Sat nav maps for yeti adventure 2.0 TDICR

Hi

New to the group so no flames just yet please.

I take delivery of a Yeti adventure thats fitted with a sat nav next Thursday.

I had a play with the sat Nav and found that there are NO maps of Croatia, yet maps of Slovenia and Hungary.

I drive down to the Balkans every year from the UK, so Its needed and carrying two sat navs is daft.

The yeti was first registered 24/9/2013 , so at the moment a days warranty left, I cant find anything on the Skoda portal.

Did someone decide Croatia was not in Europe ??? and if there are updates where can I find them without costing an arm and a leg

2015 updates would be fine as the amount of new road building in Croatia is not high.

thanks

Richard

You'll probably find there are two map versions, one for West Europe and one for East Europe.

Unless your dealer is particularly friendly, you'll need to buy the East Europe version for Croatia.

I'd agree with that, Skoda do usually package the maps for the Navigation as Western and Eastern Europe.

For my two pence worth..

We took delivery of our new Yeti on 28 April (Amundsen II) and I updated the maps via Skoda website / home computer / Skoda SD Card on 29 June.

Just been outside to check...

To the North, it's all roads up to the tips of Norway, Sweden and Finland.

To the East, it ceases all along the border with Russia - but includes Estonia, Latvia, Belarus and Ukraine.

To the South East, it's all roads down to the southern tip of Greece - but ceases at the Turkish border.

Whether your imminent arrival has an SD Card and the card is compatible with the latest Skoda maps update, I do not know but there are other members here who know much more about these things than I do.

Good luck

(Only by standing on the shoulders of giants will I see clearly)

don't think it is updateable without a cd or sd not the skoda site, which will be locked the unit on first usage. I have an adventure and looked into this some time ago all to no avail,

maybe the dealer will update it for you on collection - got to be worth the question!

Hi

I had a look at the Amundsenplus user manual online, and that is what is fitted.

I suspect this could turn in to a battle, if its anything like getting UK motor insurers to cover

Balkan countries, most are so thick they don't know where they are, don't understand EU regulations,

let alone knowing which countries are in the EU & EEA,

Rant over :)

Hi all

Not getting anywhere with the dealer, but there are SD cards for Eastern Europe on flea bay, as well as DVDs.

will the Amundsenplus function with both map sets loaded , or is it one map set loaded at a time ?

anyone tried it ???, and does anyone know the exact part number to used.

VW group not in my good books at the moment;  would you believe that if you use VW finance you are not allowed to drive in

Switzerland or Norway.  Part of the contract that VW finance (UK) are using , yuk !!!!!!!!!, luckily the bank had a lower interest rate and no silly conditions

Section 3.1 of the Skoda ( VW Finance (UK)) finance agreement.

"-not allow the vehicle to be taken outside the UK without our permission except that you may take it to any

country within the European Union for up to 60 days in any calendar year"

I queried this with the dealer and they ran underwriting, as I asked why not Switzerland or other EEA countries which have signed all the insurance

agreements with the EU, and was informed that they would NOT give permission or any country outside of the EU.

Also means you cant drive in the Channel Islands , as they are not part of the UK, or the EU

There are words to describe this, but I'm sure the moderator would intervean

Yep, and they just went through my mind as well, that's just total xxxxxxxxxxxx. Does that mean, do you think, that those people in Switzerland and Norway who buy through VW can not drive in the U.K. Now I'd understand that this is a less likely option but it does not seem to make any sense at all. Read the small print and good on you for following it up and getting clarification.

I'm not going to let this one drop either,

I'm forwarding copies of the finance agreement to both the Swiss and Norwegian Governments as the two major countries involved, but there are a further seven, plus the Channel islands and Gibraltar , crown dependencies.

I've complained to Skoda UK customer services, and will be contacting the BBC transport correspondent , and writing to the CEO of VW

I've also discovered that the engine fitted to the Yeti I'm buying is a EA189, so that's the dodgy VW engine management software to be updated.

But of course nothing mentioned by the dealer.

VW have had a lot of bad press over their emissions claims , I wonder how they will like this.

There are still summer car ferries from the UK to Norway, I wonder how many of those driving VW groups cars, still under finance agreements, are aware they have agreed not to go there.

I wonder what they will do to shut me up ?   :)

Iceland would be a lovely place to drive a 4WD Yeti around, that's FORBUT on VW financed cars too.

A bit more

I wonder how anyone buying a VW group vehicle  get finance on the Isle of Man, There are two VW dealers there.

They cant be using VW finance UK

And of course as the Isle of Man is not part of the UK or the EU its somewhere else that VW finance say you can't go.

I guess it all comes down to the legalities of 'recovery' in the event of failure to keep up payments.

I guess that's all part of EU States agreements in providing no bar to recovery.

Post Brexit............more complications, no wonder hundreds of civil servants are working long hours in a dedicated Brexit office building, what a nightmare.

I didn't use VAG finance :)

I went to the bank and ended up with a better deal.

But I will still make a complaint to the CEO of VAG Finance

Richard

First rule for me is to have organised your own finances before looking eg bank personal loan.

The finance 'deals' are part of the thimble and pea trick particularly if you have a px.
