  1. Round about Christmas time I was a little tardy in checking my tyre pressures and left it for about 2 months before doing so. When I did get round to taking a look I noticed that all four tyres were running about 10psi below the usual 32psi which is where I set them. At no point did the TPMS warn of the low pressures presumably because the difference between each individual tyre at any one time was never more than the allowable tolerance. So a puncture detector rather than a pressure gauge.
  2. Maybe the bulb had just had enough.😄
  3. Could you elaborate on this statement, symptoms etc?
  4. +1. Just gone out to look and to see if mine are the same - they are. Can't figure out how to do it either.
  5. DRT Autos in Ashford is who I use. He did mine last December. Picks up from my house & drops back off in the evening, very useful as I've only got one car. If you're interested Tel. Darren - 07875 371037. Tell him Pat recommended him, I might get some discount on my next service 😄
  6. I would suspect it's a DQ200. AFAIK it's the only one that doesn't have a defined service schedule and is listed as not required. I also have a DQ200 and can confirm that the oil changes of both the transmission and the Mechatronic are easily done and judging by the colour and condition of the fluids that came out should DEFINITELY be done at intervals similar to those specified for other transmissions. I would recommend a drain & refill @ 50 - 60k miles, if not more often. No filters involved with either Trans or Mech as, if present, they are internal. A half decent mechanic should be able to carry out the service with no problem. There are a good few Youtube videos showing how it can be done, but remember to include "DQ200" in the search text.
  7. Having watched a video of the repair process it looks like you'd need to be an extremely good solderer to remove & refit the sensors yourself. I think you've chosen the better option particularly with a 2 year warranty.
  8. You found me out Graham. Last year I paid £385.33 whereas my renewal quote for this year was £384.71, so a saving of 62p rather than 63p. My bad. When I informed them of the reduced mileage they then re-quoted a figure £434. I obviously renewed for the original higher mileage quote but don't understand how they come up with the prices, as you stated surely my risk reduces with fewer miles.
  9. I renewed mine this morning also. My quote for this year was a massive £0.63 cheaper than last year however I was confident that a reduction in my declared mileage from 25k down to 20k would shave a few more quid off the bill. How wrong I was, it increased the quote from £384 to £434! How does that even work????
  10. £160 sounds well worth the money.
  11. If you have stop/start feature and it no longer works, that is usually one of the first signs of a duff battery.
  12. I have been keeping track of my MPG since I got the car in July 2020. I've only had the use of ECO option since Dec 2023 due to the driving mode button/software being inoperative before then ( stuck in Normal with no coasting option ). Since then I've driven exclusively in ECO and have used the coasting feature at every opportunity. Daily commute is 50 miles each way, mostly motorway with weekend travel of 60 miles per day, again mostly motorway. Checking my MPG for the last 4 years between Jan - July I can report the following: Jan - Jul 2021 - Normal - 58.6mpg Jan - Jul 2022 - Normal - 57.7mpg Jan - Jul 2023 - Normal - 59.3mpg Jan - Jul 2024 - ECO - 58.7mpg So, in conclusion, it doesn't seem to make much/if any difference at all even though up until today I thought it must.
  13. It might be worth getting your mechanic to check over the steering and suspension system for signs of wear in ball joints and bushes
  14. An interesting VW self study document for all the dry clutch 7 speeders on the forum. 0AM DSG 7 Speed.pdf
  15. £650 seems reasonable based on what I have paid for the last 2 of mine. The first time it was done the system wasn't burped correctly so it took a couple of weeks to stabilise the coolant level in the expansion tank. 2nd time with different Indy it was faultless.
  16. Gammyleg replied to a post in a topic in Skoda Octavia Mk3 (2013 - 2020)
I suspect it is from Erwin. Google Erwin Skoda and you can set up an account which will allow access. Access costs about 7 euro per hour I believe. Should be plenty enough time to download the whole lot.
  17. Could you advise where on the VCDS menu would you find these selections?
  18. The original clutch pack was cr4p and the replacement is no better, therefore I'd like to think it's not the clutches that are at fault.
  19. My DQ200 has been sh1te since I got the car 4 years ago. It's been readapted a couple of times, it's had the latest Skoda software update a couple of months ago, a new clutch, flywheel, transmission and mechatronic oil change ( the mech oil was sludgy brown so get it changed regularly like all the other DSGs require). It's worse now than it ever was, slips in all gear changes up to 5th rather than original even-odd changes. Final step will be a TVS DSG driveability tune @ £450! I'll confirm in advance whether, based on the symptoms and diagnostic, that the tune is likely to work and if not whether I'll get a refund. I'm already £2500 down on this so this will be last throw of the dice.
  20. I though Dave & Nige had freed us from the EU or did I get that wrong?
  21. No.1 reason why I bought mine
  22. Ok, maybe a cousin then.😄
  23. It wasn't in Alperton by any chance?
  24. Indeed me neither, but I would have thought that a flush is not a flush if any residue still exists. Plus it's a brand new tank, matrix & coolant. I'd expect my coolant to be crystal clear ( albeit with a pink tinge ) after a bill of £889.90 I'm basing my opinion on what my coolant looks like, both before & after a belt & pump change, and it doesn't look like the OP's. However I've never had a flush due to a burst-bag so could be mistaken.
