  1. i bought an uprated sachs one and had it fitted by torquetronix.co.uk in northern ireland i would be wary of sites like the one you mentioned and would probably enquire via the likes of established VAG tuners to get an idea of what one to order and where to get it from budget around 1k for clutch including fitting and it will have a much heavier feel than the stock one if mine is anything to go by. i needed a new clutch return spring as well as the clutch.
  2. yup there is i have the shortshifter kit from boomba racing (for the golk mk7) fitted to my 2016 vrs (short throw shifter and the internals bit) it's great! when i had the airbox out out for fitting the quickshift kit i also did the clutch return valve mod i only fitted the gearknob a year after the quickshift bit and now wish i had done both at the same time
  3. wheels were on level ground. when i removed the 3 bolts on either side from the suspension turret the suspension underneath shifted very slightly and screw holes no longer lined up. when i jacked up the car then the whole wheel spring and shock fell sideways :( I need a spring compressor and another set of hands to line it all up and secure it.
  4. strut brace https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-OCTAVIA-STRUT-BRACE/173263992834?hash=item285756b802:g:E2sAAOSw5cJawf90 couldn't work out corresponding corrida red paint code from the paint codes he uses for powdercoating so got it in black - it's not visible anyways so not a big deal. fitting was tricky and needed a friend to save me when the suspension shifted out of alignment from the turret holes. ill try and get pic posted tomorrow. i was able to do it without removing the wiper arms (as i couldn't get them off) by removing the rubber bead from the plenum cover and a few clips and just bending the cover upwards the brace provides a subtle improvement, the ARB kit is much more tangible with respect to handling
  5. sorry there isn't too much to see - strutbrace is hidden by the plenum cover, i've no ramps for photo'ing the arb kit and i think i have posted the shortshift gearknob already
  6. quick post about some handling upgrades i have done recently with my petrol vRS ARB kit - big thanks to damian@DPMperformance - H&R 26MM FRONT & 24MM REAR ANTI ROLL BAR ARB kit - brilliant upgrade with respect to handling - much more planted with rapid changes in direction like roundabouts - it's great fun! Strutbrace - bought off ebay - bit of a nightmare to fit - highly recommend finding someone who knows what they are doing (i.e. not me) who has a couple of trolley jacks, spring compressors and patience. Don't try it on your own as the suspension shifts out of line from the turret screwholes and you are into a world of pain! subtle handling difference with much less chatter around corners which have uneven tarmac. Michelin PS4 tyres - just do it - they are great, especially in the wet Hunter 4 wheel alignment - expensive but fixed toe angle (not sure if it was too much -in or -out) that was outside normal limits - local porsche independent garage with kit and know-how) the above have totally transformed the handling of the car especially at speed where before it had felt very vague and floaty powerflex engine mount - i'm still undecided on this - it was cheap to buy but more expensive to fit (subframe needed off). car has much more NVH at startup than before but less wheelhop although i've not provoked it too much yet in the wet - unsure if less wheelhop is because of the new michelins - i'll give it a couple of months boomba racing short shift kit and gearknob (golf mk7 section of their website) - fitted the shortshift kit first and noticed an improvement, only fitted shorter gearknob a few weeks ago and WOW the combination is much better than either upgrade on their own. only downside is the boot gaiter keeps pulling off when i change from 5-6th in anger - i will fix this soon of all the upgrades the ARB kit is probably the most noticeable and i would highly recommend it hope this helps - sort the handling before sorting the power
  7. sachs organic clutch is an upgrade. no point in replacing with stock one if you are considering any kind of remap if you have obdeleven or vcds get the engine code (i think mine was CHHB) to ensure the correct clutch is ordered as there are small differences i think between models
  8. Johnny that would be great if you could find the link - as it is x4 bulbs to order i don't want to make a ££ mistake
  9. anyone have an actual link to vrs h16 LED fog bulbs they have bought and fitted? very confusing as to what exactly to buy can they be fitted without taking the bumper off? cheers
  10. nice video here as well just did this the other day - it's straightforward enough to do
  11. interestingly i watched the install video again and the Mk7 golf has a softrubber protector over the gear linkage mechanism underneath the gaiter - the octy doesn't and has all the linkage mechanism exposed - probably saves a few pennies...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aGFTmuCDQg&feature=youtu.be
  12. I bought a boomba racing shortshifter kit a year ago and a new gear knob at the same time. The shortshifter was easy to fit only requiring removal of the air intake - (i did the the clutch delay/return bleed mod at the same time as I had access to it whenever the air intake was out of the way). With the shortshifter attached throw was much reduced and felt much better. I only got round to fitting the gearknob today but wish i had done it sooner - the thing holding me up was I was unable to unclick the boot gaiter. After fiddling this weekend to try and wire in some LED dash mounted lights I was able to unclick this gaiter so went onto fit the gearknob. The boomba racing gear knob is a hefty bit of kit weighing around 0.4kg and once fitted makes for a much better and shorter gear change compared wit the stock vrs knob (which had started to peel a bit anteriorly). Easy to fit only requiring a screwdriver to help unwiggle the stock gear knob, a craft knife to trim the gaiter off it and a cable tie to attach the gaiter boot to the new knob Both the shortshifter kit and the gear knob from boomba racing are quality bits of kit and Have great instruction videos/pdfs re fitting (look at the golf mk7 items in their shop)
  13. i think there is a spare grommet in the bulkhead behind the battery to thread stuff through
  14. Thanks Next question, what is the vrs suspension strut outer diameter, 50mm or 55mm?
  15. What thickness of bars did you go for? Thanks
  16. i have a 2016 vrs petrol estate, 25k miles i'm looking at ARB kits and have a couple of questions - is my car 'independent rear suspension' or 'non independent rear suspension'? - any recommendations on what thickness front/rear works well? i want to flatten the cars cornering a bit but don't want to dramatically change amount oversteer/understeer thanks for any advice
  17. why not use obdeleven to disable it without all that faffing around plus have functionailty to tweak other stuff as well? - only a few quid dearer
  18. if you look closely at the london air ambulance 245 you can see the special front number plate holder that has covert blue LEDs vertically at each side (not illuminated in the photos). These are good for visibility of the car when pulling out from a junction http://premierhazard.co.uk/products/195/number-plate-led-warning-system-mk002-00b
  19. i couldn't on my mkII vrs saloon as the upper straps would be hooked directly onto the top edge of the rear windscreen glass which was a bad idea. on the estate now i put the bikes onto thule bike carriers on the roofbars. Footpack and roofbars gives more versatility if you ever want to use a roofbox as well
  20. looking for some advice on which LED bulbs (is it H16 size i need?) and how many to get for my pre facelift vRS the osram ones in the video look good but are rather expensive cheers
  21. c'mon Davy - get the photos up - it looks great in the flesh! no finding potholes on the way home.........
  22. i've just ordered the amazon ones linked to in the thread before remembering i have a mk3 pre-facelift - will they still fit?
