  1. Gawd..... Don't you start!!!!
  2. Sparrows in the pampas
  3. I've edited my post.. apologies for the confusion... Thing is.. I've had my plates made like this for close to 20 years. They've been through mot's and the police, on the rare occasion I've been stopped, either don't notice or don't care. The mot manual doesn't check and the Gov site doesn't mention it. So, since you know it's illegal, what law is being broken? Genuine question.
  4. Edited because I'm a bit confused... Not at all... You claimed they were illegal so, presumably, you know the law that is being broken.
  5. Maybe it's an option for freedom members.... I dunno fella, sorry, it's there when I click the 3 dots.
  6. In the top right corner of your post there's 3 little dots...... should be an edit option there if it's available..
  7. I mean the specific offence. For someone (not you) to state they're illegal they (again, not you) must know the specific offence and be able to provide a link.
  8. It's just some text on a plate... as an advertising medium I'd hazard a guess it's quite poor too. If I wanted something different I'd remove the fitted plates and change them (which I usually do anyway, to plates with no other markings apart from the reg number).
  9. Sorry to bump this... Would 1u0920841b clocks plug and play??
  10. Well that was, at times, edge of my seat and jaw dropping stuff!! Please don't judge me, it's been a slow week..... What the eff is going on at Mercedes...
  11. I have sold many cars that I was particularly fond of in order to relieve a separate, urgent, financial burden - these days it would depend on what they are.. I've also sold a few because the running costs were unjustifiable... But nobody would pressure me into it. I'd get a cover on the Capri.
  12. Can't remember the reg of most of them. Unfortunately. (most would be scrapped now I reckon)..
  13. Couldn't find the one I started so ebay to the rescue!!
  14. Quite enjoyed the highlights, considering it was Monaco. I like seeing Hamilton win but it was good see a fresh set of names at the top.. And especially Norris on the podium.
  15. We're changing front door speakers and have ordered a pair of JBL Stage1 speakers.. Just read there's a difference between component and coaxial, I thought that components were same hardware with an additional tweeter.. We've bought coaxial. Of course. Can I run the tweeters in the door directly from the 6.5" speaker? If not, how do I do it? I could just run the coaxials for now and sort it properly when I have a clue... is this the better option? Sorry for being a plum.... it's a bit of a curse...
  16. Been looking into the pitiful sound from the stereo... Apart from some (very) low rent jvc speakers.....
  17. Do folk generally just change the main 6.5" ones or the tweeters too? If tweeters too, do I need to do the wiring and crossovers as well or can I plug and play? (it's in a Mk1 Combi, not sure it makes a difference hence I've asked here)
  18. @daz1986 would you mind sharing which shark fin you went for please? I need one for one of our cars and don't trust online reviews..
  19. New rear wiper arm and blade (this is Golf 5, Polo etc so has the cutout for the wiper mount washer jet - better than what was on there though). Could really do with a new rust-free tailgate. Or a friendly, local, bodyshop.
  20. Great thread... Thanks mate.. Pound to a pinch of **** it'll be the priciest option and, therefore, the thing I try last. Opened the nsr door the other day and there was a lot of water on the shut... Felt the carpet and it didn't feel damp then. But it is now (we've hit some whopper puddles lately though)
  21. We're not great at this but had a bash at cleaning it today..
  22. Carpets in both rear footwell are damp.. Is there a most likely cause? And an easy fix?
  23. Well, the SAI is being mapped out (stage 1 next week) and the plan is to remove the hardware over the summer. It'll be a joint effort, probably get swmbo to do the stuff under the car.. she's not going to like the look of all the vac hoses etc up top.
