  1. Again you are literally focusing in few words I wrote. I said 8 out of 100 times I'm talking about special circumstances that are not happening on daily basics. But even one of those makes the system repeating my self unsafe, unreliable and useless. Its better NOT to have this sort of system than to have it done halfway. I'm repeating, I have never, EVER dazzled anyone with my V90, nor any other cars with Matrix headlights that I've driven which range from A4, A6 to Mercedes E class (not actual matrix, but similar system). My Superb, was calibrated, tests confirmed all was working as specified by Skoda (got papers for both times it was calibrated) and the system was still not working as it should by my safety standards. I'm done cause I'm starting to sound like broken record, repeating myself over and over.
  2. You don't truly get what I'm saying... I never said Superb isn't worth its money. I never claimed I expected the same headlights wise. AFS is slower, but we're talking about few MILLISECONDS when it comes to MATRIX vs AFS. What I'm talking about is SECONDS. 5-10 seconds between detecting the car while I was already blinding people. I'm talking about the speed when system detects a car and starts doing something... That has nothing to do with Headlight it self. You can see when motors start turning/shading the beam and that doesn't take much longer on Superb, compared to other cars I've driven. Superb is king of best value for money.... Of course it is. But I would NOT offer SLA rather than offer unreliable/unsafe system that can actually dazzle other people instead of prevent that which is its MAIN PURPOSE. P.S.: Matrix headlight isn't so much better because of the way LED's react (speed), but the point is that the beam is much more "dense" which makes light far better distributed than Xenon which uses reflectors and lens and that control over lightning is more precise, so you can also point light to sides better and also when there is rain you can make reflective shine from asphalt less annoying (mercedes is doing that for example). So Matrix wasn't truly invented to make headlights respond faster...
  3. That's exactly what I'm saying, seriously what are you reading??? I'm saying that SLA on Superb is useless since it doesn't work properly all the time......... If I dazzle 8 drivers out of 100 it already makes system piece of ****... As it creates 8 unnecessary dangerous/unwilling situations which would be avoided in manual mode. I dazzled 0 drivers since I bought my V90 which is now about month and half old.
  4. And tell them what? Some times SLA doesn't detect rear headlights and sometimes it doesn't react to cars but sometimes it works perfectly fine? How would they debug/fix that? I did have 2 recalibrations though, first time because of SLA software upgrade and second time because of a windshield change while they messed something up with camera and system didn't work at all. But it was always same. I never said it doesn't work at all, I just said it works poorly compared to other brands I drove. Specially Audi. Audi's adaptive matrix headlights (A6 2018+) work so well that u never need to do anything... There was nothing to get fixed? You pay the money to get assistance with headlights, not to have to manually work with the headlights, seriously haha.... Also you can not do what SLA does manually... It shades cars and leaves full beam on, giving you extra safety. When it works and you're not dazzling other people which is actually LESS safe than having the system in the first place. In some cars, these headlights actually work amazingly. They improve visibility which improves safety. It can be very helpful in countries where there is a lot of wildlife on road (like where I drive most of the time). So they're actually worth a lot if executed properly. It can also mean you don't hit a pedestrian that doesn't walk properly on road (in my country no one uses any reflection, so they're easy to miss, specially drunk people)
  5. I know exactly how Skoda's SLA works as I've taken apart a headlight and messed with it for fun. The issue is when the car doesn't react AT All... And that's what's been happening to me all the time. Reaction time isn't that bad as you may believe. And on Volvo there are also mechanical shutters/rollers... They're just faster. Even the AFS on Volvo is 3x faster (the way turning lights work in low beam mode). The technology of headlight is not an issue with what I was experiencing on SLA. Issue was when I got behind a car and car took 4-5 seconds to see there is car upfront to even start moving shutters, which move very fast as they don't need to travel far in small Xenon housing....... As I said I do not agree with your point of view at all. I don't care how good/bad headlight is, while the camera should START sending reaction signals much faster as it can be very unsafe to relay on SLA. While the thing is that if you don't wait for SLA to react, you're left with literally manual high beam... So you need to dezzle other drivers in order to see SLA working. I didn't drive just one SLA Superb though, but I do not disagree its possibly the issue was only on the few specific cars I've driven. So back to my point, headlights have nothing to do with the super slow camera reaction times that I've been experiencing. I'm talking about seconds reaction times, not few ms that mechanical parts of the SLA headlight take.
  6. SLA on Superb was presented in 2015-2016 while Halogen lights were presented on cars in 1983, Xenon was first seen in BMW 7 in 1991 and V90's full LED were presented in 2017. So how the heck does your comparison work??? Headlights have almost NOTHING to do with the problem I was talking about (other than the speed of shading)..... The problem isn't in the headlight it self, but in the radar/camera detecting other cars/people/trucks...... Which is totally different UNIT that has literally nothing to do with headlight it self. Skoda has either very poor software using the camera hardware or the camera is simply bad. If you create a system that's supposed to do some real useful shading make it work properly, not half way. I had SLA on Superb for 2 years and most of my drive was at night and the system was just not reliable as it should be. The price difference between Volvo and Skoda is obviously huge... So it's impossible comparison in that way. But you can not compare Halogen headlight to anything. Because Xenon exists long enough and LED isn't actually "brighter" it's just more controllable. But in the end the issue we are talking about here, is not the headlight but its the camera that doesn't know what's car and what's not. Both Volvo and Superb use same camera for Lane Assist system than for SLA/Full Adaptive LED. It is literally apples and apples, there is no oranges P.S.: Beam related, Xenon on Superb actually had longer range than my Volvo's LED. However the density and the beam pattern on Volvo is just far superior and that's where LED shines. However there are many more lights in headlight so it makes perfect sense too. But that costs whopping money too.
  7. I've had SLA on my Superb and I found it rubbish sometimes and sometimes very useful. After going for Volvo V90 with Full Adaptive LED, I can say Superb's system was rubbish in comparison. The way camera reacts on Volvo, it is far safer and better. Superb could never react in turn like when the camera doesn't see behind the twisty road, but the Volvo can somehow react far faster. Also when I got to someone from behind on far away, Superb took soooooo long to turn off the headlights, I've had to intervene a lot of times. Also highways in Slovenia were terrible experience, here Volvo isn't much better. Camera simply can't see over the fence well. I believe if human can understand lights computer can as well. Computer can react faster than brain if properly coded. If I were to buy another Superb without Matrix (cause I don't know how those work) I would avoid SLA.
  8. I've had Superb for 2 years and 70.000km (Additional noise insulation, a lot of noise fixes (with various tapes, foams etc) and upgraded canton subwoofer). I bought 1 year used Volvo V90 with 66K km on clock for same price as new Superb. After driving 12K km on Volvo with Bowers sound system I can easily say that Superb can't match this class in anyway but styling. My V90 is much quieter, ZERO suspension noise, everything works perfectly (the adaptive LED headlights respond MUCH faster and better to other cars), the sound system is far superior (much expensiver too) and the drive comfort is just better. There is nothing I miss about Superb but the interior space for rear passengers and cargo bay loading options (the nets on Superb were much better than what Volvo has) and the low fuel consumption. The 8 speed auto on volvo is just amazing, the ride quality is amazing, the way car works, drives, suspension, handling, comfort, it's just better in every way.... Noise wise even with additional noise insulation in Superb, Volvo is quieter inside. I can't understand how someone can compare an 70K worth car with 33K worth car. It makes no sense at all. There are always trade offs. The important thing is if you can live with them? I couldn't I admit. My superb drove me crazy. Literally. I was soo unsetisfied with the car after 2 years that I had to get rid off it and I lost a lot of money and I just don't care. My experience with Mercedes E class however is different than Martins. I think that his test E class must've had a error. I had 2 week testing with E220d avant and it was soo quiet I couldn't hear anything till 120kph. Literally NOTHING but engine at radio on mute. After 120kph I started to hear a little wind noise, but it was soo quiet... whisper quiet. I went for Volvo because in long run it's cheaper to run than merc and the interior design is far better in my view. Of course that's just my opinion.
  9. My suspension noise was never resolved in MK3 Superb. It pushed me that far that I've bought Volvo V90 instead. Price can't match of course, but at least all the damn noise is gone...
  10. Piece of warning, manual states that upgrading speakers is dangerus because it can mess with the side air crash sensors. I wouldn't risk it. Essentially it means that sound deadening is also not allowed (which I did).
  11. I have same thing. It's just the endings of flaps are made out of rubber. You can not access these flaps without removing a lot of other stuff than just vents. P.S.: I find it normal, as the rubber seals the tube, it's just softer so it squeaks a little. It's not big deal. I've had same for 2 years.
  12. I have some sort of rattle in left doors and I can't get rid of it. Took door apart and couldn't find the source. So annoying.
  13. I find it weird that window would create noise under driving conditions as the seals there are "textiled" or how its called. The noise on my superb comes from door seals not window seals and other Superb's I've driven.
  14. I know. You just detailed my comment. But in theory repairing parts like ABS module would be far cheaper than replacing it whole.
  15. I sincerely doubt that whole ABS module is faulty... There is a lot going on inside, someone with skills could fix the unit itself. But I truly understand why this is never done (time wise). It's simply cheaper/easier to replace the whole unit. That's how car industry works today. It works same for most parts in the car. If the light up/down motors are broken, no one will go and replace only the motor. They will replace the whole headlight.
  16. You should look at the top of headlight there is small "rubber tube". That tube is there to get moisture out. Make sure it has free flow by sticking toothpick or something through. but not too far.
  17. Yea slippage wise, TC is defo far better yeah. It was designed for trucks :=). Too bad most VW cars don't even have an option to get "normal auto". But for "normal" use if you don't ride clutch, it's also totally fine 😃
  18. Very interesting! Well VW/Renault defo don't replace oil in manuals. I don't understand how dual clutch isn't as good for towing as manual? In fact I'd say DSG is better as it's always run under oil (less issues with overheating) and it has multiple clutches in two packs? It's also made bit more robust. I'm no expert on DSG, but cool to know towing isn't good for clutches 😃 As far as I see, u can tow without issues. And by logic DSG is more robust then Manual. P.S.: However, "riding" auto clutches is much easier than manual (as u have no control) and that will defo destroy clutches... This video is perfect explanation.
  19. Manual doesn't require oil change at all. In fact most people don't ever replace oil in manual transmission. Scheduled maintenance wise, Skoda does not recommend replacing oil on manual gearboxes. Rest I would agree 😃
  20. I can remove these with hand without problem. Just pull them off with fingers and it should go easy. These are not as hard as most plastics in car.
  21. Happy to hear that. Though I don't have issues with clips nor metal clip inside doors. I fixed/replaced all those my self. I'm so tired of this car to be honest. I fix something, 1 week its all quiet, nice and then something else starts messing... Its like its coursed. I'm replacing it with something else very soon. I lost a lot of money, but I don't care.
  22. I completely agree, but in automobile industry its totally different standards. It's already absurd that you need to pay additional 1300€ for upgrade to Columbus from standard interface. For little better screen, slightly better processor. For 1000€ I get 4K OLED TV 55 inch with Quad Core CPU with zero lag with GPU/Menus/Playback. And for 300€ left I get an 1TB SSD for storage. Like the pricing for various stuff in cars is just absurd. Literally... Crazy. And then with OLED TV in 1 year I get about 6-7 updates for various small things like fixes, improvements, etc... In car, well u know
  23. Doesn't look like there are any updates to these units. My mothers Octavia is 2014 and 0 updates too. Manufacturers just don't care about older media systems. Even the sub modules in car unless there is serious issue with it. Which is super stupid if you ask me. They defo find out various software issues through car's life time, but they just apply them to "facelifts"/new models.
  24. I am sorry but I'm not electrician or someone who builds amps. I am not sure what would happen. Canton AMP sends 100w per sub channel total of 200w. If resistances are off it could blow the amp from my basic sound system knowledge. I would not dare to try as amp costs 400€+.
  25. Did not test but my guess is that whole subwoofer channel set will turn off. I wouldn't change subwoofer like that to be honest. Only if you find exact drop-in replacement
