Windscreen condensation problem
I get that with my Roomster. As these car do not have gutters moisture runs off the roof and into the seals and freezes. I am surprised that as Czech winters may be colder than the UK this problem has not been factored into the design. Also after rain when opening the door I get a wet seat.

oil service message - cheapest service option?
So prices have been increased no doubt under the excuse of Brexit. How on earth can Skoda justify £105 for spark plugs, even worse if you need three. Customers will rebel on these prices and turn to independents. I ditched my dealer and got a better deal with my local independent who fits genuine VAG parts. Just noticed the air and pollen filter prices - joke.

Ridiculous Skoda main dealer servicing costs
It is rather like ink-jet printers and cartridge replacement costs. You buy the car and then the servicing costs are high enough to pay for the showroom, technician, service manager, service representative and receptionist. I have left the main dealer network and a very good independent garage does my servicing now at less cost. The dealer charging £99 for spark plugs proves that Skoda believe that customers are a bunch of idiots.

How did cars end up with so much tech fitted?
Cars are stuffed with too much electronic technology. At the tender age of 18 i owned my first car a Morris Minor. By golly I safely drove that and then I owned a range of 'dumb' models. HA Viva, BL Mini, Dolomite, Ford Orion. And then my first injection Fiat Multipla. My current car is a Roomster which lacks hill start, cruise control, lane assist, emergency braking assist and infotainment screen. Oh to keep to the simple life

Speed resistor pack
Very helpful. Did you need to disconnect the airbag or is the lead long enough to push it to one side? Did you have trouble lifting the airbag and plastic cover to gain access to resistor pack?

Speed resistor pack
Not having speed 1 available for aircon or heater is driving me nuts. I like the quietness yet effectiveness of a wafting heat or aircon on speed 1. I am taking the bull by the horns and do it myself after watching the youtube videos. What I can't ascertain is how the resistor pack locates. Is there an electrical plug or does it slip in between metal contacts and what is the part number? There is a Europarts depot within easy reach so I won't have to order it online.

Spark plugs
Our local car spares lists around 4 types of spark plugs such as platinum or iridium tips at various prices. What one I should choose?

CENTRAL LOCKING ROOMSTER.....HELP
Too be honest this is the first car I have had with Remote locking. It is nice to have but not a game changer and I could easily live without it. Something extra to go wrong but it is handy to find your car in a busy car park but that is not often.

CENTRAL LOCKING ROOMSTER.....HELP
Looking at the brochure (I have kept for 7 years) your model is the 'S'. Remote Central Locking was £150 optional extra

Missing info on display
I was scrolling through the info screens (not the Maxidot) and the screen after the outside temperature shows mph in an elongated circle with dashes. Am I right to assume that after setting the speed limiter, the dashes will be replaced with my speed every time my preset speed is exceeded? Or is it used for another function?

CENTRAL LOCKING ROOMSTER.....HELP
Do not the keys fold into the remote fobs. The fobs and key are integral. Supply a picture.

engine rattle on start-up
The first couple of services by the main dealer the oil used was Shell Helix Ultra 0w 30W and it was not such a problem. The dealership changed and they used Castrol 5W 30 Edge and the noise returned. Currently the independent used 5W 30W and a Skoda recommended oil and it occasionally happens. On these engines the thinner the better.

engine rattle on start-up
Mine does it. I have had the car since new and being 2013 reg it should have the revised tensioner. It does not do it every time but what I have been finding is that if I rest my foot on the throttle pedal during start up the rattle happens but if I start the car with my foot well away its a quiet start. Perhaps I am mad!!

Siren life
I may test it. Keep the missus in the car and lock it like I accidently did with my grandson while I popped into the paper shop.

Siren life
While sitting in the supermarket car park waiting for the missus to finish the weekly shop I sometimes read the owner's manual to pass the time. On page 32 referring to the siren/alarm it mentions that the working life of the siren is only 5 years. That is pretty naff and what is there to go wrong? I am surprised that the service record does not recommend a replacement siren after 5 years as Skoda love to rip us all off.

2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
I am hoping my 7-year-old Roomster will see me out. It is still like new and keeping it another 10 years is feasible and I might not fancy driving over the age of 80 with insurance companies hiking premiums to encourage me off the road. Perhaps driving a ICE will have a social stigma with people holding their noses as I drive past and VED rates going through the roof as I will be branded as a guilty party wrecking the environment.

Air filter at 60k/6 years!
This service schedule fits all is wrong. My sister-in-law owns a Fabia and drives 3000 miles per year so when she has a major service the plugs, oil and filters have only done a minimum of their designed life.

2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
An Amazon delivery van parked in our road yesterday and I noticed it was a Mercedes the size of a Transit. It had written 100% electric written on the side. Amazon has the resources to invest in these vehicles but I doubt if local businesses have the cash to follow suit.

Skoda Rapid 2017 1.4 TSI Hatchback
Mate of mine runs a 20 year-old VW Passat 1.8T and at 100k decided to have the fuel filter changed and asked the garage to keep the old filter for inspection. On taking the old filter apart he found hardly any debris in the element

1.2TSI Crankcase Breather Hose One Way Valve Replacement Guide
PS. A pictorial instruction of replacing the fan speed resistor pack located under the airbag would be useful as that is my next job.

1.2TSI Crankcase Breather Hose One Way Valve Replacement Guide
That was so helpful to see it in pictures. I had an independent fit mine as I had the tell-tale slight oil stain and the smell in the cabin. I believe mine was broken when I had a major service at a Skoda dealer and when they replaced the air filter they lifted off the top of the airbox and the pipe connecting the airbox to the pcv valve has no give in it and put leverage on the end valve and fractured the plastic.

Spark Plugs
As long as you have breakdown cover I would not worry about spares. I until covid, took my Roomster abroad and I had no issues. Last year we drove through France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland without a hitch
