Update to Version 1969
My MY23 can use Laura to change the air con settings. Currently got 1969 software version. But it worked on previous versions 1936? (Might be wrong on version but it was orig from factory) and 1941. You can say things like "my feet are cold" or basic "set temperature to 20c" However Laura is putting it bluntly useless. It's quicker to press the button and screen than it is to get Laura to wake up, understand what your saying and then decide whether or not she can actually perform the task. He/she can be fickle and it's pot luck if it can be asked. Be interested to know if the chat GPT on the face lifts improves Laura's social skills? But I can't imagine it getting rolled out in software update for us older models (even if the system is the same)

Headlight warning
I've had the exact same issue last night. Warning message with nothing not working. Cleared on restart of car.

Estate boot dimensions ?
😅 mine is a company car. Took just over 2 years to come. At the time of ordering none of the dealerships anywhere I drove for work had even seen a MK4. Ordered based on the spec sheet as I was happy with my mk3 I was driving at the time. After a year I was told it was delayed due to COVID/war/parts. By then my company had said you can only order a full electric. Fingers crossed I stuck with the hybrid as I didn't feel confident on full electric due to charging on holiday and long journeys. Start of 2023 I almost got persuaded with a Volvo xc40 ultimate full electric. Boot looked a bit smaller than my mk3. But got build date at time saying I would have in a couple of months & the 250mile range was pushing it. 6 months later I eventually got the car. To find the boot for the dogs was not the best and they would of prob had more room with higher roof on the Volvo SUV. Plus all the electrical faults. From day one the info system crashed. Within the first month car had been back to dealer 3 times. It's all got a bit jaded. A new car should be a happy experience. Yes my BiK is great and the car saves me loads. 0to60 in under 7.5secs is nice and it's comfortable. But every time I get in it I expect some new fault. I'm just glad mine is a lease car and someone else pays for all the issues/ hire cars while mine is getting repaired. I'd probably stop grumbling as much if Skoda actually apologised 😅

Expired care connect deals
It's a bit of a joke compared to other manufacturers. Most of them provide the service for at least a few years before you have to pay. Can't believe it costs close to £100 a year for connect and the navigation stuff. My experience over the last year is pretty poor. Just does not justify the cost when Laura is either not working or struggles to understand basic English. Hand nearly 3 months where Laura and other things wouldn't work. I would prefer to pay something like £20 a year just for the very infrequent times I would use it

Octavia vs Karoq
Thought the latest Karoqs coming going to be pretty close to the Octavia on the interior
-
Octavia vs Karoq
Either choice you make I would try for having one with a towbar for bike carrying. I'm not impressed with the boot space on the MK4 and don't think it actually works out much bigger than a Karoq in real life usage

Smartlink unavailable & navigation not starting
Don't update the software yourself directly from that old version. It will probably brick it. You will likely need other updates to be done by Skoda for it to all work. You can't go from 1664 to 1941 directly

Expired care connect deals
Hi all, My care connect is expiring in a few days. Like having it to turn heating/cooling on before I go out to car. But don't really want to pay £40ish a year. Once it expires do Skoda offer deals to tempt you back in signing up again? Not going to bother with the infonet online one as that is just rubbish Thanks

Road Noise
They skimp on the soundproofing on the Octavia no matter the model. You need to go superb if you want quiet. If you follow guides above you will be surprised how little there is. Mine is a lease car so all I can do is turn the stereo up

Skoda Octavia IV torsion beam suspension?
I'm the other way. Couldnt stand the focus steering/suspension where it would react to every single bump and hole. I've got the IV version which has got IRS all round. It does bounce a bit but I put that down to the battery weight. Sticks to the road ok though. Just takes a bit of driving to get confident it will hold. But once you work it out it's happy to do a decent speed over 60 down country roads and soaks up the holes a bit

I’m guessing awful traction in ice?
Find my Octavia IV can be a bit problematic going up slopes from standing if I have any weight in the back. Just makes front too light and the ASP just stops turning the wheels. No idea if any of the MK4 models have the locking diff anymore? In teams of ice. My car came with Pirelli summer tyres on. It won't be good 😅 but in the little I've driven it's no worse than my prev MK3, BMW, Audi, golf.

Virtual cockpit
I get them in the middle on mine for android auto and mines a 2023 model. Not sure about built in nav as I hardly use it because Laura is terrible at understanding addresses. But for android auto map guidance the arrows pop up at same time you get voice guidance messages

Estate boot dimensions ?
Fixed on the IV due to battery location

Estate boot dimensions ?
As long as you don't have an IV model. The 640ltrs is based on the no raised floor option I believe. My issue is mainly the raised floor. You lose to much space which then makes the angle of back slope too sharp. I could fit a 190cm+ long wardrobe in my Mk3. Tried same in my mk4 and couldnt shut boot without shattering the back window all over my drive. Same with my mountain bike. Used to be able to fit whole in mk3. But no way I can in the MK4 as handlebars would go through back window too

Update to Version 1969
Yep did it 3 times. Prior to the third time my sound was even worse. After the last factory reset. It fixed the sound a lot but bass was still not greatly improved. On 1941 I had it at +3 now on +9 and still not as good. I've ended up only playing stuff via my phone using Poweramp and having to choose a very heavy bass equaliser setting. I don't want to have to buy a DSP just to make it sound normal. If it wasn't for all the gremlins I'd be happy with my Mk4 IV Just my advice 1969 does not offer any improvement to 1941 and if Skoda still haven't rolled it out over OTA they must not think it's perfect too

Virtual cockpit
Think it depends on age of car and software version. The later instances will display maps in centre of the dash. If that's what your asking

Update to Version 1969
My experience is that 1969 is worse than 1941. Stick to the older one if you don't have issues. Since upgrading I've had the below Bass is poor. Think they have updated codec but just left as standard config Often getting messages that air conditioning menu is unavailable on start for up to 20 seconds before it works. Which is annoying when system is remembering settings from a few weeks ago Driving mode button stopped working a couple of times And today's issue was with android auto. Said I needed to turn on WiFi for it to work. Only stopped the car to pop into shop None of the above occured on 1941. Wish I never upgraded

Estate boot dimensions ?
I regularly carry 2 lurchers in mine and a bit disappointed in the mk 4. Slope of the boot and the raised floor in the hybrid IV version make the boot a lot smaller than my MK3 did. Doesnt help that they need a comfortable bed to lie on too which eats up space MK3 used to be able to handle 3 lurchers and a Labrador. Can fit the 3 lurchers in my Mk 4 but they are not comfortable. Labrador has to go on back seat

Update to Version 1969
Based on what I've read on forum. Version 1803 will probably require other software updates that will need to be done by dealer before you can go to 1941.

Update to Version 1969
Did you upgrade to 1941 yourself? My experience on 1941 and 1969 with the problems I've had post install, is that I'm going to always do a full factory reset after upgrade. My car (on same hardware as yours) seems to play up until I did full reset both times. The things you mentioned are linked to Infosys and if that's playing up your likely to get the errors. Handbrake and dsg hopefully should never get affected by Infosys. Try a full reset of infosys and set up primary user etc again. If like me it hopefully will correct the issues. If not you need to go to skoda

Thule Wingbar Width
Think it just means a little more overhang on the cars. I had it on my old Skoda MK3. The Thule bars should have enough room in groove to handle the extra 5cm. However the MK3 was same length for front and rear bar. MK4 is shorter on back which might cause issues. I luckily picked up some official Skoda ones from eBay for my mk4. Ended up cheaper than the foot pack

Where's Laura 🤷♂️
I've had the issue. Complete reset to factory settings turns her/him on again

Reversing software updates?
Did a factory reset for second time today since upgrading to 1969 and this time it seems to of fixed it?? Sound is almost back to like it was on 1941 (just a little less bass). But no longer sounds completely flat. Not sure why I was surprised. Nothing related to software in this car works well 😆

Locking pin for EV cable will not engage followed by complete 12v battery failure.
Nice to know there's a way to reset it without having to wait for battery to go flat. I'll remember the fuse 3 next time it happens....there will be a next time 😅

Reversing software updates?
Hi all, Anyone know if you can install an older software version over the top of newer one? Very unhappy with sound on 1969 and would like to go back to 1941
