  1. If the colour coding on that rear spring is 1 white dot and 2 yellow dots, then that's a 1K0511115BE rear spring which does seem on the soft side for an Octavia MK2 2.0TDI estate FWD with standard ride height. A change to 1K0511115BG would have increased the weight range by two, The soft rear springs problem was caused in 2006 when Skoda in their wisdom dropped the spring rates on the Octavia MK2 by two weight ranges. Hence by increasing the weight range of the rear springs by two, you would be going back to what Skoda had originally planned. You can see the reduction in the weight range of the rear springs in the below chart, that is shown on Skoda 7zap until the 2008 model year. Octavia MK2 FWD standard ride height rear springs 1JA (1) 1K0 511 115 BD coil spring 1 paint mark 1 paint mark D >> - 05.03.2006 white yellow 2 PR-1JA+0YB (1) 1K0 511 115 BD coil spring 1 paint mark 1 paint mark D - 06.03.2006>> white yellow 2 PR-1JA+0YD (1) 1K0 511 115 BE coil spring 1 paint mark 2 paint marks D >> - 05.03.2006 white yellow 2 PR-1JA+0YC (1) 1K0 511 115 BE coil spring 1 paint mark 2 paint marks D - 06.03.2006>> white yellow 2 PR-1JA+0YE (1) 1K0 511 115 BF coil spring 1 paint mark 3 paint marks D >> - 05.03.2006 white yellow 2 PR-1JA+0YD (1) 1K0 511 115 BF coil spring 1 paint mark 3 paint marks D - 06.03.2006>> white yellow 2 PR-1JA+0YF (1) 1K0 511 115 BG coil spring 1 paint mark 1 paint mark D >> - 05.03.2006 white orange 2 PR-1JA+0YE (1) 1K0 511 115 BG coil spring 1 paint mark 1 paint mark D - 06.03.2006>> white orange 2 PR-1JA+0YG https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2008-419/5/511-511001/ Notice that up until 5/3/2006 weight range 5 rear springs (build code 0YE) were 1K0511115BG, but from 6/3/2006 weight range 5 rear springs changed to 1K0511115BE. Hence the soft rear spring problem on Octavia MK2 cars that were manufactured on or after 6/3/2006.
  2. If you want a softer ride, maybe try 235/50R18 on 7.5Jx18 ET50 rims from the VW iD.3 or 245/45R18 on 8Jx18 ET45 rims from the VW iD.4 19" Karoq rims are usually 8J wide, which will make the ride of 225/45R19 tyres harder compared to fitting the same size tyres to narrower 7J or 7.5J rims. 7.5Jx18 ET50 5/112 57.1 steel rims from the VW iD.3 (alloy rims might also be available in this size) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=1258516952071017584&rimCode=ALCAR9373 https://www.oponeo.pl/wybierz-felgi-stalowe#&&/wEXCwUKcGNrX1RyTFNFdAUFNTAsMDAFE3Bja19UckxTQm9sdFBhdHRlcm4FBTV4MTEyBQtwY2tfVHJMU0NhcgUBMAUMcGNrX1RyTFNEaWFtBQIxOAUHcGNrX0NQZwUBMQUHcGNrX0lQUAUCMTIFE3Bja19UckxTQ2VudHJhbEJvcmUFBTU3LDEwBRVwY2tfTHN0U1NvcnRQYXJhbWV0ZXIFBTY1NTM2BRVwY2tfVHJMU1NvcnREaXJlY3Rpb24FATIFCHBja19JT0ZQBQIzMAUNcGNrX1RyTFNXaWR0aAUFNyw1MErjKHnaaW158YcDKVQmDZgai9CGHg== 8Jx18 ET45 5/112 57.1 steel rims from the VW iD.4 (alloy rims might also be available in this size) https://www.oponeo.pl/wybierz-felgi-stalowe#&&/wEXCwUKcGNrX1RyTFNFdAUFNDUsMDAFE3Bja19UckxTQm9sdFBhdHRlcm4FBTV4MTEyBQtwY2tfVHJMU0NhcgUBMAUMcGNrX1RyTFNEaWFtBQIxOAUHcGNrX0NQZwUBMQUHcGNrX0lQUAUCMTIFE3Bja19UckxTQ2VudHJhbEJvcmUFBTU3LDEwBRVwY2tfTHN0U1NvcnRQYXJhbWV0ZXIFBTY1NTM2BRVwY2tfVHJMU1NvcnREaXJlY3Rpb24FATIFCHBja19JT0ZQBQIzMAUNcGNrX1RyTFNXaWR0aAUFOCwwMEpyAlnsl2gddbJHxYhr9PZhaY2RfA== ETRTO approved rim sizes 225/45 7.0-7.5-8.5 225/40 7.5-8.0-9.0 235/50 6.5-7.5-8.5 245/45 7.5-8.0-9.0 As you can see from the chart, a 7.5J rim is ideal for a 235/50R18 tyre size and an 8J rim is ideal for a 245/45R18 tyre size. The chart also shows that a 225/40R19 is ideal for an 8J rim, but that a 225/45R19 tyre would be better off being fitted to a narrower 7.5J rim. Fitting a 225/45R19 tyre to a wider 8J rim causes the sidewalls to flex less easily which makes the ride harder.
  3. A 245HP FWD car is not ideal for UK winters. Try a 4x4 next time, as they will put the power down through all four wheels inside of just two.
  4. Most coil springs break at the ends, often the last half a coil turn...hence why you didn't notice. The main difference would have been a small reduction in ride height but not much.
  5. You do have to be careful with aftermarket springs if you want to match a particular OEM part number, which is why I check the listings on autodoc even if I then purchase elsewhere. The aftermarket spring market is filled with springs that are sold to replace more than one OEM part number, ie. a one size fits all approach. If a seller is listing other OEM part numbers then it's unlikely that the spring will match your OEM part number. On autodoc you have to click on the spring's listing to see all the OEM part numbers that the spring is sold to replace. The concept of "this spring will fit your car" is very different from "this spring will match the OEM part number that you want". I'm not a fan of using spring helpers, ie. an additional spring fitted inside the main spring. This is a bodge, and an imprecise way of going about things. As someone has already noted, it increases the ride height. It also doesn't give you a variable rate spring as both the main spring and the helper spring are linear. I would only consider a helper spring if a suitable replacement main spring wasn't available. However, this isn't the case with most Skoda cars. If you want a firmer spring, just go up one or two weight ranges. 1K0511115BF and 1K0511115BG have a very similar specification including 11.75mm wire diameter. The main difference is in the number of coil turns. 1K0511115BG gets its increased stiffness by reducing its number of coil turns, ie. 7.75 coil turns instead of 8 coil turns. You can just about make this out in the two photos below. 1K0511115BF (8 coil turns) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/spidan/7445405 1K0511115BG (7.75 coil turns) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/spidan/7445756

  7. 1K0511115BF is recommended in the optimal-germany.com online coil spring catalogue for the Octavia MK2 Estate 2.0TDI Front-Wheel-Drive without towbar. It's 1K051115BG if the estate has a towbar, which is about 5% stiffer than 1K0511115BF. https://www.optimal-germany.com/media-center/downloads/kataloge https://www.optimal-germany.com/docs/default-source/catalogues-documents/wbm-3011.pdf?sfvrsn=ac821103_10 Sachs 996653 is one brand that matches 1K0511115BF
  8. The 340mm front brake discs are a TRW brake system. Original TRW GDB2114 front brake pads are £45.14 on amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/TRW-GDB2114Â-Brake-Pad-disc-brake/dp/B06XYN4994/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2MBFU1750T57M&keywords=trw+gdb2114&qid=1650993835&sprefix=trw+gdb2114%2Caps%2C289&sr=8-1 The front brake pads are also listed on autodoc https://www.autodoc.co.uk/trw/11288579 For comparison, Pagid front brake pads are £92.18 at Halfords and aren't as good as the OEM TRW brake pads. https://www.halfords.com/car-parts?cgid=297008&pid=101444228 For front brake discs, ATE are one of the best. When Skoda don't specify TRW brakes they usually specify ATE brakes. The benefit of ATE over TRW brakes discs is that ATE have a coated finish so are less prone to rusting than the cheaper painted TRW finish. ATE front brake discs 24.0130-0225.1 (£146.69 for two) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384790724108?hash=item5997507e0c:g:FG4AAOSwXZ9ht-D6 Like the front brake pads, the front brake discs are also listed on autodoc https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ate/7013633 So that's a grand total of £191.83 for parts, and labour shouldn't be more than 1 hour at perhaps £72/hour including VAT...making a grand total of £263.83.
  9. KYB RA3364 should match 1K0411105DM as that is the only OEM part number shown against that spring. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/kyb/7909084 https://www.amazon.de/Frankberg-Fahrwerksfeder-Vorderachse-2009-2017-1K0411105DM/dp/B09KR5YPYX/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&crid=VHE2Q2YNA1C4&keywords=1K0411105DM&qid=1650667288&sprefix=1k0411105dm%2Caps%2C57&sr=8-1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Suspension-Springs-Front-2009-2017-1K0411105DM/dp/B09KR5YPYX/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2SGCX5GWZBJ1K&keywords=1K0411105DM&qid=1650667397&sprefix=1k0411105dm%2Caps%2C52&sr=8-1 You could also consider Kilen 23123 and Lesjofors 4085724 which should also be matched to 1K0411105DM. These two springs are the same, just sold under different brand names. Kilen and Lesjofors are made in the same factory in Sweden. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/1k0411105dm?search=OEN+1K0411105DM&supplier[0]=246&supplier[1]=85&supplier[2]=253
  10. A 17" space saver tyre would need to have higher sidewalls than an 18" space saver tyre to maintain a similar outside diameter, eg. 125/80R17 instead of 125/70R18. A 125/80R17 would have even less performance than a 125/70R18. Similar outside diameters 125/80R17 631.8mm 125/70R18 632.2mm

  14. You should be able to order the below spare wheel kit which includes the foam, jack, and tools from a local Skoda dealer using OEM part number 3V0093860B. Only the spare wheel is then needed. 215/60R16 fitted to a 6J rim such as 6Jx16 ET40 (from a Superb MK1) or 6Jx16 ET43 (from a Karoq) should fit flush. 215/60R16 fitted to the standard 6.5J rim apparently sits a few millimetre too high. It sounds like Skoda made the wheel well to fit something like a 205/55R16 fitted to a 6.5Jx16 ET46 rim from an Octavia MK3 (which they sometimes sell as a spare wheel for the Superb MK3), although the outside diameter of a 205/55R16 tyre is about 5% smaller than Superb MK3 tyre sizes. You can check with the Skoda dealer using your car's VIN that this will fit your car. 1,359.00CZK is about £46.16. 15. Most of the Audi A3 cars that were based on the VW Golf MK5/6 platform had 7.5Jx18 ET54 rims, not 7.5Jx18 ET56. There was a 7.5Jx18 ET56 rim, but not the most attractive rim. 5 8P0 601 025 AJ aluminium rim colour code: 7,5JX18H2 ET56 5/112 8Z8 4 PR-CC1 https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a3+s3+sportb+lim+qu/a3/2005-412/6/601-601080/#5 As you have an Octavia MK3 that is based on the VW Golf MK7 platform, I suggest you look at Audi A3 rims that were also based on the VW Golf MK7 platform. There's plenty of 7.5Jx18 ET51 rims on that Audi. https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a3+s3+sportb+lim+qu/a3/2016-745/6/601-601080/
  16. Have a look at the tyre sizes inside the fuel filler flap. If you have the option of 16" tyres, you won't have the bigger 340mm front brake discs as 16" rims won't clear the brake calipers on 340mm front brake discs. However, like others have said, the Octavia MK3 diesel RS facelift model uses the smaller 312mm front discs. The 312mm front discs are a TRW brake system. The 272mm rear discs are also a TRW brake system. https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2016-753/6/615-615030/#10
  17. I wouldn't use dtintecno as they are based in Germany and are expensive. However, their website does give you an idea of what various engines can be remapped to. Unlike some remappers, their claims do seem realistic, eg. the 1.2 4 cylinder petrol turbo engine being remapped from 90PS/160Nm to 130PS/215Nm. The 1.2 has a small turbo which should help with excellent low down torque and therefore make it pleasant to drive around town and at economical cruising speeds yet with 130PS still have a decent amount of top end power. Skoda Fabia 1.2TSI 90PS, 160Nm remaps to 130PS, 215Nm Skoda Fabia 1.2TSI 110PS, 175Nm remaps to 130PS, 215Nm As you can see above, the 90PS engine remaps to the same power and torque as the 110PS engine. https://www.dtintecno.de/chiptuning/fahrzeug/skoda:3605/fabia-2014-2021/1-2-tsi-90-ps:27044
  18. 6.5J is ideal for 195/55R15, 205/50R15, 205/55R15. 195/55R15 would be the most sensible size for the Fabia MK2. 205/50R15 and 205/55R15 are rare tyre sizes. However, Uniroyal Rainsport 5 tyres are available in both these sizes. 195/55R15 gives a much better choice of tyres, especially all-season tyres such as the Michelin CrossClimate 2. 6.5Jx15 ET34 5/100 57.1 steel and alloy rims from the early Audi A1 6.5Jx15 ET34 5/100 57.1 steel rims 8X0601027A 8X0601027E 6.5Jx15 ET34 5/100 57.1 alloy rims 8X0601025 8X0601025AO 8X0601025H 8X0601025AN (1) 8X0 601 027 A steel rim D >> - 10.12.2012 6,5JX15H2 ET34 5/100 black 4 PR-CR7 (1) 8X0 601 027 E steel rim D - 10.12.2012>> 6,5JX15H2 ET34 5/100 black 4 PR-CR7 2 8X0 601 025 aluminium rim D >> - 10.12.2012 colour code: 6,5JX15H2 ET34 5/100 8Z8 4 PR-C2V (2) 8X0 601 025 AQ aluminium rim D - 10.12.2012>> colour code: 6,5JX15H2 ET34 5/100 8Z8 4 PR-C2V 3 8X0 601 025 H aluminium rim D >> - 10.12.2012 colour code: 6,5JX15H2 ET34 5/100 8Z8/K80 4 PR-C5L (3) 8X0 601 025 AN aluminium rim D - 10.12.2012>> colour code: 6,5JX15H2 ET34 5/100 8Z8/K80 4 PR-C5L https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a1/a1/2011-708/6/601-601050/ Oversize 205/45R17 tyres will fit the below rims, but check that it won't rub. However, 17" rims will make the 288mm front brake discs on the RS look rather small. Compared to 205/40R17, 205/45R17 has a higher load index so you could reduce the tyre pressures by 3 psi to 4 psi. This will help improve the ride comfort. Narrower 6.5J rims compared to 7J rims will also help the ride comfort, as the narrower rims will help the sidewalls flex more easily when going over bumps. Choosing all-season tyres compared to UHP summer tyres will again help the ride comfort, as UHP summer tyres have stiff sidewalls to help increase lateral grip so don't flex as easily. 21. The correct genuine Skoda spare wheel kit (foam, jack, and tools) costs about £35 from a Skoda dealer. There are three different spare wheel kits available. Standard, RS, and Scout models. 22. Check the dimensions (length, width, and height) of your current battery. The width is usually 175mm, and the height is usually 190mm. However, the length varies depending on what size is fitted. Different Sizes The 242mm length is a size 2 battery. The 278mm length is a size 3 battery. The 315mm length is a size 4 battery. As you can see from the above, as you go up each size the length goes up by about 1.5" (38mm). This makes it easy to determine what size you have got.
  23. Those are the correct TRW front and rear brake pads. The front 312mm brakes are a TRW system, whereas the rear 300mm brakes are an ATE system. You might find that the original rear pads are branded ATE. The rear brake pads don't have a wear sensor.
