Whats the issue with retro fitting hid kit
A HID kit like that transformed the halogen projector lamps on my MK2 Octavia but they were crap to start with even when I had replaced them with brand new Hella OE lhd units. I did have to lower the beam adjustment twice after setting it in my usual manner as I was getting flashes from oncoming motorists, not surprising because I could see a couple of kms!!! When I found the happy medium the lights were still several magnitudes better than with the halogen bulbs. Even though the beam showed a sharp cut off on my garage door I think there must have been enough diffusion or scatter to make me have to lower them, they did go through a CT test without any comments later on so the beam was neither high nor low and the tester does not care about whether its halogen or HID. I fully expected to have to do the same thing on this Yeti but the standard non projector halogen lamps are 10 x better than the Octavia projector candles.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Old laptop, 2010ish Compaq. No HDMI. The "sources" list on the TV shows a VGA/PC one enabled, on the side I can see something that looks like an USB but it isn't, similar size but two of the corners are chamfered.

Best pressure for large spare tyre
It wont do it any harm at all, the tyre is rated to be safe at 3.5 bar driven at 130mph supporting a 650kg load, which if you were able to do would soon raise the pressure beyond 4.2 bar, it will be fine sat in the boot at 4.2 bar. Consider the pressure that is used by the tyre fitters to mount the tyre on the rim and to seal the bead before letting it down to the supposed required pressure whch will be 30psi that they send every car out with When fitted to the vehicle the pressure should be reduced to the correct one not for fear of the tyre bursting but for the maximum grip and to avoid uneven tyre wear.

Moll car battery at 11.79V - normal?
If the Skoda dealers lips were moving then it was BS, if not then you imagined it. Either way the statement simply isn't true and does not even make any sense not that they would know that.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Plenty to digest and reflect on, it will take me a while. I started looking into this some while back, I wanted to search on the computer & when I found an interesting program or video on Youtube I wanted to then send that to my TV but neither the computer can send nor the TV recieve without bits of kit, maybe a simple cable would do what I want? Serching the net using up & down buttons to type words on an on screen keyboard does not appeal to me and with my vision problems probably a no no.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Thanks for your patience and understanding of my ignorance. I dont have a Sky subscription, just a Skybox which recieves some but not all free to air channels, I could equally have had another type of satellite reciever but I have found the Sky program listings quite easy, I dont record etc so have no need of anything complicated like a Humax, I use it to watch UK TV channels as they are broadcast as I would if I were in the UK, and I watch French programs as they are broadcast, no recording, no catch up TV. I realise I am probably the last person on the planet to do this but its simple, uncomplicated and does what is written on the box, just as my 2004 Nokia non smartphone is a phone that makes & recieves calls & doesn't need an app to do so. I dont have Amazon prime, I am against having any monthly payments except for utility bills. I really cant see that a VPN would be of any benefit to me and I try to avoid any IT complications. I'm not sure when it comes down to it that without paying for content there are many programs that the streaming services would have for me that I cant already recieve, youtube on the TV I understand but can you actually navigate and find content with a tiny remote control? Surely you need a keyboard for searching and scrolling? The combined sound bar and device is an attractive proposition though that I will take seriously, if I understand it correctly if I wanted to use it for UK content I would need to buy it there but could not use it here in France without a VPN?

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
I dont understand how you install an app to a box or stick or even a computer come to that, to me apps are something on a mobile phone from Google play store. I am even more confused now, I still dont know what "them" are Again, I have no perception of what these services are, you say that i wont be able to use UK catch up TV but all this started because I was told that I could do so on my TV if I understood what a VPN does I have no problem watching French TV, its what the TV was made for and I dont need to complicate that. I still cant understand how you can use any of these websites on the TV with a tiny remote control, why pay a subscription to use Youtube or Amazon from the TV (and how?) when its free on the computer? Thanks, I will check through them

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
No HDMI on the laptop & the spare one on the TV is tucked up against the wall and needs the TV removing from the bracket to plug anything in, there is not the depth for the stick.

Superb Twindoor wiring fix
My curiosity having got the better of me after 59 postings I have to ask what is a "twin door"? Is it a hatchback where you can open the bottom section seperately like a bootlid or a bootlid and opening rear screen like on a Hillman Pimp? Or something else?

Yeti got stuck in first gear.
Were there any clutch noises or vibration before? It could be a Sachs pressure plate breaking up & chewing up the gearbox casing but any damage would be well away from the selector rails.

Yeti got stuck in first gear.
It sounds a very implausible diagnosis for the vehicle being stuck in first gear.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
The soundbar might be an option, I had to buy one for this TV but it was cheap and once again I am having difficulty with mumbling actors and the background music swamping the speech. What do they mean by a voice remote? Will I need to use 2 or 3 remotes at once or will that one control the volume, switch the TV on and off and allow me to watch the normal terrestrial TV channels (not that the sky remote does the latter). Most of those streaming services look like you have to pay for them, I have been without income for a year now and it looks like being another year, what would be left for me and can they even be accessed outside of the UK?

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Thanks for your efforts Cheezemonkhai, I will have to read them carefully to try and understand whats what as I cant see how you can select stuff from the internet like Youtube without a computer. Thanks also for bringing up the spec as it made me look for the missing HDMI input, except I cant physically look, under the setup menu I can see that I have disabled the inputs that are unused, à priori there are 2 HDMI's, 2 scarts, a side AV and a VGA. How far do these "sticks" stick out, the wall mount is very close to the wall and with it angled downwards there is even less space. Can you translate this part into idiot terms for me please as I dont understand what it means: You can move them and not use them, but they can't be added to non-UK models.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
I dont have a smart TV!!!!!!! I dont want a Firestick or anything plugged in!!!!!!!!!!! I cant see behind it and can only feel, the Skybox feels to be plugged into the only HDMI socket and the source button on the remote only has one, there does not look to be enough room behind it anyway, there is also a VGA socket free at the side. I dont want to pay for TV and I have heard that the Amazon stick things have geographical restrictions anyway, I dont understand why I would need a TV box when I get French channels via the aeriel and UK ones via the skybox. Its my fault for not realising that ITV would pay millions to America for the rights to broadcast the interview live, I probably wouldn't have watched it anyway but might do if it is ever repeated. but of course it wont be, only programs and series that are actually worth buying get repeated, its yesterdays news now. Brand is Tucson, a made up name for the supermarket chain, model TL32LED, no jokes please about how little you think it is, its by far the largest TV that I have ever owned and I would not want anything bigger.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Not with my television and its not particularly old, its the third one that I have had to buy in France since they moved to TNT & then all HD transmissions, despite the second one saying HD it was some rubbish about HD ready and not HD compatible, in any case I had to change it again, I doubt if this one is 4 years old but to my knowledge it has to be fed either from an aeriel or a satellite reciever. Happy to learn how it could be connected to the computer as there are some interesting programmes on Youtube etc.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
Not on my TV it wouldn't, it connects to an aeriel and a satellite reciever. Not everyone throws away equipment that functions perfectly to have the latest must have bells & whistles. I dont want to watch catch up TV and I dont want to watch TV on the internet, I certainly dont want to install something to hide my IP address and make out I live somewhere else.

Climatronic odd behaviour on heating - inner centre vents don't blow hot air on Auto
Its a feature that Iliked and missed now that I no longer have Climatronic, the ability to keep the car warm during cold weather but have cool air to the face if needed on a long drive where tiredness could be an issue, I only ever opened those vents when I wanted to breathe cool air. During the warm up period limiting the flow of warm air helps demist the windscreen and side windows quicker, the side vents are really for the side windows.

Refurbished Rear Differential for 2014 Octavia 4x4 estate
You can get a good used unit complete with haldex coupling & pump for less than £400 delivered from E-bay sellers or breakers on a site I recently used called Quinetic or something. Have you by any chance done or had done a Haldex oil change recently? If so my money is on your diff being dry and if the noise is audible and rapidly getting worse then it will self destruct very soon. The diff units are bulletproof unless an idiot like me or many garages & main dealers uses the wrong drain plug, I was very very lucky a year ago having driven 400+ miles including 200 miles heavily laden on UK motorways & French Autoroutes before realising and correcting my mistake. I have slight transmission noise but in 10K miles it has not got worse.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
For the third time, it is physically impossible for me to watch a TV programme especially one 2 hours long on a laptop computer, I would not even be able to hear the sound properly. I have a television for watching television, I can access UK channels via a Sky satellite reciever, I have no need or interest in having a VPN.
-
Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
I am fairly certain that access to UK catch up TV via the internet is denied to me in France, also as I have explained I could not watch anything other than a short Youtube clip on the laptop computer.

Adjust speedo accuracy using OBDeleven?
I am sure that I have seen speedometer/odometer correction under adaptation in VCDS on my CR engined car, perhaps if I clicked on it it may come up as function unavailable.

Horn replacement
The OEM twin tone is twin horns that will require additional wiring if the vehicle does not have it like mine. Unless you know different and I really hope that you do as my horn tone is a total embarrassment.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
I can watch ITV on Sky if you tell me when it will be screened, as for a VPN I have no intention of getting into that nonsense. It sounds like you are suggesting that I watch a 2 hour program on my computer, I watch television on a television, to use the laptop computer means sitting on a hard chair at the kitchen table hunched forwards to be at exactly 30cm from the screen with my reading glasses and I mean exactly, I only have one eye, that close I cannot see the whole screen in the macular vision and would have to constantly swivel my eye or move my head. A television at any distance from 1.2m is clear with distance glasses and thats where the comfortable seats are.

Watching SmartTV on non-smart/old TVs
<Introduction> This thread contains posts around how to view "that interview" on JR's TV..... The original thread can be found here: Back to the original poster </introduction> Is there any way to watch it without susbcribing to a premium channel or something like Netflix? 2 hours , thats a big ask!

Skoda Yeti 2010 A/C compressor pulley
If you have VCDS then look at the A/C system pressure from within measuring blocks, run the engine with the A/C switched on and it should rise, switch off A/C and it should fall, if that is OK then I doubt that its at fault. Secondly remove the auxiliary drive belt, run the engine & see if the noise has gone, if it has then turn all the pulleys & tensioner pulley, the A/C one should turn smoothly in either direction without any catching, the alternator should have a one way clutch which turns the shaft in one direction but not the other, tensioner pulley should turn smoothly.
