best place to buy Thule roof bars & fitting kit
wilsonian replied to Kevin_Mc's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I cobbled a set together for my missus mk2 off eBay. Word of warning. Mk1 bars and MK2 bars are NOT the same length. My MK1 bars are 108cm while the MK2 requires 127cm. -
Mk1 Fabia VRS for a comfy long distance commuter?
wilsonian replied to Phil2013's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I do around 50-60 miles a day and find the SE's leather seats comfy. Although it takes a few minutes extra to warm up on a winters morning -
Ibiza bushes or polys off ebay?
wilsonian replied to Curlyvrs's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
if it's a squeak it's more than likely the console bushes, if it's a clunk its more likely to be the anti roll bar bushes. I have Powerflex 2 part bushes and TBH I don't like them. Every winter they start creaking and I have to re-lube them. Pain in the bottom... -

I use to love my ripspeed phone holder. It was the only thing I could find to take the weight of my old Nokia -
Ok own up, who got carried away in the Fabia?
wilsonian replied to Sam84's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
It was confirmed that the police spotted the stolen car in clayton (which is close to this tram stop) and gave chase. Shame to see it like this but at least I now know I can't do a "dukes of hazzard" jump off the tram stops -
The graphs aren't working unfortunately as they are pointing to ur own private IP (192.168.x.x). :(

Do new shocks come with bump stops as standard?
-
Only for the dirty minded LOL
-
Hello, so both sides on my rear shocks look like this. I'm guess I need new bump stops but how many miles can you get out of the rear dampers - the car is currently on 98k and I'm wondering about just swapping them out while I'm doing the work.

Am I right in thinking the Ibiza one doesn't have the whole at the bottom to show off the messy boost pipe?

Fabia vrs engine upgrade to 150 spec
wilsonian replied to Graffiti's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Don't forget about the clutch. Standard clutches tend to start slippingover 300lb of torque. I know some companies do clutch friendly re-maps. Something to keep in mind. Also save some cash for stopping power. -
Make sure you replace it for the exact same model code and try to avoid the cheap eBay units. You may have to take it off just to find out the code before doing the work fully. How come you're looking at replacing it?

It's the black part at the bottom of the bumper - http://www.maxtondesign.co.uk/upload/sklep_galeria/1969/851-skoda-rapid-dyfuzor-wizualizacja-003_l.jpg

Front and Rear Skoda badges
wilsonian replied to dannycook96's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Well I can't speak for all the locations but the skins I have on my wheel caps have stayed on well for over 5 years. Just note that the people who have placed them on the front and rear have removed the original badge completely to fit them. -
A link or a write would be handy. My box went so I had to get another one but I don't fancy it's chances in the long run. Any help would be great

Front and Rear Skoda badges

The custom ones are nice but they are more like stickers than proper badges. I have some on my centre caps and they are good quality -
Creaking noise when turning wheel
wilsonian replied to andrewthomas4's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
while parked up bounce one side of the car - make sure you get a good hard bounce on it. If you hear the noise then chances are it's the drop links. fairly easy to replace and cheap enough too. -
I purchased the below setup. Sure you can find them cheaper second hand but these came very nicely painted and with a warranty. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-AUDI-312mm-calipers-discs-and-pads-MK4-GOLF-TT-S3-/281885855038?hash=item41a1b4cd3e:m:mfkvQFow5yppTj6ZZu1V2Kg Only other item you would need is brake fluid to top up the system HTH.

If the door won't open at all then you may have to cut apart the door card to get at the system - this is not an easy job :(

I was told you had to use the metal round clip to hook the caps...
-
OK I've had my SE from new and know what it came with. The plastic cap removal tool that you have on the brace isn't standard. Mine never came with one. Instead a kind Audi driver (yes you read that right) gave me his when he traded it in. The only other thing you are missing is the jack. Mine didn't come with a screwdriver or what ever else fits in there.

Sounds like the gully is blocked and the entire door is filling up with water. This happened on my mother 6 month old Rapid!

I find an allen key socket head is good for breaking the jont as sometimes they tend to seize and a small allen key just doesn't cut it

What ever you do, avoid the cheap £30 units off eBay. I recently had to replace my passenger side and fitted one of these units. Unfortunately the anti-hijack system doesn't work so when I do a single click on my fob, the passenger unlocks as well. We spent ages looking through VACOM and couldn't figure it out. After a bit of searching it seems these cheap units are "dumb" units which can't be programmed, they just copy what ever the drivers side is doing. After looking on the sellers page the listed OEM number was different as well. HTH so you don't buy the wrong unit. That being said I've yet to find a new unit under £100 that will replace the current model :(
