  1. Love it. I'll look to replacing the shocks after I get the MOT done as the MOT gets done around my birthday and I'll have money kicking about. I'll be a jinx and say it'll pass this year.
  2. Lofty's vRS ones (see his Project Daffodil thread) did the same thing with the wire. He had a replacement base, in my case, I'll wait and see what I can find. I just need something that I'll fall out of less to be honest! Why thank you. It started on a set of steels with fairly abused original plastic trims. I have three left as one broke up into bits. The alloys make it look fresh now, not like a tired 14 y/o (15 in December) hatchback. They'll go back on the car when it gets sold with a replacement OEM cover. Let's just say I have some things lined up for the Bohemia wheels and the other Fabia-specific bits...
  3. Wouldn't surprise me if everything was shot to be honest. I bought the car for the mileage alone (51k in March) and it's on that cusp where a lot of OEM stuff is dying or needing replaced. We (my Grampa and I) reckon the brake discs were original, which would explain why stopping was a great effort that required militarily-spec precision. I can grab them on eBay if I can't find a set local enough. I have a decent selection of scrap yards in Ayr and Irvine alone. So I shouldn't be too stuck! I've got a set of Team Heko deflectors on mine currently, they look sweet on the Fab. Functional too. The boot struts will be a TMS bought item since that's where I get all of my serviceable/consumable items from without issue. We've been using them since the days of my Granda's '51-reg Vectra.
  4. I know, it's the same here. There was a red 1.9 Elegance estate going for £150 up my way with a few days MOT and a knackered PAS system that I considered snapping up, but alas, I don't have the room for it and my Mum would kill me!
  5. Indeed - which then links me to this point... Once again, indeed. I've been doing my research. I'd like to stay true to Fabia Mk1 parts however where I can for the interior. If I can get my hands on a Bohemia interior then it'll go with the wheels (nicked, but not actually nicked, from a Bohemia) and I'll grab a rear headrest that's correct from somewhere (apparently the Mk4 Golf one fits) and bodge it in to a standard that'll do. If all else fails then I'll get some Polo 9N seats since most of them came with a centre rear headrest and they don't look bad. OEM probably. The car has a tendency to bottom out and lean like hell even when driven gently and I keep falling out of the driver's seat (hence the above) and I'm quite a big fellow who fits in those things pretty snugly, so it's not fun. I can't go too low as the roads are shocking here and the clearance is good for the speed mountains down along Ayr's beach car park (pictured) but I would consider a small drop. The console bushes are more of a priority as the creaking is so irritating, especially over bumps or when there's a rapid change in road surface.
  6. It's a nice looking car. I was never fond of that beige colour but it looks good with the body coloured handles. Those wheels are also excellent, in my "unbiased" opinion, really smarten a Fabia up. Yep, some of them can be really odd too!
  7. Until then you're going to have to bring a big stick... All jokes aside, glad you've got it partially working. The feeling of accomplishment and success is a great thing.
  8. Does anyone else do this or is it just me? Going to be hitting some scrap yards to scavenge a couple of bits for the Fabia. Anything with a strikethrough has been purchased and is or will soon be fitted. The second section is just parts that need replaced/repaired.
  9. Measure the current Audi ones and then check the 'net for a set that match your dimensions.
  10. Thought I'd update this... Rookie error: make sure the SSD (a slimmer drive) isn't narrowly missing the SATA connector.
  11. One of my favourite pictures of my little Fabia.
  12. Did you use VAG-COM/VCDS?
  13. That would actually be quite a clever marketing stunt!
  14. Welcome to the forums!
  15. Hi there. You'd be best making this post in the Skoda Octavia MkII Section, see here. As this section is for the 1999-2007 Skoda Fabia Mk1.
  16. Loving this thread
  17. Welcome to the forums!
  18. Check the coilpacks too in terms of engine related things.
  19. Gorgeous scenery!
  20. Hi George, welcome to the forums!
  21. On a less serious note, your Fabia is probably a better drummer than me and I've been doing it for 11 years!
  22. Echoing Wino, the dealer probably wouldn't be interested in supplying a maxi-dot cluster. They're like hen's teeth these days so I don't know if you'd be able to get a hold of one. You'd be best looking at cars getting broken up for scrap.
  23. Welcome to the forums!
  24. Tell me about it! This Briskoda lark is a bad influence.
