Mirrorlink Update

Featured Replies

Has anybody done a software upgrade of their Bolero/Amundsen or Columbus to include MirrorLink? It seems to be available on the Skoda website

The upgrade includes:

  • Bluetooth®
  • Maps
  • Radio station logos
  • MirrorLink®

I don't have my car yet so i can't do any updates yet.

Edit: It would seem that there is a change in the production Nov 3rd 2014 which might include the MirrorLink software. Does anybody have a car produced after Nov. 3?

I got my hands on our car a couple of days ago, and I'm just getting started exploring all the connectivity. Just started to check out SmartGate today and noticed Skoda has introduced quite a few more

Thanks for the link.

For my VIN it seems that only maps should be available.

Sadly the provided downloader keeps crashing on my W7...

Interesting. So some cars can get mirrorlink added?

Does anybody have a car produced after Nov. 3?

I will soon hopefully, my elegance estate with columbus is due to be built in week 49 (1st week of December). I will post it here when I get the car (as long as there are no more delays that is)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing, didn't now about this. Every day is a school day :-)

So does this mean any bolero/Amundsen or Columbus can have it? Or only cars built after Nov 3?

Ah, I ordered a Scout recently with the iphone connection (i will actually only be using an ipod for music storage ). I am guessing because i lose the usb connection facility on the dash i wont be able to benefit from this Mirrorlink facility . Woud this be the case ?

Can anyone who has opted for the apple connection 100% confirm whether the usb port is definitely not present.

According to the compatibility list, Octavias built after 3rd Nov are still Gen1. New Fabia (which is known to have mirrorlink) is Gen2. Until someone takes delivery of a post Nov 3rd build Octy I wouldn't guarantee that mirrorlink will be available :(

I entered my VIN and it says there's an update for maps (I have Amundsen), ECE 2015. (5 GB)

The downloader keeps crashing after a 404 error.

And the language is czech...

(Thanks for the link, I will keep checking if it works.)

thanks for the link.

Maps available ECE 2015, i currently have ECE 2014/2015 so i guess its newer.

also a bluetooth software update.

:)

COULD MIRRORLINK BE THE END OF OEM SATNAV ?

I think it well could be, and in less than five years. Just look at the MirrorLink site, more and more manufactures are making their systems compatible.

Thoughts?

I have found the above article on the MIRRORLINK website, however it only mentions the new Fabia.

Apologies if this has been mentioned on here already.

And for new Yeti from 11/2014 with 6.5" screen Bolero with resoltution 800x600..

But what is MIB Entry Plus (Gen 2) in Octavia since Nov 3 2014?

I took this from the vw site talking about the mib gen 2

Modular Infotainment System (MIB )

Generation II of MIB systems:

Ideally networked world with Car-Net, MirrorLink™ and SMS by TTS*

The new Passat is launching with Generation II of Volkswagen infotainment systems. The latest generation of this modular information toolkit (MIB ) enables a maximum degree of connectivity in terms of coupling external devices. Its diverse interfaces include interfacing to smart phones and their apps via MirrorLink™. In addition, the systems were given much faster processors (optimised booting, quicker route calculation, smoother touchscreen performance, perfected language dialogues) and new higher-resolution displays (in the 6.5-inch systems)."

It is available for Octavia, but it cannot be ordered for 2014/2 cars?

Don't think I have Mirror Link, can I download it  ( Bolero )

Naff all available for my car - not even just a software update. Boooooooooo

SAT NAV update for mine.

I've put a direct download link for the new Columbus maps in this thread

I have a suspicion the Octavia will v soon (or perhaps already have for new builds) get the Gen 2 Infotainment systems that have just been launched with the new Passat.

I understand the hardware is changing and the Bolero/Amundsen will now havw a 6.5" screen vs the current 5.8.

Also the basic Swing sound system is now also touch controlled (via a much smaller colour screen).

I'd wager that Mirrorlink etc will only be a feature of these newer units. Us early adopters miss out yet again!

+1

For sure, they will only offer this for "new" customers whos car comes with a gen2 headunit with MirrorLink & firmware updates supported.

Everyone else will just have to settle for 3 years of map updates... :(

Not according to the compatibility link I posted before, still Gen 1 for Amundsen from 3/11, as is Columbus. Gen 2 for entry MIB though (guess that is the new Swing). Shame as mine is due to be built next week and I've ordered Columbus :(

I could be wrong which would be great!

anyone have a link to the Amundsen map update that actually works?
