The disproportionately large headlamps of the fl put me off buying one. To be honest the looks between them are entirely subjective, though.

Looks the same as the garden variety Fl vRS to me.

Not sure, other than its most apparent at low speed over uneven surfaces. I'll investigate further today.

Love these motors in 5-pot guise. Its just a shame the boot is so ridiculously tiny to be of any real use. If it wasn't for that. I'd have had one long ago.

Suspension bushes - any pointers to which ones it could be in the picture? The rear end of the car is at the bottom. Cheers

Hi, Has anyone ever come across this extremely annoying rattle, or clonking noise in the boot of their octavia? http://vid217.photobucket.com/albums/cc57/750lbs/Skud/00102.mp4 I've had it ages, and have not managed to source the origin of the noise. The boot had been completely emptied to isolate any external sources, and i've tried manually bouncing the rear of the car, but cannot replicate the noise. The tailgate also doesn't appear to have any loose foreign object inside of it either. Any ideas? Cheers

Yep, fairly simple. If you want to do a proper job of it, it's the de-chroming of the surround where all the fun starts!

I've really no idea, but it sounds quite feasible to me. Maybe the fix is just decrypt the ECU, remove the offending cheat code and away you go. With hopefully no need to meddle with engine maps. Or just somehow swap it out for a pre-fl ECU? All just uneducated guesses on my part, I might add. I guess time will tell.

Just been on the emissions recall checker and it looks like I'm all clear, then - no consolation to those that are not, I guess! A bit odd tbh, I was sure my CEGA-engined pre-fl CR vRS was fitted with the EA189? But as far as I'm aware, my ECU is not encrypted (verified by a tuner). So, maybe this encryption thing is the difference with the post 2009 fl vRS's? I can't speak for the rest of the effected models, though. Needless to say, I guess it now blows my earlier dyno power run fuse-removal theory out the water. :wonder:

What are you on with "hidden gems of performance"? I clearly inferred power was down on what it should be. No need for hyperbole.

We had to pull several fuses to get a representative and realistic reading, when I had my cr170 on the dyno. Power was way down on the initial runs. So emissions cheat software at work, perhaps?

Lets just wait and see what the proposed "fix" is first, shall we?

Age old question of PD Vs CR - looking to buy.
Fr0d replied to Dazzerp's topic in About to buy a SKODA?
I'm not sure the vRS's powerplant in PD170 guise, could be labeled as "bullet proof". -
PD Vs CR - looking to buy a Vrs Tdi
Fr0d replied to Dazzerp's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
PD = Direct Injection - old tech. CR = Common Rail - current tech. No reason, other than lower purchase price to go with PD -
Whiteline, Eibach or H&R RARB owners...
Fr0d replied to Fr0d's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Right. After some monumental digging, I think I've finally found the part number for the H&R item I want - 33258 HA2. Rear H&R bars seem like hen's teeth (i don't need the front) to buy. Can someone please verify this, before I make another expensive mistake? Ta. -

Fr0d replied to Fr0d's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Great guys - just what I wanted to hear! I also forgot to mention, I have zero interest in lowering the car, so It would only be matched up with OEM suspension, if that means anything. Any of you have a part number and link for said H&R item? All for a CR vRS, that is. Thanks -
Diesel or Petrol Skoda.... Help!
Fr0d replied to crocks's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
x2 9 mile runs, interspersed with stop/start driving would point me towards petrol ownership territory.
