  1. I think I see what you're saying. You're saying that once the thermostat releases the coolant from the block into the radiator that it will cool quicker and then it takes longer to heat back up once it goes back into the block?
  2. As far as I can see, blocking off the radiator will have no effect other than reducing the cold air flow over the engine block, which might create a slightly quicker warm-up. The thermostat doesn't allow the coolant to flow until it reaches the specified temp regardless of the ambient air temp, so the heater won't work until the stat opens.
  3. Yeah, it's a pain. I'm lucky in that mine are bolted as they used bolts until about 2003. A lazy tongs riveter is what most use.
  4. It's the same with the door microswitches. The latch moves sideways across the plastic microswitch button and acts like a file, eventually wearing the button away. Rubbish design.
  5. Hi

    It's a Skoda engine.
  6. The switch with the green wire also tells the system that the tailgate is open/closed.
  7. It's worth checking if the bulkhead drains are blocked as it's quite a common thing. If you remove the front plastic arch liners you can access the drain holes under the wheel arch.....
  8. Yeah, it's very wet in there.
  9. The cover caps for the roof trim are part number 6Y6 853 140 D (hatchback). However, it can't leak into the car through there.
  10. Mine did it yesterday morning and my coolant tank is brand-new with new antifreeze.
  11. Might be. Mine has a slightly rough idle but never feels like it's hesitating or misfiring.
  12. They do have a bit of a rough idle by default but shouldn't misfire. I wonder if it's a faulty injector.
  13. The drivers window motor contains the electronics that control both sides.
  14. Have a look inisde the rubber door bellows to see if any wires are broken. It's a common problem.
  15. Must've been a big car park.
  16. Will be interesting to see if the second ones bleed out overnight.
  17. This guy had the same problem only not a Skoda... http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/hydraulic-lifters-ive-worked-it-out_topic32754.html
