Also currently in the broken air con camp so wind deflectors are a big help there. I changed the pressure switch and it should just need a regas, but at the minute I want to see where I am at after fixing more important stuff.

Funny I found it slightly reduced wind noise if anything on mine.

They blend in well on my car in fairness so I can see what you mean.

Get a bosch one Had hit and miss results with the likes of heynor blades. Edit: Gonna elaborate Changed wiper blades from whatever was on the car when I got it to heyner ones, they were great for just under a year, then got another pair to replace them and they didn't wipe all that great, and over 80 ""kph"" the drivers wiper would lift really badly and not wipe the screen that well. Only lasted a few months before they got to be useless at actually clearing the glass Pair of bosch ones on it now and they keep flat to the glass all the way up to 120 ""kph"" and do an excellent job otherwise. Cheap trick is to wax the glass so at speed the glass basically clears itself.

I have no problems driving my mk1 with no power steering and I'm not a particularly strong person. No doubt it will fail an MOT, but if it fails on you one day out of the blue, you can absolutely drive on it until you can get it fixed.

Yeah there'll be a place near you that can make them up Only thing is you'd want to have them off the car so they can use it as a template. Fwiw these cars are fine to drive without power steering so you could absolutely drive it without if you needed to.

Seems I'll have quite a bit more free time on my hands to work on both fabias, and I have plenty of parts stocked away to keep me going for now.

Another "not a proper update" update. Yesterday I went to see about a job lot of fabia parts for the mk1. Ended up with a lot more parts than I expected, including some that I absolutely need for this. Boxes full of parts all for 50 euro which I'm thrilled about. This box and some other bits are off a 1.9 sdi leon, wasn't originally part of the deal but a lot of this stuff can work on my car. Sorted things this evening, and this is the parts I've got together to go onto the mk1 first. Notice the alternator, that was off the aforementioned leon, spins free and should be a suitable replacement for the wonky one on the car. Track rods I had, washer bottle I had too. And this is the amount of stuff I now have lying in the shed with little use for, probably stick most of it up on ebay or marketplace, but I think there's still a few odds and ends there I could use either. (A fair bit of this pic is stuff I had beforehand) Notably I now have an sdi starter and an abs pump off the Leon the other sdi bits were off. Imagine they would be worth something to someone. Few other odds and ends not pictured, sensors and the likes. This is the bulk of it however.

Not much done to this Had another steering rack bush got for this after I used the first one on the mk1. Figured out how to swap it without dropping the subframe, bit of a faff but doable. Forgive the comically bad pictures, not great access. Old vs New As perfectly aligned as I could reasonably get, superpro ones a fair bit tighter. In the car can just make out the purple colour of the new one. Managed to do this on the pit, still took just over an hour. If its possible to do on a "big engined" 1.6 diesel, I'd imagine its a piece of cake on the 1.2l petrol cars When I had the tools out and was using the pit I did a bolt check front and back, considering I changed the drop link and rear springs end of last week. Bit of Copper spray to stop bolts rusting Got the parts for this sitting on a piece of wood. It's due a service so I'll probably have the track rods done then, and the caster increase bushes I want to do myself. I have another thing coming. Bought and all, probably the last thing bought for this car for a while it seems. I have all of this stuff got already so it will be put on, but that's it for now.

Tried that and the drivers door lock and neither worked

Thanks Wino for the advice, I somehow managed to get the switch working (albeit very much on the fritz), took it apart again and reassembled it backwards (by accident), it works enough to get me by until I get a new switch. I'll check the wiring in the door bellows anyway as due diligence but I may be lucky with it only being the switch.

Good afternoon all, I'm after coming out my 2012 fabia to find the window switch on the drivers side doesn't work, the window is stuck slightly down but happily the wind deflector is covering it. I think the switch is at fault as neither window switch works on the drivers side one, but the passengers switch works fine. I took it apart and it seems there's corrosion on the circuit board, again leading me to believe this is where the problem lies. I'll order a new switch but for the time being I want to get the window closed. I want to know if the switch from a Mk1 fabia uses the same connector, if it does I can use the one off my mk1 to close the window for the time being. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

And then Up to Sally gap to see how the car fares now compared to last time I went up it. Felt really good compared to last year, didn't bottom out at all and the exhaust didn't hit the ground once the whole trip. Would have been constant on the short springs. Lastly down to Courttown. Won a dog in an arcade which was fun trying to find a spot for it in the car. Last photo of the trip. Did well the whole weekend, intercooler did a fantastic job keeping heatsoak at bay. Shame the Air con is still broken (even after replacing the pressure switch) but it was bearable. Is due a service now though. May as well list what parts I have ready to go on when I have the time: -Inner and Outer Track Rods -Superpro Caster Increase Bush -Superpro Steering Rack bush Not much of a list but will make a difference once on the car. Might (Emphasis here) have a lead on a part I've been mad after for this car, but I'm not sure if it'll work out as I hope.

Onto Wicklow then Up Wicklow Gap Then Down it Then Down a "Shortcut" which didn't end well Did well to get this far, 4 up and all. Should say, it didn't get stuck I just reversed it up a bit until I could get turned to go back the way we came. After that it was onto the Lake drive around Blessington Lake.

I ended up going on a Weekend trip to wicklow this weekend got by, but I had to make a few changes before that. First, I swapped out the springs to the "heavy duty" ones I had from the mk1 Then I had to replace a drop link which had gone bad (already). And a cabin filter (Wasn't too long ago that it was changed either) And a last minute fix, just before I left I got a crack in the windscreen that I wanted to fix before I left. Fixed well enough to not stand out on the rest of the glass.

This happened the other week but posting anyway I drove up a mountain. For a car that's Polybushed and on coilovers, it did well getting up a rough dirt patch to get some of those photos. Could see for Miles around.

Wings easy to remove just be aware of the bead of silicon where the wing meets the door.

Not an actual update but I want to post something related to this up. I've not been able to get out to work on the cars since but I've been gathering parts up. For this I've got new plates New Track Rods, inner and outer as well as new ball joints. Nothing glamorous but stuff that needs doing if it's to even have a hope of passing NCT. Also have got a quote for this car insured with me as the main driver (and no named drivers) for around 1100 euro, which is actually fairly decent compared to what I was getting before. Was hoping I'd have everything I bought for the car done to it this week but that wasn't happening.

They should have cavity wax on the inside already.

I know someone who has payed £4500 for a 30k mile minter. Makes me realise I'm probably not getting my hands on a cheap rotter to reshell into my car anytime soon. My mk1 is less of a mess than that thing. And it rough as a week in jail.
