How Fast are Briskoda #3 - 1st June

Featured Replies

Is this day going to be a definite? I have just had an email for £19 premier inn, so I am going to book if it is.

Same as above, I will travel down the night before as its a good 4-5 hour drive for me. Couldnt see anything as cheap as £19?? The one i seen was £50?..

  • Right, after my annoyance at the organisers' letting us out at Combe, and wishing to at least have a truly 100% brisky session along with a smidge of tracktime desire, I'm up for this. Won't be a work

  • We've had the practice times, we've had the hot lap times, now we have possibly the most important table of all (for obvious reasons), the improvement between practice and hot lap times 01. +5.317 -

  • I need something to cheer me up Just to bring this to the front as it's several pages back... 1. BossFox - Booked In 2. CRAIGROBBO - Booked In 3. PastyBoy - Booked In 4. M12MKD - Booked In 5.

I clicked a link on email I received, we use Premier inn a lot with work and have a business account, maybe it is a loyalty discount.

Anybody recommend good "track day insurance"?? Daily driver so do t want to risk it

There truly is nothing to hit at Bedford Damo.

It's probably the safest place to do a track experience and if it does turn out to be a Briskoda own event everyone is sensible and courteous and in the same boat.

No one wants to bin it! and everyone is more than aware of the fact it could happen so everyone gives everyone plenty of space

A quick google though brings up a pistonheads thread recommending: http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/ & http://www.moris.co.uk/

I never have and never will get track insurance. Simply not worth it for me.

Its anoying me that my name is missing the 3 so ill change it now.

Do you think SUK Gap insurance will cover things if it does go iffy? Drag the car outside the circuit first though, obviously?

Not sure, but if you are making a claim for a normal RTA, why is it any different to a normal claim?

Never had gap insurance before so I am no expert.

Anyway - never sure why people bother with track insurance sometimes. Clearly there are times, but everyone going the same direction on a nice wide bit of tarmac, compared to 120mph+ closing speeds on a normal B road, separated by perhaps a few feet? Which is safer? :D

Discussing what is essentially insurance fraud is difficult in a public forum but i think it's a seriously hard sell and it'd be down to you.

I would think that any insurance company worth its salt will see through an "incident" just outside a motorsport venue.

However having done 3 full track days, a How Fast event, and half a dozen Briskoda sessions at Combe I only once felt like I was anywhere near an incident.

To avoid being the cause of an accident you don't get up people's trumpets in corners,

To avoid being collected in someone else's accident you let them past on a straight with plenty of time when you see them coming.

To avoid being in an incident all on your own don't drive (too far) beyond your limits.

I only had my one "oh no" moment when it was wet at Combe and a BMW spun in front of my mid corner.

I lifted to give him space to save it at which point the rear snapped and i headed toward the barrier.

I collected it and in reality only just got to the edge of the track a good 10 feet from the tyres but it did certainly make me pukker up!

Good advise from Pasty there.

If you give people space in the corners you'll be fine.

I give people space in the corners and pass (or let them pass) on the straights.

Have more close calls going to work every day than I've had on all my track days out together. :D

I doubt it, Mike is an estate, and I might be a possible

Indeed I do.

As for the track its probably one of the best for a track newbie. You'd have to be driving like a tool or have brake failure to hit anything.

Apologies for those who have not partaken before.

To book you need to call Club MSV direct on 0843 453 3000

Speak to Stuart if you can but ask to book in for the Briskoda How Fast session on June 1st at 10am

They'll take your details and hang on to them until nearer the time when dependant on number of attendees the cost has been decided.

(to remind you less than 10 = £99 and more than 10 = £89.10)

Chris more than happy for you to jump on the discount and take part should not enough Skodas come out of the woodwork.

They take payment about two weeks before the event usually.

Thus maximising our time to get a motley crew together to actually attend

Come along it truly is a great few hours.

Top people, a competitive edge and driving fast.

If the marshals and staff were bikini clad girls the day'd have everything!!!

Thinking about this as would like to do a couple of track days.

This is a good little taster event. Safe environment and not a full trackday as such. Some fun thrown in too.

Couldn't do last year, Up For this one, see how my Darkness fairs on a timed lap.

Put My Name Down Please. thank you

Gents is this going to be a 100% Skoda event? I ask because a mate of mine owns a Ford Escort RS Maxi, it is the sister car to the one Gwyndaf Evans had his success in.

It belongs to Andy Hewitson and he is interested in possibly attending if you will allow a Ford in?

A link to his car, the bottom picture on the page is how it looks now.

If he isn't allowed to join us I am sure there will be other events where we can see this car.

It's Skoda only until we fail to fill the slots and have to let others in.

Event 1 we had enough people, event 2 a load of people put their names down and then vanished...
