That's a pain, I don't know if you'd consider going with a second hand model though, but for consideration my CD player is an oldie actually, a 1989 Denon DCD-810, cost me £20 about 6 years ago, still going strong. No digital output, just RCA. One of the best I've owned however, compared to my Technics SL-PD7A at least.

We've got the neds (see Scottish TV show, Still Game for neducation) and they've been vandalising folk's cars and so on. I've got a Springer Spaniel who has already chased one of them out of the garden when they tried to nick one of the bins.

That would do my Freddie. He's a wee springer but quite solid for a wee dog. We've got one of dog guard things on the Dacia Duster as the dog can clear the headrests easily as he could do the same on the Toyota Auris. My Fabia only has the two headrests in the rear so it's a dawdle for him, hence why I'm considering a rear seat harness as he likes to see where he's going and gets panicky when he can't see. When he gets panicky like that then it's a case of how much you like the dog or any pieces of fabric/plastic trim.

I agree with this system. Almost like park and ride where you can take your ICE car to a specific point in the outskirts of an area and use an EV within said area, if I have interpreted that correctly. On the subject of chargers, the only public chargers available are at the Police Station in Dalmellington, for the whole of the Doon Valley, might I add. I believe there's six. I don't have any other details on them, but EAC use them for the 'leccy vans and some of the staff at the Academy use them for charging their cars while they teach.

Thanks! The suspension (springs etc.) replacement currently not a necessity but will be addressed when I feel it's time. I've got a throttle position sensor to replace first. I'd also rather get the bushes done because it creaks like hell over bumps.

Basically, after a near miss the other day (dog wasn't in the car at the time, but spurred this thought on), I need something suitable for my Springer Spaniel to make sure he's safe in the Fabia. It also needs to stop him from sitting on my lap as I drive because I don't want and/or require a face full of Springer when he causes me to land in the car in a field. He's not big for a Springer, but he's not that small either. Do any of you people with dogs who they keep in the back seat have a decent brand of harness for keeping him in the one bit keeping him and I safe. Have a photo of him just for filler.

And the award for the most thread updates goes to... ANYWAY, I was able to go to the Ayr Market today which had reopened and managed to get an older Alpine head unit which was iPod compatible for the grand total of 15 smackeroonies (£15). It has been fitted and the little area below the head unit has had a hole drilled into it so I could run the iPod cable through for my 5th Generation iPod. The stereo also can take CDs with CD text, which was a nice touch. The song playing was Shine by The Space Brothers. It's bass heavy enough to give the new speakers a run for their money.

It's the same dash for all the Mark 1s, the only difference was the steering wheel, dash cluster, and airbag badge on the passenger side. Mine is a 2006 Ambiente, so it's post-facelift.

I always liked that era of Vectra. My Grandad had a fairly basic Vectra LS 1.8 at the time, a black one.
