On my dashboard the left hand side will show the single white line but the "lane assist" icon does not light up until there are two. No idea if that is what it's supposed to do but it sounds right. The centre line of a road is just that, it marks the centre of the carriageway, you can cross it when needed. If the system activated it would argue with you passing parked cars?

Mine only appears if there is a white line either side of the car. Just one line in the centre of the road isn't enough to activate it.

All this could change when labour set their first budget. Jeremy Hunt introduced the ved for evs in the autumn statement in 2022 in a desperate attempt to balance his budget. Labour could use an alternate jiggery pokery maths

You don't have to take them off the road from what i have read elsewhere. You can sorn one day and re tax the next and "pay £0" for twelve months would then both be due end of Feb 2026

The ages of the cars in your profile suggest they will both be £190, It is not the first year they have been eligible for ved , it's just the year they will no longer have it £0

A 2 door will not get a licence to carry passengers in the UK I can see possibilities for airport car park shuttles for the buses if the roads between were closed off to traffic
