  1. It's 20km/h in the uk, who drives that slow apart from maneuvering? https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-noise-systems-to-stop-silent-electric-cars-and-improve-safety
  2. Does it use the sim card built into the Car? Are you sure you can turn it off? eCall is now mandatory in all cars sold in the EU from 1 April 2018 onwards. If you buy a new model of car, approved for manufacture after 31 March 2018, it must have the 112-based eCall system installed. This measure was announced 28 April 2015.
  3. To disconnect your electricity supply, contact the National Grid. The job will typically cost you £500-£1,000, and take four to six weeks.
  4. I too have never heard of the arm wearing out, although i have seen them snap in frost when the switch has been left in Auto or on when the vehicle is started up.
  5. https://digital-manual.skoda-auto.com/w/en_GB/show/18370d3f1a83a248c9f0d8d2e9849edc_12_en_GB?ct=85845d7bf2550094ac1445253fa8640b_1_en_GB#titled87373942e36174
  6. Are your journeys normally short? How often do you drive a decent distance? for e.g over half an hour
  7. The confusion is the "R" on the mirror dial is for "right" not "reverse" and the handbook is for people who drive LHD cars.
  8. Sounds like you inadvertently just changed the mirrors normal position for your memory setting. Did you: "With ignition on Put the car in reverse, set the mirror control knob to L and move the knob to dip the mirror how you want it. Put it into D then turn the mirror control to 0 and the mirror should return to its normal position. If you now store the seat position it’ll also store the dipped mirror position. Now if you leave the mirror knob in L it will dip when you put it into reverse, and return to normal once you start moving forward at more than about 10mph or a hundred metres or so. If you want it to go up to normal position whilst reversing, simply turn the knob to 0. Similarly if you don't want it to dip, leave it in 0 rather than L. I don't think the manual is particularly clear about how it's supposed to work." (Quote from another forum answering your question.)
  9. I am really pleased that it is working for you and hope the dream continues. I am just concerned that once we reach 2035 and the majority are using electricity to fuel their transport the tide will turn and it will be too late for the Majority to defend themselves against energy profiteers. Everyone extols the virtues of smart meters and the ability to change rates by the minute, i consider the implications when rates can be tailored to individual customers.
  10. Model 3 Standard Range: £32.16 Per Charge 60 (battery size in kWh) x 80% = 48 kWh 48 x 0.67 (cost in pence per kW) = £32.16 Model 3 Long Range & Performance: £44.22 Per Charge 82 x 80% = 66 kWh 66 x 0.67 = £44.22 Model Y Standard Range: £32.16 Per Charge 60 x 80% = 48 kWh 48 x 0.67 = £32.16 Model Y Long Range & Performance: £44.22 Per Charge 82 x 80% = 66 kWh 66 x 0.67 = £44.22 Tesla owners who subscribe to the £10.99 per month membership will be charged around 53p per kWh to charge their car. Bargain😂 https://www.vanarama.com/electric-leasing/cars/tesla-charging-cost-guide
  11. https://digital-manual.skoda-auto.com/w/en_GB/show/8a1f5ad4ff9010b616d283448c070138_3_en_GB?ct=6c401b5a333bf7d6ac14452563f4e255_3_en_GB#titled21893940e9094 I thought you had to touch the handle to unlock, not just walk past? And you can temporarily turn it off
  12. Overtime more and more people will be charging cars overnight, eventually this will reduce the need for energy traders to sell electricity cheaper because the times of excess capacity will be reduced?
  13. I don't understand why Skoda changed the oil service interval up to 80,000 miles unless it was to increase the failure rate. other Manufacturers insist on 36,000/3 year at a minimum for a dsg if the gearbox and mechatronic units share the oil, Gearbox swaff and solenoids in mechatronic units don't mix well.. Losing odd or even gears is a sign of non functioning or sticking solenoids.
  14. How long do you think before that bubble bursts. People used to get good money for solar panel output once too, less attractive now. " “FFR is not fixed price, it’s a competitive market,” he adds. “And so if every vehicle becomes electric and then every vehicle is plugging in at similar times, you are not going to earn the same money. “FFR will drop to a relatively negligible value. We’ve seen that in other grid services already, and you will have to start looking at other less lucrative value streams. “However, for the first adopters, there is a huge opportunity. If you look at the business cases, I think we will see there are niche customer types that are able to offer services like frequency regulation much more effectively, and therefore access that vacuum. “Others with more intermittent or more variable driving patterns will not be able to access the higher values, so will get lower values from it.” https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/fleet-management/v2g-easy-money Secondly can i ask why you would buy a car to be a storage battery, why not just buy a storage battery? There are people ready to make money from those seeking to make money from buying Power banks hoping to profit from selling kws to the energy companies. https://www.prnewswire.co.uk/news-releases/with-8-2-cagr-power-bank-market-size-to-reach-usd-18-32-bn-by-2029--power-bank-industry-global-trends-growth-and-future-prospects-301836491.html But at the end of the day paying 50p to sell it back to you for 8p is not sustainable.
  15. Sure it's possible i have seen it on Twitter?
  16. Sorry that happened, i thought i had sent a link to a VW sd card. The details you gave of the card you had was VW
  17. The Govt cannot manage without the fuel duty either. The Electricity companies cannot manage without the profits and increasing turnover annually either. Encouraging those who can to go for VTG will be a stop gap to meet generation need until they have their own Battery storage capability. The smart meter system will eventually be used to individually charge people when they use there energy most. Do people really think it was a coincidence that prices quadrupled when we changed the light bulbs to use 75% less energy?
  18. Not for much longer.
  19. https://www.skoda.co.uk/news/details/skoda-confirms-all-new-models-are-fully-compatible-with-e10-fuel
  20. What is this "London" you talk of? I am 64 and have never found the need or desire to go 😂
  21. Not exactly the most efficient use of Hydrogen but i suppose good for use in remote areas like "north Yorkshire 😂" ? I expect in reality it's for training in use of the equipment for operations abroad. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-68383322 https://www.idealhy.eu/index.php?page=lh2_outline
  22. I am not Jeremy Clarkson but i like to maintain momentum going up a hill
  23. Handbooks are normally Model year specific, not trim, so have all available options that could be fitted to the car.
  24. Those watching the ice need to also watch the solar minimums and maximums Is this why 2030 was decided to reduce CO2 by to stop the temp going up by another degree. "This discovery of double dynamo action in the Sun brought us a timely warning about the upcoming grand solar minimum 1, when solar magnetic field and its magnetic activity will be reduced by 70%. This period has started in the Sun in 2020 and will last until 2053. During this modern grand minimum, one would expect to see a reduction of the average terrestrial temperature by up to 1.0°C, especially, during the periods of solar minima between the cycles 25–26 and 26–27, e.g. in the decade 2031–2043." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7575229/ But what this has to do with buying an EV or not i am not so sure. I will buy one when i can afford it and it meets my needs.
  25. All depends upon how you label the Axis? There are reasons why these topics come up in our Winter. To make people fear because the ice is melting whilst we are cold.
