vacuum pressures for turbo Octavia 110 mk1 hatch ASV
@Bornjoyful - Well, sticky turbo vanes are common on this engine, but more usually show up as an overboost code, limp mode, and reset every time you switch the engine off.

Buying Superb III after SII
Well. I'm only 4'22", but I tend to adjust my seat (given a height adjustment) about as high as the headliner allows.

Do you want to argue with a manufacturer of laboratory grade scales that their machines are " inaccurate and pointless"? That's what you've just said to me. Do you want to argue with a manufacturer of laboratory grade scales that their machines are "complex and unreliable"? The receiver and scales are 2 separate items, with the receiver sitting on the scales. Actually, have you ever had an air conditioning system regassed? I have, and had a chat with the operator whilst he was working.

UK based Superskoda alternative?
...and you have no way of getting them to ship it to Englandshire. If you did, I'd not have mentioned the DIY route.

I wouldn't trust Google that much as such, unless they explain about "chrome" plated plastic actually being aluminium, and soluble in caustic solutions?

UK based Superskoda alternative?
I don't know that this will work, but it may be possible to strip the chrome with Mr Muscle oven cleaner, then paint the surround with black enamel.

Buying Superb III after SII
I agree your logic there. However, a sunroof robs headroom, costs money, and makes the shell heavier (high up at that) and less rigid. Conclusion - I quite like having one that seals properly, but wouldn't pay extra for one.

OK, how is this meant to be simpler than before and after weighing the receiver that the old refrigerant is pumped into?

vacuum pressures for turbo Octavia 110 mk1 hatch ASV
Well, that suggests to me that the car's not over-fuelling and you don't have a boost leak. Have you tried a VCDS diagnosis, because that strikes me as being a better way of diagnosing a faulty valve than trying to measure it's operating pressure. A for Audi are good, near you, and handy for the Blue Train lines.

You can think of another way to determine whether or not a system which isn't empty has a leak? Also, I checked and scales similar to the ones I've seen in use are about £100 a set.

Some advice on inverters
Well, I don't know if this will help, but yesterday I was in a Fiat Punto, and the lighter point was marked "maximum 180W".

Would you sell the car you love and why not?
I'd say sell the Clio before it rusts to death!

Is the car black smoking? I've had a popped boost pipe and got heavy black smoke plus a total lack of power.

Edit in-line, underscore
- Lights on with Ignition light switch not functioning

Fabia II Greenline exhaust issues and diagnostics
It would be worth getting the battery condition checked. Most decent rapid fit places will do that for free as long as they get the business if it needs replaced. Do tell them the car has stop-start though, because that makes a difference.

OK. I'll block you since you clearly don't need any advice from anyone.

What would you change?
I've seen similar before; rain just didn't land on the back screen above about 30mph on one car.
-
What would you change?
I like Rain-X, but have never found it to work on the side or rear windows of pretty much anything.

Auto braking
Seconded. I've always said we should use the developers and the commissioning managers as crash test dummies for these systems. After all, if they do their jobs right, they won't get hurt.

Boot liner collapse in estate - any ideas?
Yeah mate. That's actually about no help because I neither know you nor buy bagged gravel from B&Q (or anywhere else). I think the bags should state a mass on them, and under UK manual handling regulations, should weigh 20kg or less each.

Dsg gearbox car over revving in second but not going anywhere
Well, you don't say which box and that might make a difference, but anyway I'm wondering if you have an issue with the even gears clutch. Does it over-rev but still move in 4th, 6th and, if applicable, 8th gears?

Noisy steering rack/motor?
Try and not hold the steering against the lock stop. An inch or so back at the wheel rim away from the stop is enough to relieve the load. If your car has electro-hydraulic PAS, check the PAS fluid level.

Coolant leak
Do a (fluorescent) dye test.
