  1. These numbers are correct, but a direct replacement 18" tyre for a 205/55R16 will have a sidewall height of 113mm - 25 mm or 88mm. The important point that you haven't seemed to understand is that you keep the rolling diameter the same (within a few mm either way) so if you increase the wheel diameter by 2", you have to decrease the sidewall height by 25mm.
  2. The buckle is one bolt, but not available without a new belt/reel unit which is likely another 3.
  3. Try a dsg; it has most of the advantages of both a slushbox and a manual.
  4. You have an engine fault, and seem reluctant to spent money on getting it diagnosed.
  5. Sight unseen I suspect the thermostat (does temperature gauge move above 90C?) or the thermoswitch.
  6. @micro The outside (and inside) tread edges look worn and chewed in a way that suggests underinflation and/or enthusiastic driving. are you certain you're using the correct pressure for Goodyear Vector 4 seasons>
  7. The full sizing data is literally cast into the inside of the rim.
  8. I think the part number (and full sizing) are cast into the inside of the rim.
  9. Also @RM3 - Well FWIW the original battery in my Octy lasted at least 9 years (and possibly 12), and the replacement 9 and counting. This was with no "attention" other than driving the car and one jump start when I left the fog lights on all day, then drove 20 minutes home.
  10. IME the first action here tends to be "check torque of timing cover bolts". I've had this "issue" from 3 different makes, and it was always loose timing cover bolt(s).
  11. Now you know why they're known as "Skoda main stealers". Also I'd agree with @toot about the brake wear.
  12. I'd prefer smaller wheels (reason stated, and yes I have tried 17" cars), and wonder what a vendor who doesn't specify the wheel size is trying to hide.
  13. What size tyres? There have been complaints about the 18" and 19" cars riding hard, but 17" are comfortable, and I guess 16" will be more so.
  14. Never heard that one before but sounds cheap, easy and pretty diagnostic.
  15. I'm reading this as meaning that the "white gas" is persistent. If so, I suspect the early stages of head gasket failure, and suggest a coolant gas test for combustion products. If that's positive, double check with a compression test (dry only), and is there aby sign of the radiator fan(s) working harder than they used to?
  16. So which do you want? Something like an OBD II or VCDS that works well on certain marques or a cheap generic reader that makes "close guesses" on everything?
  17. I did, particularly "This warranty does not affect your statutory rights,"
  18. I thought as much. The OP hasn't actually stated which engine they have?
  19. The strut that was replaced is not out of warranty; this is for 12 months from date of fitting.
  20. Correct; they're "latching" codes which require a computer (eg VCDS, OBD II or a dealership computer) to reset them.
  21. I know you can fit 16" VAG alloys over 312mm discs, but thought some Superbs had 320mm or larger discs.
  22. That may depend on your front brake disc size.
  23. And Lorna Slater speaks so highly of you.
  24. Correct, which is why lowering the rear suspension can't change the toe angle.
