  1. Well, I've had similar on non-Skodas, bought from a car accessory shop, so not having any manufacturer part number.
  2. No warning, not even a sound of an electric fan starting up? I've got an idea where to look maybe, but we need more to work from.
  3. Check the injector duty cycles, at a per cylinder level.
  4. Not sure what that means. The point about mine is that "glass cover" refers to all cabin glazing, even the sunroof.
  5. Too right. The last time I had one (in a hire car) I would ease the throttle on a false flat, and it would tell me to change up a gear, although I was going to hit a steeper pitch in about 50 yards. Sorry, V@&xh@11, that's simply pointless.
  6. Glowplug problem. Check them with a multimeter.
  7. Well, there are your problems:- Irrespective of make, most brands of tyre become noisier when they get towards or below 3mm tread. Saw-toothing is also known to increase tyre noise, irrespective of remaining wear.
  8. Yes there is. It's one of the options that appears if you press the ellipsis "..." top right on a posting.
  9. Is there a French equivalent of Sealey, since we're talking garage equipment and not things like, say, spanners.
  10. They are called "drive shafts", because they transfer the drive from the gear box to the wheels. They have balance weights attached to them. Sometimes these weights come loose, and when that happens the shafts get out of balance. See balancing a shaft for further information.
  11. OK, you're wrong. No, really you are, because front wheel drive is effected by drive shafts from the final drive to the front wheels, and these shafts have balance weights on them.
  12. Well, I've not only seen them in MoT bays. They have always been on a 4-poster lift, and they can normally accommodate most cars and SUVs, and 12 seat minibuses/2 ton vans subject to roof clearance. No idea in France, but the usual tool factors in the UK (if you're allowed to import one post-WrecksIt).
  13. On car or off? On-car would also test the driveshaft balance weights, which have been known to come loose...
  14. That's where I was going, as long as he has alloy wheels.
  15. Is the alternator working correctly?
  16. You mean like early 2000s Skodas for example?
  17. Does your insurance explicitly say "windscreen cover", or "glass cover" like mine does?
  18. Alloys or steels? Also, you can at least loosen all 5 wheel nuts?
  19. That's my usual method, assuming it's a wheel bearing and not brake wear or a stone under a spray shield.
  20. Exactly; they don't care, right up until they are looking for an excuse to nick you...
  21. So what did you mean then? My statement about the requirement for number plates to show the name and postcode or landline of the supplier in order to be legal was correct. It remains correct even if I wasn't in a position to find the specific statute involved immediately upon your posting.
  22. So, if you are correct, an offence is only an offence if the person who warns you that it is an offence knows the specific statute involved. You won't mind quoting the statute that supports your unique interpretation of UK law then.
  23. As others, with the note that some of the mobile units and fast fit places do guarantee "This much colder or it's free".
