  1. I have only ever left two bad reviews. Mainly, I am happy to just not got 'there' again, but sometimes you just have to name and shame. It isn't a nice thing to do, although some folk seem to live to give bad reviews, but for the greater good. I was treated in a shocking way on an Approved Used car by Marshall early last year. Car supplied in a dangerous condition, bad clutch and a whole host of other problems. Put simply, they lied. The complaint was brushed aside, even at group franchise director level. Too big to care and I advise everyone to avoid.
  2. That is terrible service, sorry to hear of it. What would a couple of batteries for your keys of cost them? What good will would it have earned them and their reputation. I think you should do the community a favour and fully share your experience.
  3. Fingers crossed all goes ok.
  4. The lights were different. The FLift had clear plastic lenses, the original were glass IIRC.
  5. Welcome to Briskoda That should make your trip down to Spain post lockdown an absolute breeze!
  6. Auto gear box switch? Car thinks it's in gear? Worth checking the earth strap and battery connections.
  7. I had my Mk1 Octi 1.6 Ambient for 12 yrs. I still miss it, best car I've ever owned, which I think I put in just about every forum post !! I keep my eye out in the classifieds for a replacement MK1 Octi. Ideally a 1.9 TDi silver estate in Elegance or L+K trim. @mb09 That is some serious mileage. Is the highest on the forum?
  8. Welcome to Briskoda.
  9. The MK1 Superb is a great looking car. Sadly, they are getting to be a rare sight on UK roads.
  10. Classic!
  11. No worries. The needle would do all manner of weird things some times. I've still got a spare in the garage even though my Mk1 went 3yrs ago! I woud have thought Youtube would show where the part is located, the 2.0 engine is in so many vag cars. Replacement will be <£10 if you can diy.
  12. Oh dear. Marshall are terrible, too big to care.
  13. In my MK1 Otci I replaced 3 of these over 12yrs of ownership. I don't know your 2.0 TDi CR engine, but the temp sensor was part of the thermostat housing.
  14. i'd say you've hit the nail on the head already. The temperature sensors are know to fail and are easy to replace cheaply. That is what I would try first. HTH
  15. If the car is decent, put decent oil in it. What is the point of saving a few quid on oil when it is literally the life blood of your cars powerplant? I'm as tight as they come, but Shell, Mobil, Castrol and other well known oils are only ever a few quid more. Just my opinion, but is that £10 or whatever really worth saving? Think of all the time and money spent finding a car in the first place, and then save a couple of shekels come service time? Doesn't add up to me.
  16. Agreed. Stick the premium in a savings account and self insure. Enjoy the massive 0.5% interest Well said ! So not really worth the paper it's printed on !!
  17. Pleased it was an easy fix! Saves a lot of time and money. Euros are normally decent about these things. Compare one with the other at branch, and you may see a small difference. I have fitted both Eicher and Pagid. IMHO Pagid are worth the few quid extra. Better fit and quality.
  18. According to the Skoda website, the "ŠKODA Extended Warranty is sold and administered by Lawshield UK and underwritten by Volkswagen Versicherung AG. Terms, conditions, and eligibility criteria apply." I would treat it like any other insurance product, shop around and find which policy offered the best cover and value for money. Read the exclusions and T&C's of the products to know what you actualy buying. The Skoda logo on the paperwork won't be much use to you if it doesn't cover what you need. PS: Use the search facility on this forum and you will find posts about other members experiences. HTH
  19. That's great service and low costs. Good to hear about reliable cars! They are in most places !!
  20. That is a really good point. Blindingly obvious now you've said it, but not crossed my mind or read about before. 90% of people are right handed, so the screen in the centre of the car only works for people that drive on the right! Floored design. Never have that problem with traditional controls mind. Tech...grrrrr. Very good!
  21. Just read this: https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/fleet-industry-news/2021/01/28/vehicles-fail-mot-in-record-numbers-due-to-emissions?utm_campaign=28_01_2021_FN_daily_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=FN - Newsletter - Daily&utm_source=adestra&utm_term=Vehicles fail MOT in record numbers due to emissions&gutid=6581 I wonder if the 'Lockdowns' and lack of use play a part in this?
  22. There was a post today re the new Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo trim, and Autocar were not impressed in one regard "but manual HVAC knobs on a near-£28,000 small Skoda seem a bit mean to us." Err no. Proper heater controls are much easier to use! To my mind they should have written "even though it costs any eyewatering £28k for a relatively small car, at least its got proper heater controls and a real handbrake!" Sadly, they have done away with real dials and installed a small ipad instead. I have just had a look on Skoda UK website, and apparently all Octavia now have a whole host of technical gubbins fitted. Even the base model has: Virtual Cockpit with 10.25" display, Hill start assist, Light and rain sensor, Rear parking sensors with manoeuvre assist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7dhp2crYzc DAB digital radio Bluetooth Wireless SmartLink for Apple Car Play only (wired for Android Auto and mirrorlink) Electronic parking brake eCall https://www.penguin.co.uk/articles/2015/nineteen-eighty-four-by-george-orwell.html OK. So, now I realise the current Octi is not for me as it has far too much tech fitted. How about the lovely Fabia? Surely, even in my favoured boggo/poverty spec steel wheel trim version will be free of all this unwanted junk fitted right? 'Front assist' fitted as standard! Even the most basic car now brakes for me. A quick search of Briskoda and the net confirms that these are not without their problems. Oh dear. Hey it's just a forum, and my opinion. Some will argue for the safety benefit of Autonomous Emergency Braking, questionable.
  23. When replacing a sensor that involves so much labour, I would be tempted to fit the very best available to reduce the likelihood of having to replace again. That cheapo part of ebay could be a false economy. 182000 miles in a 2015 car! Taxi?
  24. I would start by looking at the brakes again, as it is the part that has just been touched. Loose pin, bolt or carrier etc could be the cause, and it shouldn't take long to check. Once you've checked that, then you can be sure and cross that off the list of possibles. HTH
  25. Great advice. Systems just need to reset themselves and all will be well.
