Octavia 245 vs Superb 280 Engine Comparison
The 245 has a smaller IS20 turbo which spools up faster and earlier than the bigger IS38 9shared with the Golf R) of the 272/280. My standard 245 had 400nm at 2,600rpm whereas my standard 272 had 269nm at 4,500rpm and the 272 needed revving to almost 6,000rpm to get the best from it whereas the 245 gave its best performance upto 5,000rpm. The stage 1 245 gave 302bhp and 467nm and my stage 1 272 gave 360bhp and 514nm. When I took the 245 to stage 2 it produced 336bhp and 517nm but was a handful particularly on a wet road. I remember it spinning the front tyres at a barely believeable 77mpg in 3rd gear which is dangerous. The safer, better car is the 272/280 which is a more practical Golf R and a Golf R is better than a Golf GTi. They share the same brakes 340mm vented front discs and 310mm vented rear discs but the 245 was almost 300kg lighter so stopped better (1370kg versus 1,660kg). 4WD traction was very impressive on the 272 whereas the FWD 245 struggled to put its power down. Steering probably nicer and more direct on the 245 and both cornered well with the edge going to the lighter 245. Did 29,000 miles with a manual clutch on the 245 and just over 9,000 miles in the 7 speed DSG 272. Both averaged 40mpg which was impressive the 245 had a maximum range of 530 miles from the 50 litre tank and the 272 a maximum range of 720 miles from the 66 litre tank.

Front Passenger Door won't open. Skoda Octavia Mk II
Seems common with older Skoda's that the wires become brittle in the rubber gaiter when it leaves the bodywork and enters the door to control power to the electric windows and central locking. Might be worth getting an auto electrician to test those wires.

York Fitness Bike Plan
After washing my car and drilling extra holes in some of the wife's favourite belts (she has lost nearly 2 stone this year) completely forgot to post my 4 sessions of 15 minutes on the bike taking the totals on Day 23 to 660km and 28 hours. Resting now until Saturday.

WARNING TO ALL
Aston Villa and England Footballer who has a problem remembering not to visit his mates during lockdown. Also can't seem to exit a car park without hitting stationary vehicles and Police followed him at 98mph on the Motorway bullying other motorists in a Range Rover. Got a driving ban and £80,000 fine.

WARNING TO ALL
Don't park near Jack Grealish when he gets his licence back because judging by his careless driving in a car park at 98mph on his way to training your pride and joy will suffer from it's close encounter with his Range Rovers.

Logged boost pressure via ODB Eleven, is this overboosting?
The ECU is smart enough to know whether you fill with 95,97,98,99 or 102 octane if in Europe and adjusts the fuel/air mixture to prevent knocking. This is regardless of whether you have a stage 1,2 or 3 map on it.

Oil change after only 450 miles
Sorry but that is still rubbish as the car left the factory with Long Life oil in late 2019 and it does not need an oil change until 18,500 miles (30,000km) or 2 years whichever arrives first. So it shouldn't need a service for another 12 months but the dealer has set the first service at 12 months from first registration to make you pay sooner unless they gave you 2 services for £79 like my dealer did on my Feb 2020 used Superb or maybe they gave you 2 free services.

My Third MK3 Superb But The First Diesel
Had no need to use the SAT NAV during the first 2 months of ownership but my brother moved recently and needed to use it to drop off Xmas presents so wife was put in charge of entering the post code and I must say I really liked the map in the centre of the virtual dash and have decided to leave it there for the time being as everything else that I like can be seen on either side of the sat nav display. Sometimes wives can be useful especially in the passenger seat.

NEW SKODA KODIAQ 2021
George if you haven't noticed diesel sales across Europe in the last decade have been falling for every maker from Volvo to Skoda. Volvo diesel sales 90% of total European sales in 2014 then 64% in 2018. BMW diesel sales 81% of total European sales in 2014 then 57% in 2018. Skoda diesel sales 48% of total European sales in 2014 then 36% in 2018. Volkswagen diesel sales 56% of total European sales in 2014 then 39% in 2018. Audi diesel sales 72% of total European sales in 2014 then 48% in 2018. All manufacturers are offering vehicles with EV power, petrol or petrol/hybrid rather than diesel because that is what people are demanding and purchasing.

heat from passenger vents only
On the failing water pump thread someone just made a very good point that some diesel engines were assembled with some casting sand still in the block and over time this causes a sludge to build up and forces the water pump to fail as it gets clogged up.

Octavia 245 vs Golf 245 vs Focus ST
On average 2020 Superb's are 75kg lighter than 2015 to 2019 models thanks to a lighter but stronger MQB chassis.

NEW SKODA KODIAQ 2021
Thanks looks like the Kodiaq RS will ditch the dirty 240PS diesel engine in favour of the 1.4TSi petrol hybrid with 116PS electric motor to match the 245PS engine in the Octavia Vrs iV.

Octavia 245 vs Golf 245 vs Focus ST
Perhaps all the cars in the video were weighed with a full tank of fuel and a driver as they wouldn't be any good in the real world without both.
