Looking to install rear speakers

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I own an 02 reg classic Fabia and I'm looking to install a couple of speakers in the rear either side of the parcel shelf. I'm not looking to spend loads of cash on this, 50 quid or so.

I also have a second hand Kenwood head unit but I don't know any specifics about it.

Just need to clear a couple of things up:

Do the wire looms that connect to the rear lights have wires for speakers as standard or are they taken out for the classic model?

If I have to run some wires from the new speakers to the head unit, will I have to take up some of the interior trim to conceal it and reach the head unit? How should I do this?

And should I be looking at 4 inch/10 cm speakers like these ones? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-Rear-Hatch-Speakers-Kenwood-4-10cm-car-speaker-kit-120W-/130813416720

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

you can get a kit from skoda to do this im sure

Great stuff, thanks a lot.. hopefully I wont break anything when I do it now :)

Where are you based?

Anywhere near Bristol?

Would these be a upgrade for the vrs then?

Yep, 4" speakers would fit in the back but you'd get no decent quality from them as to where they're mounted. Fitting in the parcel shelf is also tricky due to it sitting on the same flimsy supports.

Retrofit to the rear doors maybe?

would 4" (10cm) speakers fit in the front of a '05 sport (if it makes a difference)? Ive been told 6/6.5" is what's all ready in there but seen some nice affordable 4" and not sure if they will fit without to much moding ?

looking at these as on a small budget! http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-sony-xs-f1027se_p-27053.htm

any info or help would be great thanks!

IMO don't bother with the rear speakers. They add little but a minor amount of rear fill/squeaky 1960s transistor radio to the audio experience. :)

If the Kenwood is of the internet age, the manual for that model number will be online somewhere. Very worthwhile getting hold of a copy of that plus any installation instructions.
