  1. Check wheel-size dot com the wheel/tyre size calculator ... put the details in and it will tell you the rolling circumference/speed diff/speedo mis-read etc, etc ... make your mind up from there.
  2. Thanks to those replies, anyone else with some views?
  3. Thanks, high mileage doesn't really bother me, its more how it was done and in what scenario, I have personally taken several Volvos to over 300k without issues, a motorway warrior car doesn't bother me, but a taxi /private hire does ... I've seen some awful maintained cars in that world that are ground down with no or little maintenance, knackered suspension, shot brakes engine oil like tar, but interiors looking not too bad because they smartly used seat covers etc, the are then given a mop to make the surface look good at a glance when dumped. Yup I'm long enough in the tooth to know what to look for, just trying to get a grip on what the lie of the land in the high milers (many of which seem to have originated from "taxi/cab centres."
  4. Any thing particular on your mind Awesam? I am aware of the 1.5 TSI issues that impact most of the VAG world, and unless that has been fixed under the care of the previous owner, I'd rather he give that particular engine a miss.
  5. Hi, my son-in-law is needing a bigger car to hump about all the paraphernalia of a toddler .... he is quite smitten with the Superb 2016-on, but looking in the West of Scotland area they seem to be eye wateringly expensive ... certainly via Uncle Arnold, so I'd like some helpful views on the following please ... Most of the pre owned cars seem to fall into the following two brackets for a 2018/19 registered cars ... a/ 10-30k miles and just shy of £24k retail (full main dealer service stamps) and akin to rocking horse droppings to find. b/ 70-85k miles and in the ballpark of £20k retail (patchy or fleet service stamps) and forecourts are full of them, esp the estate. My take on this is they are all over priced and the a/ cars are either privately owned and just finished their PCP deals, or low milage company leases. The b/ cars are either motorway warriors just finished their company lease or Taxi's at the end of their leases. Question, am I correct in my thinking re the b/ cars and does anyone actually know if the majority of these cars are actually used as taxi's/private hire or not ... (my guessing due to the number with poor bodywork and approx 80k miles at 3-4 years old,) and actual privately owned cars which are fairly hard to find at sensible prices, or just hard to find at all. Cheers for any input , thoughts etc guys (or lassies.)
  6. For all it costs, just go to a Skoda dealer and buy one, then you will know you have the correct one and a reference for the future ... even BMW dealers only charge £1.15 for a sump washer for my X3 ... I seriously expect it to cost only a few pounds in total, ..... Worth it to save the fuss and stress of ... "do I have the correct one or not."
  7. I had to argue with the Master Tech to get the screen cleaned when mine was last done ... when it was he actually stated that is was fairly gunked up but VAG don't recommend cleaning ... and they very rarely do it 😱
  8. Oh many a delusional owner has been caught by that .... esp with VAG unfortunately "oh yes its on the service menu/schedule, but we don't advise or prompt ... you should have asked!"
  9. We has the RGM stainless steel version (very tough) worked well, but ours was Moon White.
  10. Yeah, I believe the stubby on the roof does DAB, and GPS, I believe the AM/FM utilises the heated rear window ... but I'm sure someone will confirm.
  11. We had that issue along with the navagated to destination being anywhere within 10 miles of the car, this was all at approx 3 years old, despite the dealer doing several head unit firmware upgrades/resets/drinking coffee and staring at it with purpose. It also had a replacement antenna, it was eventually resolved by replacing the Amundsen II headunit. Luckily we had reported it just before our 3rd year service, so Skoda Warranty paid for it as it had been several weeks before a resolution was found. Fingers crossed it just the antenna as I guess all Yeti's are out of warranty now.🤞
  12. Has the fuel filter has been changed?
  13. Yes you can..... its the same floor pan, and all the same options ... only diff I'm aware off is the towbar hitch storage moved to the foam box at the side of the wheel rather than under the wheel where the AD-blu tank now sits. A spare in a 150BHP Yeti with 4WD is totally possible and was a factory and after-market option.
  14. "They can’t locate the ‘pad’ anymore, they don't have a part number apparently and they don’t think it’s needed. " Ah, don't you just love garages/repair agents/bodyshops that know better than the manufacturers, get on to your insurers and kick up stink about them using second rate repairers and them omitting to replace parts from your vehicle during/after the so called repair.
  15. Have you checked the reluctor rings, for being split/missing or otherwise damaged? Good place to start.
  16. As it has 2 SD slots and no CD drive I think its an Admunsen 2 head unit.
  17. Would be interested as to what the cost on this was .... PilotPete didn't mention it although I'd guess it was significantly less than a Skoda main dealer/Skoda who seem happy to do unit replacement rather than block or component repairs .... in line with most other manufacturers.
  18. One of the "old threads" on this subject has been resurrected, maybe worth a check out. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/483352-2016-lk-yeti-touchscreen-admunsen-issue/
  19. Hi don't know what your search criteria you are using but try simplifying it to "Admunsen touchscreen" should provide some hits. The screen is replaceable and there are posts on the forum about it and how its been done double check I think the 2016 Yeti L&K had an Admunsen plus (maybe Admunsen +) unit. They are not the same, similar but not the same, procedure should be similar though.
  20. Welcome, have a search of the forums lots of posts and replacements on this subject.
  21. Should state water is from a soft water area on the wet west coast.
  22. I concur with Prestone being mixed with other screenwashes causes issues ... I tend to use 25L Carplan from one of the big factors, but when I used a bottle of Prestone in an emergency, I got white gelatinous lumps forming in the screen bottle ... after returning home and cleaning it all out and replenishing with the bulk Carplan ... issue never returned albeit I never reused Prestone again. My experience and opinion.
  23. OK, you learn every day, although in 40+ years of VAG ownerships I have never seen a non VAG branded battery supplied in a new vehicle from VAG that I have owned. ☝️ Well a slight relief that the batteries are lasting more than 2 years but I'm honestly surprised at it needing replaced quite so quickly.
  24. Going to ask a question on this for the OP ...... if your Yeti is a 2016 model and is currently fitted with an Exide battery, then what makes you think you need another replacement battery? The Exide battery is not the original fitment, that would be marked with "Skoda, Seat, Audi and Volkswagen," if its an Exide branded battery then it has already been replaced for some reason suggesting a problem which is still there as you seem to think your Yeti is requiring its third battery in 5/6 years .... does not seem correct ... I'd honestly would have expected the original "Skoda" battery to have lasted approx. 8 years or longer. 🤔
  25. Spudger ... quaint old name for a nylon or wooden non-marking pry tool.
