  1. I hadn't ridden a bike for about 45 years until a friend talked about his e-bike. I have no kneecap on one side and the other knee is very rough due to over-compensating for the one without kneecap. I thought long and hard about an e-bike and decided it was worth trying out as I was recovering form surgery and was feeling very unfit..... I had a demo (you can tell I am ex motor trade!) on a KTM e-bike with a Bosch Performance motor, which can triple the effort put in, and ten gears..... I couldn't believe it. My wife saw the look on my face when I returned to the showroom and without me saying anything, turned to the salesman and said "he wants it if you can do a decent deal!" The weather hasn't been kind since I got it, with snow and ice as well as tons of rock salt, so I've only ridden about 50 miles but loved every minute of it. My mistake was buying a bike in the winter but I save the £500 increase and got a great discount! One or two have suggested a e-bike is cheating but perhaps don't realise you can drop the power down to zero as you get fit.
  2. I came across the same "use by date" issue with the tyre gunge in my RAV 4 and after a lot of research bought the RAC Kit with not only had the tyre gunge (no use by date) and replacements are about £10... it came with a fabulous electric pump which is not only very effective but has a tyre pressure gauge that actually works!

    Service Book

If you want you can buy a generic service book from Amazon for approx £5....... If you don't use a Skoda dealer it would be worth it.
  4. The other thing which has been removed from the configurator is the option to have a different colured roof to the bodywork. e.g. White with a black roof.
  5. iPhone 4s in black...not on contract, so open to any network and It's complete with charger, cable and rubber bumper in green & black. A new unused Voda SIM card with £10 credit installed. There is a small scuff mark by home button, you can barely see, otherwise on excellent condition. Selling due to eyesight... Need a larger screen! £60 inc £10 SIM card I will pay carriage!
  6. It could be a car given to "the boss's wife" as part of his package. When checking condition.... I always checked the load area when I was buying in a used car for wear.... You can often see how the car has been looked after by looking in the boot!.... People will polish thee metal, but forget the boot. ALSO look to see if the steering wheel has areas at 10 to and 10 past which are worn flat. This can show a high mileage vehicle.
  7. I bought this one: RAC Tyre Maintenance & Emergency puncture repair kit suitable for all vehiclesIt was on Amazon for £29 for both Compressor and "Goo" kit. The compressor can be bought on its own and I have to say it's far better than the one supplied with the Yeti, Tiguan, Jazz and RAV4. It's as accurate as any of my several pressure gauges. You set the desired pressure and it cuts off when it's reached and as I say it's very accurate. The other big plus is it remembers the pressure you set it at so even if you use it "xyz" months later (OK I check my pressures fortnightly) it will remember the last pressure you set it at.
  8. I confirm with Jim's post.... If you have a sunroof the "submarine lights" don't work. This is a bit strange as my Tiguan, with pano roof, had submarine lights which worked!
  9. In the trade it's probably known as "characteristic of the model". It really doesn't help but it confirms its not just your car. In reality a huge number of new cars have the problem.... It's since they removed the old fashioned gutters which might not look good and disturbed the air flow but it kept you seat dry!
  10. I have a Garmin Nuvi satnav for sale which is virtually unused as I bought a car with built in navigation shortly after buying it! Purchased from John Lewis at the scandalous price of £299.95 + £25.95 for the travel pack (posh case!) I'm looking for £75 + postage which seems to be fair. OR ..... PM me with an offer!
  11. When I was in the trade we used this company and found them very professional. http://www.beamishtransport.co.uk/
  12. I agree about the camera in the dark. The one on my Yeti with an AmundsenII unit is amazing... Far better than the one I had on my 2013 Tiguan. It feels as if the reversing light is ultra bright. I have had reversing cameras on my last 4 cars and this is the best yet.
  13. A friend, who is very hard to please, tried Webuyanycar out of interest just before he advertised his car. I couldn't believe it when he said he'd sold it to them for £50 less than he wanted for the car. He waited, on-site, until his bank confirmed the money was in his account. It's worth a try, you've got nothing to lose.
  14. I am ex motor trade, starting as a salesman the progressing to sales manager. I have worked at Toyota, Honda, Citroen and Volvo dealerships and we always made "follow up calls" (AKA Courtesy Calls or Cuddle Calls!). I'm a firm believer these should happen. You have recently made the second most expensive purchase you have ever made (or if you are as old as me, when houses were less expensive, the most expensive purchase ever made) and a courtesy call lets the customer know that the salesman and dealer care. When on the sales floor I never missed a followup call and they were always appreciated - The only exception was when I rang and asked a lady how she was enjoying her new Toyota Corolla, she said she didn't have a new Corolla. I apologized and said I must have rung the wrong number, - The next day her husband rang and explained the car was for "a lady friend" and she really loved it. - He did ask me to change the phone number and address for any letters and calls from the dealership to go to his office!
  15. I had both camera and park assist on my Tiguan. I tried park assist to see how it worked, then never used it again. The camera was invaluable. When I specced my Yeti I opted for front parking sensors (rear ones were standard) and the rear view camera. I prefer the Yeti Camera on the Amunsen II as it has a wider field of view than my Tiguan... In fact I can even see a bit of the rean number plate! The picture above shows, in yellow, where the car should end up with the steering wheel at that angle. The Yeti one doesn't show the yellow box but I prefer it as it's brighter and a wider angle. IMHO the Park Assist is a bit of a novelty but a camera is essential.
  16. The heated windscreen is the answer! It works a treat.... I even use it in summer on a wet day if we have been out walking and it saves condensation.
  17. I think the silver needs a black roof to "set it off", then it looks great. I went for Cappuccino with Gobi Sand Leather trim and have to say, to me, it's perfect............ I am disabled and am unable to wash the car as often as I'd like and find the Cappuccino never looks really dirty and when polished has a bit more warmth than silver. The Gobi sand brightens up the cabin substantially and the leather looks better after 16,000 miles than the black leather did in my Tiguan when I sold it with 15,000 on the clock.
  18. I am a member of Mytiguan.com. Ok it's for Tiguans (no surprise there!) but depending which engine the Passat has, you might get some useful tips.... They are a great crowd.
  19. I concur with Paul's post. I used to have a Hatchbag and found it exceptionally hard wearing.... I used to put outboard motors and other marine equipment in and found it survived very well. Also items didn't slide around as they would in a hard plastic area.
  20. I hope they let you..... When I asked to change the wheels on mine, I was told by the dealer, because I'd been allocated a build week if I changed anything I'd go to the back of the queue. I didn't believe them.... I thought it was a dealer trying to save changing the paperwork. So I contacted Skoda directly and was told exactly the same thing.I hope you have better luck than me.
  21. I thought this was correct.... It was on the Tiguan but on the Yeti you don't need to press the footbrake when starting.... This really surprised me.... It has been referenced somewhere on a previous post when I made this observation and was confirmed by another member when he tried it!
  22. Regarding postcode lookup I have posted this before, but to save you searching.....
Try this!
Post Code Lookup on Amundsen 2
1: Start New destination
 2: Tap Town/City
3: Then tap "ptcd " tucked away in the bottom left corner - you're getting there!.
4: Wait for it - you can't just tap in the post code,
5: Change the keypad from numbers to letters (bit stupid as all UK PC start with letters)
5: Enter the initial letter(s)
6: Change the keypad to numbers
 7: Enter the initial number(s)
 8: Change Keypad to letters
 9: enter a space
10: Change Keypad back to numbers
 11: Enter second number
12: Change keypad back to letters
 13: Enter final letters
14: Tap the destination offered (if you managed to get that far before putting your fist through the screen!!!

******. The above will not allow you to enter a house number, so.......
When entering the postcode only enter 5 or 6 letters / numbers.
Leave the last 1 or 2 then press "Next" or "OK". You can then enter the street and number.
  23. Surely they cannot regard the heated seat as a wear and tear item. I would certainly expect it to be covered.
