1.6 CR TDi - 175bhp - 345nm - big smiles

Nice power increase there. -
Waybaloo is utter nonsense. Teaches kids complete mumbo jumbo. No idea how it was commissioned. I know what you mean about In the Night Garden, but you get used to it and it's still a good show. Baby Jake is our favourite, though - I, I mean, my son loves it!

Tinting headlights yellow... Legal or not?
Fr0d replied to MrTacoSWFC's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
To clarify, when I said I fitted yellow fogs, I meant bulbs, not the lenses themselves. -

I fitted yellow fog lamps to a previous car. The theory being that <2500k light cuts through fog better than light at the whiter end of the spectrum. I personally wouldn't bother with dipped beam bulbs, though. -
Depends on what you listen to and what your reception is like. For my needs, it is utterly hopeless. YMMV

shark map booked. anyone else got one
Fr0d replied to ollyvrs's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Got my Cr170 remapped by Shark yesterday and so far pretty satisfied with the results. Not a huge power hike if any, over my previous tuning box (but that already gave my car a dyno proven 204bhp and I wasn't really expecting any more, as this is around the sensible limit for stage 1 tune) but the way its delivered proved a noticeably smoother and more linear experience. Much more drivable, particularly in the lower gears. Kudos to the staff who seem to that bit further than a few places I could mention for their customer service. Bumped into Brimma there too, having some work done on his Fabia. Only a few days left to take advantage of their 25% off promotion, so move fast! -
I'd first change the tweeters for some better aftermarket items, with passive crossovers. The factory units have far too much midrange directed to them. That makes a huge influence on the sound. If you're still not happy, go for an aftermarket HU. Though the Octavia has a much better standard stereo than a lot of other cars of that ilk.

The +3 setting may or may not throw any errors up until you've done 1000+ miles or more. YMMV

You will need a FL Octy, or at least the controls, for the climate display to work. -

Yes I can confirm Ventus v12 are garbage on the vRS. Couldn't get rid of mine soon enough. Uniroyal RS3 all the way. -
Torque/horsepower comparison 2.0 TDI 170 (2009) and TDI 150 (2016?
Fr0d replied to Agerbundsen's topic in Skoda Yeti
I know it's a remapped figure - courtesy of Celtic tuning. I have had a remap from them on a previous car, which actually did stack up to their quoted figures, when tested on another tuner's dyno. As said though, 227 horses from any Stage 1 or 2 mapped CR170, seems a little optimistic, to say the least. -

Remove lead boots, fit a WALK or fit an aftermarket lsd, if your pockets are deep enough. -

Hmm, I'd take that second Cr170 power figure with a pinch of salt. -

Those holes looked miles out of alignment with the screw heads when I last looked. The car has had the dash out previously to rectify a rattle, though. Coupled with the fact of having to purchase a new fuse lead, it all sounds like too much of a rigmarole for my liking. Add on fuse option it is, then! Thanks

Hi, Does anyone have a clue to how you painlessly gain access to the rear of the dashboard fuse box? I need to tap into a 12v power source for a RVC. I know how to drop the lower dash beneath the steering column, incidentally. Yes, I have read the guides for the Golf, but the Octavia is more awkward in the fact that the top and bottom mounting screw heads are (stupidly) partially obscured by a plastic dash crossmember. Otherwise I'm, stuck with the less than ideal option of going the piggy back fuse holder route. Cheers!

I also have an extra long qwashers hose. Can't fault it and the OEM hose never sees the light of day. Much better quality.

As for the squeal, check the condition of the connection O-rings. If they are perished and leaking, that can cause a frequent squeal, as the pump is constantly trying to maintain pressure.
-
Yep, Nilfisk > Karcher. At my time of purchase, Nilfisk used metal, as opposed to Karcher's inferior plastic pumps, at a similar price point. Though I can't speak for current models

Used to happen to me quite regularly, and always during a heavy downpour, much to my annoyance. I put I down to unwittingly sitting on my keys. Disabled auto window opening via key fob with VCDS, and problem disappeared.

I've owned both of those and tbh there's very little between them. The Goodyears will be hopeless in snow, if you don't have a dedicated set of winters, though. RS3s are one of the best vfm tyres going. As said, a bit soft, but awesome grip in most conditions.

Woohoo, got my letter of apology today, totally contradicting the all clear the Skoda VIN checker gave me a few weeks back... Seems I was right after all!
