  1. Welcome. Some really knowledgeable people on here.
  2. I have a 2009 Fabia but I am afraid all I do is drive it, and not very often at that.
  3. If it is the immobiliser sensor coil, I cured that on my Volvo S40 by moving the steering wheel position (while checking to see how easy it was to remove the cowl) and after that I never had any issues (possible poor connection or it moved slightly). However, when I tried to start the car with the fault it wouldn't turn over, just the immobiliser light flashing.
  4. Looks like a DPF regen.
  5. In my experience the oil level is normally higher when the engine is warm, not lower.
  6. I am currently averaging 8l/100km with a best figure of 7l/100km but I drive like a granny in the highest gear the engine will comfortably run. On a level bit of road I would be in 5th at 50kph.
  7. Wheel bearing probably damaged while running with the stripped and slack nut.
  8. Have you still got the old arms (I usually stick bits like that in the back of the garage after coming out one morning to find my wipers tied in a knot)? If so, refit them and see if that cures the problem. If it doesn't then the arms are not the fault.
  9. Bought my second top up this morning and I returned a very acceptable 41.2 mpg (calculated). Considering most of my mileage is in the city, albeit, the outskirts, I am pleased with that. As you can see, my running average has increased reflecting that improvement.
  10. I had a GPS speedometer fitted just slightly right of where your gauges are and a sat nav stuck on the windscreen just ahead of it, and the car passed several MOTs like that.
  11. Mine stopped working a week after I got the car. The motor had failed. Luckily the dealer who sold it was happy to fit a new motor for me.
  12. My fuel gauge is considerably more linear than that. At just above a quarter I have done 300 miles and the MFD says I have about 100 miles left.
  13. Before doing anything else check your tyres for damage, bulges or misaligned tread. I had something similar with my Volvo S40 and one rear tyre had a twist in the tread. Replacing the tyre cured the problem.
  14. Today when I went out in the car I spotted that the fuel gauge, instead of reading just over a quarter full was reading just over half full. When I came out of the shops and turned the ignition back on it reverted to reading the lower value. My question is,: Does it require the full gauge to be reading correctly for the low fuel warning display to to come on at the correct level? An erratic fuel gauge is not a problem as long as the warning light operates as it should. I always reset the Multi Function Display memory 2 when I refuel so it gives me an approximation of how many miles I have left in the tank so I am not completely in the dark.
  15. Can the fuel filter be fitted the wrong way round?
  16. Probably because it is not a word from the Cambridge English Dictionary. Urban dictionary, yes.
  17. I saw that a week or so ago. Too big a job for me. I would just have to put up with the smell. Having said that, went out this morning and there was no smell what so ever on start up. My wife said she had been out early doors this morning and they had been spraying the fields nearby so perhaps that was what we smelt yesterday. I don't know if a smell can be brought down in heavy rain!

  19. My Fabia Mk 2 has an LED display, not LCD, like the one in this image. Perhaps your friend's is similar. Have you seen it?
  20. I would do but I am too infirm to get at it. I'll have to leave that to my mechanic. The Jazz was great, it was in the glove box, but getting up under the dashboard is beyond me these days.
  21. As Billy Connolly is famous for his story "What's that f***ing smell" this morning I was met by the same thing as soon as I turned the ignition on and the air from the face level vents hit me. It smelled of a cowshed. After a few second blowing the air coming out was fresh once again. Now I know aircon can get manky (I had that with my Volvo) but this wasn't that. Now as we had had heavy overnight rain after a long dry hot spell I figured it was water gathered in the fresh air intakes. On my return from the shops I had a look through the grill in front of the windscreen and there appears to be three sections on either side. The small ones in the centre had water in them. I can see no simple way to get in there so I took a welding rod and poked about in the base of each of these centre sections to see if there was a blocked drain hole, but with no success. I got the watering can out and poured copious amounts of water into both sides and water came out, in copious amounts under the car. Pouring water into the two middle sections just lipped over into the two end sections and drained away. My questions are: do these middle sections actually have a drain and is there an easy way to get into the plenum to clean it out? There is no water entering the car.
  22. I checked my MFD and though different from yours, it stays on when I lock the car. However, if I go back sometime later it has shut down. I take it when you say "even after a whole night", you approach the car without pipping the locks, as this switches my display back on.
  23. Regarding your code. Have a look at this. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16452/P0068/000104
  24. When KwikFit did mine they told me it wasn't leaking but it still wasn't working. They didn't charge me for the refill. On the way home I reset the Climatronic and it started working. On reaching home 10 minutes later I checked the temperature from the face level vents and it was 4°C.
