that the noise that the alert makes can be changed?

10. I understand about Hids and the level control - it's just different!

19/20. I wouldn't have thought that the retracting of the seat belts and the load cover would be "tired", or "dirty" as you put it - after all, the 'old' car was only 2years and 20500 miles old from new!

15. The new car has maxi-dot, xenons, factory-fitted privacy glass, light-assist and MF steering wheel. Would any of these make a difference as to what capacity battery was fitted?

16. The tyres are Continental Contisport 2 tyres as opposed to the Bridgestones fitted to the older vehicle.

Thanks for your input - I find it fascinating how a model 'evolves' during its life!

Interesting, so it has the cruise icon but green calipers and no mp3, does it have extra functions in Maxidot?

Nope:confused:

Hi all,

I test drove a 56 plate petrol today, it is around the sort of money I want to pay (when discounted ;) ) one thing I missed was that there seemed to be no steering wheel controls for the radio/cd.

I see in this thread that this is an addition to the 08MY, is this the case or was it introduced earlier so if I can get a good price on an 07 or even 57 I would have it, as it is a great thing to have in my opinion.

Also it could've been me being blinded by the performance of the car on the test drive, either way your help would be appreciated.

Also I had decided on black, ruling out silver but the one on a test drive was race blue, and that's definately growing on me now.

Didn't know you got Cruise control with the 1.9TDI?

Mine is a MY07, on a '56' plate, built Jan 07, and it HAS the orange light.

Nope:confused:

Theres a number of extra functions in the Maxi Dot, I don't know them all but one is the closing of the windows if it rains.

Sounds like a newer version of the firmware - now if only an upgrade was available...
