  1. Thanks! Certainly smarten it up quite a bit. I often question what's in store for it next, but your guess is as good as mine!
  2. I'm thinking about getting one for taking with me on the NC500, probably a 1.4 TDI or a 1.9 TDI depending on what budget, location etc. provides, or hinders.
  3. I can't help you from here unfortunately, sorry. I was just asking about engine types for the benefit of others who should be able to help.
  4. Obviously with glow plugs it's a diesel, but which diesel is it?
  5. Yes on all models. Lives under the glovebox in the passenger footwell.
  6. I might also bookmark this crowd. @ChrisRJ
  7. Alright, so my Fabia is a 1.2 12v BME coded car. Sometimes I can have difficulty putting it into reverse, like there's something blocking it and it sits partial in reverse (if you don't notice then it crunches like hell when you try to move), so I have to go to first and then into reverse. Is this something like the linkages or could it be something more sinister? It's fine for a decent amount of time and then it does it now and again. If I can catch it doing it then I'll make a video.
  8. That's fair. My Grandparents have always bought Vauxhall (Novas, Corsas, Vectras and so forth) and they're not quite as taken on with these new PSA made ones compared to the ones they had a while back.
  9. If you're looking towards Vauxhall, then the new Insignia is massive so I don't think your Mrs would like that, unless as a passenger (the SRI spec one is nice). The 2.0 Turbo Diesel can shift however.
  10. Here's the link by the way. https://www.carscoops.com/2021/10/skoda-fabia-combi-reportedly-canceled-due-to-strict-emission-regulations/
  11. I hope it isn't cancelled. I'd love a new Fabia estate (if it's any good), otherwise I'm staying old school as the Mk2 and Mk3 estate variants don't appeal to me as much as the Mk1.
  12. I shall keep that in mind. We've also got a running gag where we buy each other a packet of Werther's Originals for almost every occasion, been like that for the seven years I've known him. Just as a side note, he's vegetarian and always used to get a baked potato from the school canteen, so I reckon he'd get that joke too.
  13. The rock was a gift from my best mate, Andy who said he didn't know what to get me, he called it 'frock' as it's a frog-rock.
  14. @DieselMonte will be chuffed to know that I bit the bullet and bought a set of mud flaps for the front and back. I just wrestled them onto the car. Word of warning for anyone about to attempt this, take the rear wheels off! I bought OEM from a seller on eBay who is doing them for £45 for the lot. The pictures aren't stellar but I was drowning in WD40 as was my phone as a result.
  15. Welcome to the forums!
  16. Cheers Ken. I don't plan on going up to Edinburgh anytime soon, however, but that is very good to know!
  17. Had myself in a panic thinking my Fabia was Euro 3, but it's 4. Not that I'm mad enough to drive in the centre of Edinburgh.
  18. That's a pain, I don't know if you'd consider going with a second hand model though, but for consideration my CD player is an oldie actually, a 1989 Denon DCD-810, cost me £20 about 6 years ago, still going strong. No digital output, just RCA. One of the best I've owned however, compared to my Technics SL-PD7A at least.
  19. We've got the neds (see Scottish TV show, Still Game for neducation) and they've been vandalising folk's cars and so on. I've got a Springer Spaniel who has already chased one of them out of the garden when they tried to nick one of the bins.
  20. Brilliant news. You can sleep easier at night now.
  21. That would do my Freddie. He's a wee springer but quite solid for a wee dog. We've got one of dog guard things on the Dacia Duster as the dog can clear the headrests easily as he could do the same on the Toyota Auris. My Fabia only has the two headrests in the rear so it's a dawdle for him, hence why I'm considering a rear seat harness as he likes to see where he's going and gets panicky when he can't see. When he gets panicky like that then it's a case of how much you like the dog or any pieces of fabric/plastic trim.
  22. I agree with this system. Almost like park and ride where you can take your ICE car to a specific point in the outskirts of an area and use an EV within said area, if I have interpreted that correctly. On the subject of chargers, the only public chargers available are at the Police Station in Dalmellington, for the whole of the Doon Valley, might I add. I believe there's six. I don't have any other details on them, but EAC use them for the 'leccy vans and some of the staff at the Academy use them for charging their cars while they teach.
