MkII Kodiaq Order Book Opens
I’m actually seriously considering the not-so-Mini Countryman to replace my bear next year… the new version is getting rave reviews, is considerably bigger than it used to be (still more Karoq sized than Kodiaq, though). As long as the dog crate fits, it could be a serious contender, especially given it’s considerably cheaper. Also, still really not convinced by the looks of the Mk2 Kodiaq… it’s a bit fugly IMHO.

Stop start button intermittently not working.
Given JLR's continued reputation and regular positioning in reliability surveys, I'm going to go for: no.

Phone mount
My iPhone 14 Pro Max is, apparently, 240g. I use a Belkin MagSafe vent mount, which is another 160g according to the Amazon page: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-MagSafe-iPhone-Magnetically-Mounted/dp/B08LQVD6ZR I've had absolutely no issues with it or with the vent, so I don't think weight is going to be the issue. You just need a good quality mount that grips both the vent and the phone properly.

PCP settlement
Aye - I was reading 'cancel' to mean 'settle' and was guilty of conflating the two things, but it is an important distinction to make as they are two very separate things. With one, the 14-day legal cooling-off period applies, with the other, it's irrelevant.

PCP settlement
Check the terms and conditions carefully. VWFS provide the finance on new cars, but not sure about used ones. Dealers will often provide their own finance deals for used cars, which have nothing to do with VWFS. Regardless, you should have 14 days to withdraw from any credit agreement (legal cooling off period), but you may lose any credit incentives like free services / warranty etc. that comes with the finance. The T&Cs could be completely different to those that VWFS have for their agreements.

Speedometer Accuracy
I may be talking rubbish here, as I’m no expert on GPS… but my understanding is that 3 satellites are required for a 2D fix (long + lat), and 4 or more for a 3D fix (+ altitude). So if the GPS has a 3D fix, it can measure changes in all 3 dimensions, and can therefore show true speed in whatever direction you’re going - even if it was vertically off a cliff.

Eco (cruising) - how does that really work ?
If you have a drive mode button next to the gearstick (the one top right in the picture, highlighted yellow because a mode other than ‘normal’ has been selected), then press that to cycle through the modes, or press then select the mode you want from the infotainment screen. If you don’t have a drive mode button, then you can’t. Edit: but as others have said, this adjusts throttle repsonse and when the DSG ‘box changes up/down (and a few other things). It doesn’t permanently engage the ACT / 2-cylinder mode - there is no way of doing that.

Eco (cruising) - how does that really work ?
Yes… it does it occasionally in normal under the circumstances you describe, but in eco mode it will coast more often and at times it wouldn’t in normal.

MIB version and map updates
No, it doesn’t. The online bit also applies to the over-the-air map updates that you can do, instead of downloading the whole 20+GB bundle and farting about with a USB stick. Given that the OP was asking about ‘automatic map updates’, that implied to me the functionality that requires an Infotainment Online licence - it still isn’t completely automatic (as in it doesn’t just update in the background without you knowing (unless that has changed and it now does)), but it does at least ask if you set a route and updated maps are available that cover some/all of the route.

MIB version and map updates
Both of these have 'Online Map Update' listed as being under the 'Infotainment Online' licence. Also, I didn't renew, and my maps are now woefully out of date (don't care as I use CarPlay). https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/skoda-connect https://www.skoda.co.uk/apps/availability#/

MIB version and map updates
Hi… this is the Mk2 section, and as they’re not even available to order yet, I’m guessing you’re in the wrong place… But to answer your question, you need an active Skoda Connect licence to update the maps. The car will have come with a year free, and will be relatively up to date from the factory anyway. If memory serves me correctly, the map data is from here.com, so you could check their maps to see if your house is on there yet… https://maps.here.com

Guide: Apple iPhone native iOS notifications on BRISKODA - iOS 16.4 and above
Heh. Never mind… not an issue anyway, as Apple backtracked without being forced to for once! https://www.macrumors.com/2024/03/01/apple-walks-back-decision-to-disable-eu-web-apps/

Map - always on?
What makes you think you can’t? If it’s displaying the spider web of recent destinations, just hit the little arrow (in one of the corners, can’t remember which one as I don’t tend to use the built-in nav) to close that and show the map.

<off-topic, slightly> A by-product of turning this on seems to be that Safari on macOS now displays the Briskoda logo when you have it as a favourite - Safari on iOS / iPadOS has always done it (albeit with a white background, not a black one), which suggests something I've long suspected - Safari on macOS looks for a different favicon than on iOS / iPadOS or at least does something odd / different when looking. macOS: iOS / iPadOS: Anyway, if for no other reason that it fixed the favicon on macOS, thanks @Dean!

Apple CarPlay and Virtual Cockpit question.
Do you have built-in navigation? If not, then the software in the car won't have any navigation functionality and there will be no option to show nav directions (or map) on the VC. Therefore, no way of displaying CarPlay nav instructions either.

If you’re in the EU, then unfortunately this functionality will no longer be available from iOS 17.4… https://www.macrumors.com/2024/02/15/ios-17-4-web-apps-removed-apple/

Congratulations - ordering and receiving your new Kodiaq before the order books have even opened... 😱. Alternatively, you didn't really mean to post in the Mk2 section and should instead have posted in the Mk1 forum. Anyway, matters not... someone will probably be along shortly to move the topic into the correct place. In the meantime, you may want to take a look at:

Travel Assist not available *beep*
I'm happy to report that I'd completely forgotten about this as it still hasn't reoccured since the software was updated during the service in October. So I'm calling this 'cured', for me at least. Which means it'll happen again next time I go anywhere 🤦♂️.

Skoda kodiaq sportline door
The OP posted a picture of a Karoq door - not his damaged Kodiaq door…

Sat nav and other features dropped ?
It's MIB4 - same as on the new Tiguan, which has just opened for orders.

Kodiaq boot size
You probably know this already, but it’s stock only on the Kodiaq now (assuming you’re looking at new), with the Mk2 order books opening imminently. As for the boot, I’ve never not been able to fit everything I need into it - be that for family holidays to the south of France, trips to the tip or home from IKEA… it swallows everything up. As for the 7 seats, there always comes a time when it’s useful - sitting 2/1/1 so long boxes from IKEA can go down one side is one example. Grandparents visiting and only needing one car to take everyone out is another. I think Skoda UK are of the opinion that if you don’t want 7 seats, then the Karoq is the option for you.

What type of USB ports are they
Important to note that the two in the front are standard kit, but the two in the back and the one in the rear-view mirror are optional extras, so you may not have those ones.
